-Helloween Publishes “Hellbook” For their 30th Anniversary

As pioneers of German Melodic Speed Metal, Helloween are not only one of Germany’s most respected metal exports, but also one of the globally most influential metal bands today. Since 1984 Helloween have performed at all important festivals such as Rock In Rio or Woodstock in Poland, which they headlined in front of over 500,000 fans. The band played countless world tours, delivered spectacular shows with colleagues such as Iron Maiden, Slayer, or Ozzy Osbourne, released 15 studio and three live albums, and sold more than eight million records. With 14 gold and six platinum awards under their belt, they scored their career’s highest German album entry in 2013 and scored at the US Billboard’s Top 100. Obviously, Helloween are far from running out of steam: Their 30th anniversary sees the publication of their first book, the “Hellbook.” By this, the pumpkin heads from Hamburg present a long awaited fan item that documents 30 years of metal passion and is the only official reference work of its kind so far.

“For us, this book is highly emotional and evokes a thousand memories. Good moments as well as not so good ones are captured here. 30 years of Helloween on almost 500 pages — and no end in sight…” – MARKUS GROSSKOPF

Order now at http://www.helloween.org/ .

The “Hellbook” is a singular tribute to the European metal gods. On 498 pages in the format 22×28 cm, this tour de force of speed, power, and rhythm initially takes us back to the roots. We witness their most important and renowned moments, as well as their darkest and most tragic hours: The true story of Kai Hansen, Michael Kiske, Andi Deris, Michael Weikath, Ingo Schwichtenberg, Markus Grosskopf, Roland Grapow, Uli Kusch, Dani Löble, Sascha Gerstner, and other masters is told for the first time officially, and accompanied by high-quality and partially unreleased live and backstage images. Actually, 30 years of Helloween are the best excuse to spill their best kept secrets and most legendary anecdotes…

“We had great years and a fantastic time, that, looking back, makes the downsides that come with everything big, seem insignificant.” – KAI HANSEN

With its premium artwork, designed by illustrators and designers like the mysterious Frederick Moulaert or Marcos Moura, a 350gr soft cover, and 150gr paper, the “Hellbook” is a 2kg must-have for hardcore fans and a true treasure for collectors: The comprehensive and complete legacy of a legend, alive and necessary — and a collage of their dreams, dedicated to one of the biggest German heavy and hard rock bands of recent years. The “Helloween Bible” was initiated by Carlos Vincente Leon and David LĂłpez GĂłmez from Spain, who penned this masterpiece with blood, sweat, and tears by fans for fans.

“A reference book, even for myself. I’ll probably flick through the pages in 20 years going: ‘Really? That’s how it was? Cool!’ ;-)” – ANDI DERIS

The deluxe edition is strictly limited 3kg heavy weight, manually numbered, and personally signed by the band members including Kiske and Hansen. The golden hardcover and high-quality protective cover wrapper printed with UV coating contains 556 pages — 58 pages more than the “Hellbook’s” standard edition. These 58 pages are the “Hidden Treasures” with copies of originals from the band’s early days: private stories like the first record deal, the development of the logo, pictures from times before Helloween, and much more. The “Hidden Treasures” are printed on 150gr. maxisatin /glossy paper.

“I haven’t been dealing with these years for almost two decades now. Looking at all the forgotten pictures now brings back lots of memories; good memories! It’s great to have a book like this!” – MICHAEL KISKE

Those who love the genre know that Helloween deserve their spot on the pedestal of international metal — and those who don’t know everything about the “Godfathers” of the genre yet will love this book. The “Hellbook” will be exclusively available via http://www.helloween.org/ from October 31, 2015 in the standard and deluxe version, which is strictly limited to 777 copies.

“I wonder if this story will ever end. Flipping through the pages, there are many details I didn’t know, didn’t realize, or forgot. Here’s hoping it will entice and thrill the interested reader — and do some good in unforeseeable ways.” – MICHAEL WEIKATH

-Frontiers To Release Primal Fear’s RULEBREAKER In January

Frontiers Music Srl is pleased to announce the worldwide release of the new Primal Fear studio album, RULEBREAKER on January 29, 2016! Available in CD, deluxe CD/DVD and — in collaboration with Soulfood Music Distribution GmbH in Germany — the album is also available on vinyl and a special super-limited vinyl edition version featuring an eagle head on the vinyl. RULEBREAKER combines the strongest Primal Fear moments ever, with a well-balanced typical Primal Fear trademark riff-vibe, crushing songs, and some very ambitious musical journeys. Pre-orders for RULEBREAKER will be unveiled soon.

Singer Ralf Scheepers says: “We have so much energy, fantastic melodies, and a hell of a drum groove on each and every song, there is no doubt that the fans will love it as much as I do! And again we have achieved to combine bombastic and atmospheric orchestral sounds with soaring heavy metal riffs and licks, together with ear-splitting screams and also emotional sequences. We have kept the promise of being a heavy metal band with all the trademarks for which people love Primal Fear.”

After the massive DELIVERING THE BLACK World Tour, Primal Fear started the song writing in spring 2015 and recorded at Hansen Studios in Denmark, with producer Mat Sinner and engineer Jacob Hansen (Volbeat, Pretty Maids, Amaranthe). Mat Sinner adds: “We learned a lot during the DELIVERING THE BLACK sessions and the following world tour. We tried to put this know-how and all the positive energy into the songs and production of RULEBREAKER. Working the second time with Jacob Hansen and even recording in his studio, gave another dimension to our sound, plus the recording comeback of founding member Tom Naumann was the right move.”

Classic and ultra-fresh, Primal Fear have created riff-rockers like the album opener “Angels Of Mercy,” and groove monsters “The End Is Near” and “Bullets And Tears,” which hit the bullseye from the beginning. The album features another untamed speed killer “In Metal We Trust” and the metal anthem and title track “Rulebreaker.” The melodic and unique ballad “The Sky Is Burning” shows a different side of Primal Fear with a new vibe and a monster chorus. And of course, Primal Fear included again an 11-minute plus Prog Metal tour-de-force entitled “We Walk Without Fear,” spiced with big orchestral arrangements and complex sound designs.

Primal Fear are about to release what is definitely their strongest album ever: RULEBREAKER! Don’t miss the German Metal Commandos on their worldwide tour in 2016!

-Avantasia: Marco Hietala (Nightwish) On New Album!

Update from Tobias Sammet:

“What do Geoff Tate, Dee Snider, Michael Kiske, Robert Mason, Jorn Lande, Bob Catley, Ronnie Atkins, Olli Hartmann, and me have in common with Marco Hietala of Nightwish? Yes, we’re all good-looking, funny and amazingly talented… AND: we’ll be on the new Avantasia album GHOSTLIGHTS — out on January 29th, 2016.

“About Marco: It was August 1997 and we were in Helsinki to mix the VAIN GLORY OPERA album of Edguy when someone played the band Tarot to me. That great band seemed to be some sort of a legend in Finland (in Germany Tarot were not really known at the time). A few years later a band called Nightwish had appeared on the map and were about to take the European Metal world upside down. Edguy played a festival in England with Saxon and amongst others: Nightwish! I remember even though they had a great female vocalist how much I loved the rendition of Ozzy Osbourne’s ‘Crazy Train’ that they did — if I remember correctly — which was sung by their bass player. You know, a lot of bass players are bass players because they wanna be in a band, too; and there’s only so much damage you can do to the sound of a band with just a bass. Sometimes they’re only in the band because they talk enough to organize things or they have a day job to finance the first demo recordings, nice stage clothes, or sun glasses, but at the end of the day, most of them aren’t taken seriously because… well, because they’re bass players. 🙂 And they’re always suspicious… 😉 Anyway — I don’t need a bass player because I play bass myself (not as good as Marco, but I am the cheaper solution for my own project, ha!). AND Marco is more than a bass player, he is a proper musician! I have no clue why it took so long until I eventually asked Marco Hietala (that bass playing vocalist with the two beards and the voice!!) if he could imagine singing a role on an Avantasia album. Now it is happening! And the results kick ass! You will love it! We’re putting together an epic metal record I believe…

“Furthermore Robert Mason (Warrant) can been confirmed to sing on the new album as well. Robert first made a name for himself back in the early nineties as the lead singer in Lynch Mob. Robert is an amazing singer coming from what some would call a different musical world, and he contributed something very unique to the Avantasia world. He really gave the songs what they needed! You will hear it!

“Cheerz, Tobi”

-Berlin-Based Startup Company Staramba Has Made It Possible: Metal Queen Doro Comes To Your Home As A 3D figure!

Doro Pesch has played more than 2,800 concerts in more than 60 countries across four continents in her 30-plus-year — and now the metal queen comes to your home, whenever you want, wherever you want, forever!

Staramba has made this incredible feat possible. From now on, the Berlin-based startup company offers Doro and her entire band as terrific 3D figures in different sizes. Doro and the band look incredibly realistic, this is due to the unique technology (photogrammetry scanner 3D Instagraph), which scans persons within a few seconds. Afterwards, lifelike and full-colored figures emerge shift by shift in a highly-modern 3D printer.

The puppets made out of polymer plaster casts are the spitting images of the originals, only smaller. “The figures became absolutely super,” Doro states. “It’s a really interesting experience to hold yourself in your hands suddenly. I’m sure that the fans will love these new figures and they will get them all for their homes.”

Next to Linkin Park and Slash, Doro is the third rock act that Staramba has created.

Doro Pesch and her band mates Johnny Dee (drums), Nick Douglas (bass), Bas Maas (guitars), Luca Princiotta (guitars), and Harrison Young (keyboards) are available now as a full package in the scale of 1:20 and 1:15 from the Staramba online shop. http://shop.staramba.com/

All band members are purchasable separately for €30 – €295 in the scale of 1:20, 1:15, 1:10 and 1:7.

-New Track from Billy Sherwood’s Upcoming Album CITIZEN: “The Citizen,” Featuring Chris Squire And Tony Kaye

Frontiers Music srl has unveiled another song from the new Billy Sherwood album, CITIZEN. The song, “The Citizen,” can be heard at http://on.fb.me/1Lz5ER8 . The album, CITIZEN, is due out November 6.

This is the third song to be revealed prior to the new album’s release on November 6th. All digital pre-orders of CITIZEN include instant downloads of “The Citizen,” “Just Galileo And Me,” and “No Man’s Land.” Pre-orders available here: http://radi.al/BillySherwoodCitizen .

In writing the song, “The Citizen,” Billy Sherwood’s main goal was to set up his concept album, CITIZEN, about a lost soul reincarnated in different eras. Almost modeling the album’s opening after the beginning scroll of the movie “Star Wars,” he wanted the lyrics to show how one thing could change the course of history. “I think people need to listen to the album once, and then start again with the song ‘The Citizen’ as it shows that the guy has already been there throughout history.”

Billy’s aware that the song “The Citizen” can also stand on its own, and thus be interpreted in other ways including the responsibility of citizens being informed. “That is the cool thing about music, people can read a lot of things into it. It shows how the music relates to the listener.”

It is significant that the song “The Citizen” is the last recording of Billy’s mentor, Yes bassist Chris Squire. Earlier this year when Chris was diagnosed with cancer, he handpicked Billy Sherwood to fill in for him on bass and vocals in Yes, before he left for cancer treatment and ultimately, his untimely death. Former Yes keyboardist Tony Kaye is also on the recording.

Other artists on the album, CITIZEN, are Yes keyboardists Patrick Moraz, Rick Wakeman, and Geoff Downes, Dream Theater keyboardist Jordan Rudess, Genesis guitarist Steve Hackett, and Yes’ current singer Jon Davison.

Billy started his career in the band Lodgic and then as a member of World Trade, who have two critically-acclaimed albums. He has produced and engineered for many artists including John Wetton, Motorhead, Queensryche, Paul Rodgers, and Yes. He joined Yes first as touring member on the “Talk” tour in 1994, and was a full-time member from 1997 to 1999. He recorded two albums with Chris Squire as the Conspiracy project and released six albums with Circa, the band he formed with Tony Kaye.

CITIZEN is Billy’s eighth album of new material, though he sees this as a group effort, “While I’ve created a lot of this record myself I couldn’t have done it without the amazing talents brought to bear by all the great artists who participated. So I feel it’s much more of a collective effort than a solo album. It’s my desire to take this production onto the stage and some of these amazing artists can help bring this concept to life.”

The album, CITIZEN is being released November 6 on Frontiers Music Srl.

-Rockett Queen Reveals “I Hate You” Video

TYLER, TEXAS — Rockett Queen has unveiled the first video from their GOODNIGHT CALIFORNIA EP, “I Hate You.”

A fan favorite at live shows, “I Hate You” brings the story of a contentious romantic relationship to life through a simple yet highly effective concept.

“The concept was interesting to me because I didn’t want it to just be a simple, on-the-nose sexual video,” said vocalist/guitarist Walter Lee. “I wanted to touch on all the different dark places we tend to go while trying to work out our issues, whether they be from the new relationship or an old relationship, so we can move on with the new. At the same time, it shows how sometimes sex can be used as a weapon.”

To do this, “I Hate You” juxtaposes images of a boxing couple with steamy sex scenes, illustrating the dichotomy of the relationship, while also interspersing shots of Rockett Queen’s dynamic on-stage performance.

“I’m extremely happy with how the video came out,” said Lee, who took on the directorial role along with Bruno at Snap The Picture, whose previous work includes Vogue, Neiman Marcus, MTV, Wall Street Journal, and Tiffany & Co. “Bruno has such a great eye for detail and style that it was for the most part easy to film. Everything from his lighting to his scene-stealing camera work really brought the whole project together. The only thing missing was a final scene where I wanted to light the inside of his studio on fire for a climactic ending to the video, but he was having NONE of that, so we went with an alternate ending!”

The video took roughly two months to film and cast, a task that was beginning to feel hopeless.

“It took a special quality to really get the point across and we spent forever trying to find the right leading lady and man,” Lee said. After nearly giving up, Lee connected with former Playboy model Summer Ayala, who took an interest in the role. “After discussing the treatment with her and joking about how perfect she would be with her past experience in acting and modeling, surprisingly she jumped at the chance to do it. Even better she knew the perfect male lead in Devin Northrip an actor/model signed to her agency. With Devin’s background in MMA fighting he really added a lot to the fight scenes.”

Rockett Queen’s brand of straight-up, honest rock ‘n’ roll has garnered the quartet a great deal of critical acclaim and Top 40 airplay. Performing for more than 25,000 music fans, the band’s energetic live show has won over a devoted fan base.

GOODNIGHT CALIFORNIA is available now via Fade To Silence Records.

Released October 30 and dubbed the “Golden Void” version, it features The Phantom, a.k.a. Casablanca front man Anders Ljung, giving a spooky narrative of the Cthulhu mythology inspired story revolving around “The Originals,” who ruled the Earth prior to the Lovecraftian “Old Ones.”

The added narration is broken up into intro and outro segments accompanying each track on MISKATONIC GRAFFITI so that the tale flows smoothly as the music moves in and out of the storyline.

The Phantom himself, says,”EXTRA EXTRA!!! There will be no pumpkins in the Casablanca windows this year. Instead, we’ve decided to give you this trick and treat. The Phantom was in a good mood and decided to share some of the material from his memoirs with all of you.”

-Starblind’s Video For “A Dying Son” Released!

The new video by STARBLIND: “A Dying Son.” The song will be on the upcoming album DYING SON, which will be released on December 4th, 2015 via Pure Steel Records.

Cover art by Markus Vesper
Logo By Chris Horst
Photography by Stefan Steise

Following the brand new signing of Starblind with Pure Steel Records in March 2015, Starblind’s sophomore album DYING SON is soon to be unleashed upon the world, following up their album debut DARKEST HORRORS from 2014. Hailing from Stockholm, Sweden, Starblind are here to deliver traditional Heavy Metal as if time had stood still since 1984.

Their music can be described as catchy Heavy Metal with majestic twin guitar leads, pumping bass guitar, dynamic drums, and melodic, powerful vocals. No attempts has been done to hide the influences when writing the material to DYING SON. And it stands clear that the metal giants from Great Britain are the main ones.

DYING SON contains everything from fast songs like “The Lighthouse” and “A Dying Son,” to mid-tempo “Firestone” and “Sacrifice,” to the 11 1/2-minute opus “The Land Of Seven Rivers Beyond The Sea.”

Starblind’s sophomore album DYING SON has been recorded live in the studio and is produced by Rocka Rollas/Blazon Stone mastermind Cedrick Forsberg. Because of the philosophy of no guitar dubbing, no triggers, and no metronome when recording, the album has a very authentic and organic feel. What you get on the album, is what you get live!

To the fans of ’80s metal and of the “New Wave of Traditional Heavy Metal,” this is a record you cannot miss!

Mike Stark – vocals
Daniel Tillberg – bass
Zakarias Wikner – drums
Björn Rosenblad – lead guitars
Johan Jonasson – lead guitars

Mats Nilsson – Vocals
Stefan Halldin – Drums
Peter Bergkvist – Guitar
Roger Blomberg – Bass
Jonas Hallberg – Guitar

MarysCreek courageously blends modern heavy metal with the classic melodies of Scandinavian pop tradition to form a fresh and unique sound. The ambition is to take the best of the two worlds: a heavy rock foundation consisting of fat, distorted guitars and huge drums with a delicious topping of pop-flavored song melodies arranged with multi-layered vocals.

The debut album SOME KIND OF HATE was mixed by demon producer Fredrik “Fredman” Nordström (In Flames, Soilwork, The Haunted, Opeth, Dream Evil) and released in 2007 by MTM Music. -First Bands Announced To Sweden Rock Festival 2016!

The wait is over! We proudly present the first 22 confirmed bands confirmed for Sweden Rock Festival 2016.

We can now officially confirm that The Hellacopters will be reuniting for a single, world-exclusive show at next year’s festival. The band played their farewell shows in Stockholm in 2008, but in June next year their 1996 lineup reforms for one night only to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their debut album SUPERSH*TTY TO THE MAX.

We are also proud to announce the last show in Sweden ever by Twisted Sister. After reuniting for the 2003 edition of the Sweden Rock Festival, one of the most acclaimed live bands in the world is coming full circle next year, by playing their only Swedish show on their final tour in Sölvesborg. Following the tragic loss of drummer A.J. Pero, the surviving original members will be backed by none other than former Dream Theater sticksman Mike Portnoy.

Among the other 20 acts announced today are King Diamond, who will perform a special ABIGAIL set for the first and possibly last time ever in Sweden, featuring what is said to be the band’s most elaborate stage production ever. Special mentions are also in place for the only Avantasia show in Sweden next year, which is sure to make for a spectacular evening, and Satyricon, who will perform their classic NEMESIS DIVINA album in its entirety.

The full list of confirmed acts so far reads as follows:

THE HELLACOPTERS (world-exclusive reunion show)
TWISTED SISTER (their final tour, only show in Sweden)
KING DIAMOND (performing a special ABIGAIL set)
AVANTASIA (only show in Sweden)
SATYRICON (performing a special NEMESIS DIVINA set)

Another 60 acts are to be announced during this autumn and winter.

More information about all artists and the festival can be found at http://www.swedenrock.com/ .

-Visigoth Launches Live Video For “Iron Brotherhood” From Last Month’s Frost And Fire Festival!

Last month, Salt Lake City’s Visigoth delivered a full set of no-frills, no-gimmicks heavy metal to eager fans in Ventura, CA at the Frost And Fire Festival. For anyone that missed this epic performance, the band has launched a live video of “Iron Brotherhood” from the show here: https://youtu.be/2X25B-tvPWc

Visigoth comments: “Frost And Fire was an absolutely incredible experience for us as both a band and as heavy metal fans. We are deeply honored to have shared the stage with so many phenomenal bands and to have met so many die-hard heavy metal enthusiasts who were in attendance from all over the world. Thank you so much for having us out your way, Ventura. We can’t wait to come back.”

Visigoth released their debut, THE REVENANT KING, earlier this year, giving fans and critics alike “real-deal old-school goods with power and swagger to spare” (Revolver Magazine). While they pay tribute to the titans of steel that left their mark on metal history, the quintet goes above and beyond mere imitation, making their own musical mark on the genre they lovingly embrace. As NPR Music proclaims, “[Visigoth] looks to Manowar, Judas Priest, and Manilla Road… for that classic ’80s sound, but the production is decidedly heavier, with mammoth choruses led by Jake Rogers’ regal voice.”

-Junkstars Release New Single, “Snakebites,” And Prepare To Hit The Road With Backyard Babies

STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN — Scandinavia’s newest punk-fueled rock heroes, Junkstars, release their new single, “Snakebites,” through Despotz Records on November 6.

Jumping out of your player with enough velocity to peel your skin off of your face, the doom-laden lyrics reflect what the planet is heading for if we don’t take care of it. The band says, “It’s actually a horror-sci-fi inspired song about peace on Earth and what we do with our planet. The metaphor is that if we continue to destroy our world the snakes will come kill us, take over, and live in our homes. We have to prevent this from happening.”

“Snakebites” is taken from the band’s THIS IS WAR album (Despotz).

The trio are also gearing up for a European tour with Swedish punk metal legends Backyard Babies. The tour kicks off on November 5 at the Markthalle in Hamburg and concludes at Islington Academy in London on November 25.

-Saviours: PALACE OF VISION Streaming In Full At MetalSucks; Record Out Now Via Listenable + Additional Live Dates Confirmed

West Coast riff peddlers, Saviours, has levied their thundering PALACE OF VISION full-length upon the ears of the masses via Listenable Records. Dark yet simultaneously driving and anthemesque, the band’s first proper full-length in four years was captured at Type Foundry in Portland, Oregon with Billy Anderson (Brothers Of The Sonic Cloth, Eyehategod, Taurus, Ommadon, etc.) and delivers nine tumultuous tracks of herculean riffs, quaking rhythms, and galloping guitar harmonies twined around a fixation on the apocalypse, the occult, psychedelics, and the arcane.

In advance of its official descent and following previous track premieres with Decibel, Cvlt Nation, and Invisible Oranges, MetalSucks offers up the record in full noting, “Saviours are always good for a healthy dose of gnarly, NWOBHM fun; just the right amount of dirty rawness and just the right amount of Thin Lizzy polish. But, best of all, they never repeat themselves, which is so often the downfall of ‘reliable’ bands: they twist things up just enough to make each release an engaging listen, as they’ve done now over the course of five full-lengths and two EPs spanning a decade-plus career. PALACE OF VISIONS is their latest same-but-not-the-same endeavor, and you can stream it in full below.”

Witness PALACE OF VISION in all its head-jogging glory courtesy of MetalSucks:

Rooted in hardcore punk but preferring to cruise in outer space, Saviours have always brought an infectious swing and swagger to their forward-charging heavy metal. The band melds the prime tenets of the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal, progressive rock, and proto-doom, and delivers it all with a snarling, West Coast hardcore edge. The result is a rugged beast of a sound that is singularly Saviours.

“…these guys still have some of the tastiest guitar playing in the game…” – Invisible Oranges

“Riffs that wander, but through that brutal wall of sound, if there were a band that was the demon spawn of early Metallica and early Black Sabbath, Saviours would be that band… In an age of singles, Saviours has made a superior album.” – Glacially Musical

“Fans of bands like Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Motörhead, and other classic bands will hear multiple lines of influence here. But Saviours is more than the sum of its parts. This is original heavy metal, played to perfection.” – Sea Of Tranquility

-Out Now! Silent Line Release New Concept Album SHATTERED SHORES

SHATTERED SHORES teaser video:

Producing heavy and melodic music with an orchestral flair rooted in death metal, Bonnyville, AB Silent Line’s first concept album SHATTERED SHORES is now available to follow up their 2012 LP BORN OF A DYING STAR. The title track is split into two parts, and throughout the album several thematic riffs and lyrics are repeated, creating a motif for listeners. The title references being stranded and trapped forever as the shores become more eroded and the reality of isolation sets in. The lyrics revolve around the themes of overcoming hardships, anxiety, and “weathering the storm” in order to persevere. A single person is referred to throughout the album and everything is told from their point of view as they wander, stuck on the island — unsure of how they got there, and unsure if they will ever leave.

The band explains the album:

“SHATTERED SHORES is a concept album — our first attempt at one — that depicts a tortured island stuck in time being slowly worn away by an endless ocean. Themes of frost, snow, fire, night, and stars are used to illustrate feelings of hopelessness, fear, and loss. A single person is referred to throughout the album and everything is told from their point of view as they wander, stuck on the island unsure of how they got there, and unsure if they will ever leave. Lots of references to snow and frost are used as we live in Canada, and there is a lonely but beautiful character to the long winter we experience. Another recurring theme is the storm, which brings change and renewal; it is — for lack of a better term — the symbol of hope and of a brighter future.

“Overall, SHATTERED SHORES has a melancholic feel to it. It is definitely darker than our other albums, but we feel that it is much more mature and identifiable with an audience. It’s not meant to be depressing, but it deals with real issues and lots of the time those are not pretty. While it is a darker album, the message is not. Overcoming internal issues and feelings is the prime focus, and to describe how important that is, it is necessary to spend time describing the more pessimistic side of things and what makes it so crippling. The songs are more involving and deeper in meaning and structure than our last release, and we took a step back technically on purpose. Individually, the instruments are not as ‘crazy’ as before, but we had a vision for the songs this time, we could see the end product and knew that to get there we didn’t have to play the most technically demanding things as fast as we could. The songs, while more simple, have far more feeling and emotion than before and we are very proud of what we have produced. We hope that everyone listening to the album can find something they enjoy, something they identify with, and something that makes them want to continue listening.”

Album Purchase:

Silent Line is composed of Mike Burton leading the charge on guitar and vocals, Randy Bergh writing pummeling guitar riffs, Andy Sidloski crafting driving bass lines, and Adam Kallstrom thundering on drums. The lineup charges audiences with their energy and fills the entire room with its symphonic melodies. Their dedication to their craft is strengthened by their loyal fans, who have supported their development over the years with their two previous albums BORN OF A DYING STAR (2012) and ONE BODY BLADE (2010).

1. Frost Of The Night (5:46)
2. Erosion (3:52)
3. Black And White (3:21)
4. Shattered Shores I: Timeless Night (5:45)
5. Summer Song (5:40)
6. Starfall (4:08)
7. Shattered Shores II: A New Beginning (8:08)
8. Into The Chasm (4:39)
9. The Faceless Shadow (6:24)
10. Embrace The End (5:19)
Album Length: 53:07

-Native Construct Launches Cover Of “Empty Chairs At Empty Tables” From “Les Miserables;” Band To Kick Off Tour With Between The Buried And Me And Enslaved Later This Month

After completing a USA headlining run this past summer, progressive metal outfit Native Construct is ready to embark on another North American trek, set to kick off November 18th in Cincinnati, Ohio. Featuring Between The Buried And Me, Enslaved, and Intronaut, this tour package is a must-see for all prog music fans! See below for dates.

In anticipation of the upcoming run, Native Construct has launched a new video today, which showcases front man Robert Edens’ incredible vocal range with a cover of Les MisĂ©rables’ “Empty Chairs At Empty Tables.” Watch the video at https://youtu.be/nqHRzZbE6Ek .

Myles Yang (guitar) comments: “I’m sure you can hear the musical theatre influence in the music of Native Construct. We’re big fans of it, and this is a tune from an old favorite of ours, ‘Les MisĂ©rables.’ I did this arrangement for Rob to sing on back in our freshman year of college, just for fun. We did a little recording of it in a dorm room, and that was that. Fast forward to a few weeks ago — our guitarist, Poh Hock, was competing in the .strandberg* Guitar Competition. A portion of the competition was decided by popular vote, and we called on our fans for assistance. Turns out we have a great little community going here; we received an outstanding amount of support, and Poh Hock ended up taking first place in the competition. So, as a token of our appreciation, we decided to dust off this old arrangement and make a new and improved version of it for everyone to enjoy. We recorded all new vocals from Rob, and he also did a fresh mix and master of the whole thing. And Max Harchik (bass) directed, shot, and edited a video of it all, for your viewing pleasure. Hope you like it!”

Native Construct will be touring in support of their recently released debut full-length, QUIET WORLD. Crowned a, “masterpiece,” by Heavy Blog Is Heavy in a 5/5 review, QUIET WORLD was largely self-produced and written between 2011 and 2013, when the individual band members weren’t busy with their studies at the Berklee College of Music. What began as jam sessions simply for fun eventually turned into a full-fledged musical endeavor. Having already made their mark on the Billboard charts (#56 Hard Music Albums Chart; #85 New Artist Chart) in addition to securing multiple national tours on this first album, it is anything but quiet in Native Construct’s world.

-Niche: Savannah Quintet Signs With Retro Futurist To Release HEADING EAST LP; Track Playing

Kylesa’s Retro Futurist label has signed dynamic rock quintet Niche for the upcoming release of the band’s third album, HEADING EAST.

What began as a simple three-piece rock band, Savannah, Georgia-based Niche has since coalesced into a formidable quintet. Laying down ’70s-influenced rock with Southern and psychedelic tendencies, where dual guitar solos, three-part vocal harmonies, layered Hammond organ and synths, and a powerful rhythm section fuse together to produce a sound that is both nostalgic and unique, hints of Pink Floyd, Thin Lizzy, and Steely Dan showing through in their well-crafted songs. Founded in 2009 by childhood friends guitarist/vocalist Justin Dick and bassist/vocalist Michael Redmond, the current Niche lineup includes Corey Barhorst on Hammond/synths (Black Tusk, ex-Kylesa), drummer Lee Vallier, and guitarist/vocalist Kristopher Maedke-Russell.

With two previous self-released albums under their belt — SO BE IT and THE OTHER SIDE OF THE END which were both recorded by their good friend Chris Adams — in December 2014, Niche went to The Jam Room in Colombia, South Carolina to record their third album with longtime friend Phillip Cope of Kylesa at the helm of producing the album, the first release with their current lineup. Titled HEADING EAST, the album catapults six new tracks with nearly 40 minutes of mega-rich, perfectly hazy, psychedelically-induced classic rock fueled and jacked-up for modern times, completed with beautiful, kaleidoscopic artwork by Samantha Muljat.

Offers Niche’s Michael Redmond about the new release, “The music scene in Savannah has always been a family to me; we work, play, live, love, cry, and party together. We help and support each other. I could not be happier that something I’m so proud of will be released by friends and musicians here in Savannah.”

HEADING EAST will see release through Retro Futurist on digital and CD November 13th with a vinyl pressing to follow in early 2016. The album’s third song, “On Down The Line,” is now streaming at https://soundcloud.com/niche-167116922/on-down-the-line .

HEADING EAST Track Listing:
1. Exiled To Islands
2. When I’m Gone

4. Dear Sweet Anne
5. Tough And Mean
6. Days To Come

-Magic Circle Unveils Title Track To JOURNEY BLIND LP Via Beatroute Magazine

In preparation of the release of Magic Circle’s sophomore LP, JOURNEY BLIND, through 20 Buck Spin next month, Beatroute Magazine has interrogated the band for an in-depth feature which has now been published alongside an exclusive stream of the album’s title track.

The excellent write-up leading the Beatroute feature offers, “the seven-track release marks an evolution for the band who clearly culls their sound from the British classic doom side of the tracks. Herein lies Witchfinder General and Pagan Altar love aplenty, though channeled through the eyes of five men who have their feet equally planted in the genre of hardcore, where they began their musical journey.” Later it proclaims, “We’ll come right out and say it: Magic Circle has capped off 2015 triumphantly and with any luck, will appear on a plethora of year’s best lists.”

Dive into Beatroute’s “Talking doom, vinyl, and Magic Circle with guitarist Chris Corry” and premiere of the title track right here:

Also stream JOURNEY BLIND’s “A Ballad For The Vultures” through Decibel Magazine here:

JOURNEY BLIND sees its initial release in CD and digital formats on November 20th, with the vinyl to follow in early 2016. Stand by for further details and pre-orders for JOURNEY BLIND, tour dates and more on Magic Circle throughout the weeks ahead.

Following their self-titled debut which was well-received in metal and hardcore circles, Boston’s Magic Circle returns with 45 minutes of dominant, pure, traditional doom-ridden heavy metal on JOURNEY BLIND, a record which sees the outfit doing what they do, but doing it even better. Self-produced and recorded by the band at guitarist CC’s The Pain Cave, the record surges with the viscosity a team of top-tier producers would be proud to back. The cover art for JOURNEY BLIND is an unused piece by legendary artist Joe Petagno (Motörhead, Mammoth Grinder, Autopsy) dating to 1979 yet properly fitted to this modern ripper. Surging with over 45 minutes of doomed heavy metal that invokes the masters in their purest form, JOURNEY BLIND is a record which could have been captured three decades ago yet booms with a refreshed spirit to guide today’s misguided youth back to their unbeknownst roots.

Armstrong Metal Fest’s eighth annual 2016 edition will be taking place on July 15th and 16th in Armstrong, BC at the Hassen Arena to showcase over 40 Western Canadian and international bands.

Previous years of the festival have seen lineups with Cattle Decapitation, Suffocation, Anciients, Bison BC, Striker, Crimson Shadows, Holy Grail, Archspire, Cryptopsy, Unleash The Archers, Divinity, Into Eternity, Ninjaspy, Vesperia, XUL, Odinfist, Death Toll Rising, and Gomorrah, among many others.

Taking influence from Europe’s music festival circuit, Armstrong Metal Fest is a heavy metal celebration that encourages metal heads from across Canada and the globe to mosh and camp with the backdrop of great outdoors of British Columbia’s Okanagan Valley. What started as a backyard party in 2009 with nothing but 11 local metal bands such as Terrifier, Xul, and Odinfist, to name a few, has grown into a a huge success admired by the Western Canadian Metal scene. 2016 will be the eighth year of the festival and is planned to be the largest year for music and attendance yet. This year’s team of organizers known as the West Metal Entertainment Society is the most dedicated to date and are excited to present an incredible lineup along with some changes to come for AMF 2016.

-Ice War will release a two-track EP entitled BATTLE ZONE on December 18. Hype: “From the ashes of cult favorites Iron Dogs arises Ice War, and Iron Bonehead Productions is proud to present the band’s debut EP, BATTLE ZONE. Set to be released on 7″ vinyl, BATTLE ZONE is two tracks of ancient heavy metal classicism. Much like Iron Dogs, Ice War aesthetically exist in that turn-of-the-’80s realm where the New Wave of British Heavy Metal was in full stride and the American HM scene was coalescing before speed metal and thrash took over the rest of the decade. The title track is a moody slow-burner while the B-side, ‘This Was Our Home,’ is an up-tempo rocker — enter the Battle Zone with Ice War!” See http://www.facebook.com/icewarmetal for more.

-In Vain has released “Dragon Huntress” as the first single from THE LITTLE THINGS THAT MATTER; check it out now at Soundcloud, at https://soundcloud.com/puresteelpublishing/dragon-huntress . The clear, transparent production and outstanding song writing in the manner of Teutonic legends like Running Wild, Grave Digger, and more meets Mediterranean spontaneity, which gave a new spirit to the scene in the last few years!” See http://www.invainmetal.com/ for more.

-Trans-Siberian Orchestra will release LETTERS FROM THE LABYRINTH on November 13. On LETTERS FROM THE LABYRINTH TSO deals with subjects as broad as humanity’s journey through the ages (‘Time & Distance’), and as specific as bullying (‘Not The Same’), the fall of the Berlin Wall (‘Prometheus’), and the world banking controversies (‘Not Dead Yet’).” Track listing: “Time & Distance,” “Madness Of Men,” “Prometheus,” “Mountain Labyrinth,” “King Rurik,” “Prince Igor,” “The Night Conceives,” “Forget About The Blame,” “Not Dead Yet,” “Past Tomorrow,” “Stay,” “Not The Same,” “Who I Am,” “Lullaby Night,” “Forget About The Blame” (featuring Lzzy Hale).
