Millennial Reign was formed as a solo album project by ASKA bassist Dave Harvey. Writing for the album began in 2010 as Dave searched for the right vocalist and drummer. Bryan Diffee, who had worked with Dave in a prior band a few years earlier, was recruited to play drums. Once a solid drummer was secured, Trae Doss came on board to write and record vocals. All guitar, bass, and key tracks for Millennial Reign’s debut self-titled album were written and recorded by Dave Harvey. The album was recorded at The Recovery Room Studio with engineer Ty Sims and released independently in 2012.

A year or so passed and Dave decided to start writing material for the second album. Trae and Bryan weren’t available to work on the sophomore album so Dave began searching for a vocalist as music writing continued. James Guest of the multiple album project Eden’s Realm replied to an online ad and it was soon obvious that he was definitely the right guy for the job.

As writing between both Dave and James began, Wayne Stokely, who had worked with Dave in various projects, was recruited to record drums. After some discussion as things progressed, the decision was made to make Millennial Reign a full band, rather than just a recording project.

Several bass players were auditioned and Daniel Almagro, who works with Wayne in their power metal band Infidel Rising, was chosen. Once Daniel was on board, full band rehearsals began as they continued the search for the right second guitarist.

Months of rehearsals went by with several sporadic guitarist auditions, and the final member Jason Donnelly was chosen as second guitarist. Wayne, Daniel, and Jason were all a perfect fit and things began moving forward at a great pace.

Once recording was finished, mix and mastering took place at Nomad Studio with engineers JT Longoria and Gary Long. A deal was made with Swedish label Ulterium Records for an October 30th release in both Europe and North America for the new album CARRY THE FIRE.

Fans of Iron Maiden, Queensryche, Judas Priest, and Crimson Glory will not be disappointed with this new album. Millennial Reign should be in any collection of melodic or traditional power metal.

Betsy/Bitch Reissue

Our partnership with Metal Blade Records isn’t limited to simply the ARTCH reissues this month. We are also happy to present a new reissue of Betsy’s lone album original released in 1988. Betsy is simply long-running L.A. metal act, Bitch, with a name change in 1988. Crunchy riffs and super catchy choruses, everything a metal fan could hope for!

The first 100 customers to order will get a free, limited edition, BETSY cover art magnet.

BETSY will be available in our store starting September 25th.

Betsy – BETSY
CD (DIVE092)

Betsy Weiss, a.k.a. Betsy Bitch, has been a mainstay in the hard rock and heavy metal scene since the early ’80s. The Los Angeles-based vocalist’s band, Bitch, was the first band to ever release a record on future indie label giant Metal Blade. Bitch is still active decades later, performing with artists like Doro and Loudness, and playing festivals throughout the globe.

Despite Bitch’s success, Weiss agreed to change the name of the band to Betsy in 1988 to see if it could help them reach a wider audience. Working with producer Chris Minto, the band released an eponymously-titled album that same year. The resulting record features some of the most magnetic songs in Weiss’ discography. Songs like “You Want It, You Got It” and “Flesh And Blood” are hook-filled affairs that any fan of Pat Benatar and melodic rock in general will absolutely eat up. The Betsy moniker might have only lasted for the one album, but the material certainly deserves a revisit.

Originally released by Metal Blade, BETSY has been out of print for years now. That’s where Divebomb Records come into the picture. The label secured the rights to reissue the album and worked closely with Betsy Bitch on the expanded liner notes. Not only does the CD include a brand new interview with the singer, it also features photos from her personal archives. If you love hard rock and AOR, the Betsy album deserves a space in your CD collection.

Track List:
1. You Want It, You Got It
2. You’ll Never Get Out (Of This Love Alive)
3. The Devil Made You Do It
4. Rock ‘N Roll Musician
5. Cold Shot To The Heart
6. Flesh And Blood
7. Turn You Inside Out
8. What Am I Gonna Do With You?
9. Stand Up For Rock
10. Sunset Strut
11. Get Out

Bonus Tracks:
12. Walls Of Love
13. Sunset Strut (Remix)

-Zierler — Feat. Beyond Twilight, Fates Warning, & Scar Symmetry Members — To Release Debut Album, ESC

COPENHAGEN, DENMARK — Transatlantic progressive metal conglomerate Zierler have announced the long-awaited release of their debut album, ESC, via US-based Vanity Music Group. Masterminded by Danish song writer and keyboardist Finn Zierler (ex-Beyond Twilight), who has assembled some of the world’s most well-respected metal musicians for his latest venture, ESC is set for an October 16 release worldwide.

His first new album in a decade, ESC is Finn’s most mature as well as his most daring musical work to date. Drawing from a wide array of influences that bring to mind everything from the unabashed pomp of classic Queen and the madness of Devin Townsend, to the virtuosity of Dream Theater and the eclectic stylings of Hollywood’s Danny Elfman, Zierler masterfully walk the fine line between genius and insanity, combining a powerful, multi-layered progressive metal foundation with an often dark, majestic orchestral feel. The result is an intricate musical tour-de-force that took the better part of two years to complete.

“I set different goals for myself in making this new album. I wanted to accomplish doing an album that was 100% uncompromising in every way. I wanted to break through new creative areas. And I wanted to show compositions, structures, and techniques that no one has ever heard or seen before,” reflects Finn on the making of ESC.

“This is by far the most time consuming, complex, and detail-oriented album I’ve ever worked on. I took the time necessary to record this beast out of respect for the players, the compositions, and the music itself. I put a lot of emphasis on not taking the easy way out, not using technology to do edits to save time or whatever. The musicians involved are all so talented — there’s no cheating, no copy/paste anywhere. Everything on the album is recorded as organically as possible. Personally, I’m sick of listening to ‘plastic’ albums that sound more like machines than humans!”

Joining Finn on ESC are Swedish guitarist Per Nilsson (Scar Symmetry, Kaipa), the first to come aboard, and Norwegian bassist/vocalist Truls Haugen (Intense, Circus Maximus) on the Scandinavian side. Finn also reached out across the pond to a pair of Texas standouts, drum veteran Bobby Jarzombek, whose stellar resume includes the likes of Fates Warning, Halford, Riot, and Spastic Ink, and vocal powerhouse Kelly Sundown Carpenter, who sang on Beyond Twilight’s 2005 album, SECTION X, and was last seen with Ozzy Osbourne guitarist Gus G’s band, Firewind, as well as Darkology.

The album’s stellar mix comes courtesy of another Beyond Twilight alum and long-time friend, noted studio whiz Jacob Hansen, best known for his affiliation with Danish superstars Volbeat as well as his work with Amaranthe and Destruction, amongst others. Last but not least, acclaimed London-based graphic artist Rob Sindermann has been tapped to create the stunning visuals for the ESC album packaging which includes an elaborate deluxe booklet.

ESC track listing:
1. A New Beginning
2. Aggrezzor
3. Darkness Delight
4. Dark To The Bone
5. Evil Spirit
6. Married To The Cause
7. No Chorus
8. Rainheart
9. You Can’t Fix Me No More

11. Whispers

Kerion biography:
Kerion is a symphonic metal band from Nice, France that was formed in 2002. They released two demos conceptually based on the heroic-fantasy tale “Staraxis” written by Chris Barberi: THE CONSPIRACY OF DARKNESS and THE LAST SUNSET. In 2008 their first album HOLY CREATURES QUEST was released and showed a powerful and distinguished kind of Symphonic Metal: direct, aggressive, epic, and poetic.

Kerion presented something from the start that made them stand out in the scene. They had a majestic choir directed by Phil Gordana (Fairyland), an impressive cover artwork by JP Fournier (Avantasia, Edguy), and a powerful production by Wildric Lievin (Hamka, Fairyland) and Guillaume Serra at Harkam Studio.

During 2010 the second album THE ORIGINS was released by the young Canadian label Metalodic Records. The album was the start of the Barberi’s tale. Newer fans had also requested to hear old demos so the band decided to rewrite some of the songs and record them properly and include them on this album.

Kerion had grand plans for their new album and in 2012 the next album CLOUDRIDERS PART 1: ROAD TO SKYCITY was released. It was a concept album with a whole new fantasy story and the music was a blend of the classic Rhapsody Of Fire-inspired symphonic power metal together with folk and Celtic music inspired by bands like Elvenking. The album was very well received around the world and Kerion was growing as a band with this strong album together with touring after the release of the album.

Finally the time has come to present the new Kerion album, and the follow-up to the 2012’s ROAD TO SKYCITY album, entitled CLOUDRIDERS PART 2: TECHNOWARS.

This time Kerion had the goal to make every aspect of the release better and have come up with an impressive album. The concept on the album is the conclusion of the CloudRiders story, an epic battle between the old world and Skycity’s army.

The album includes impressive performances by guests like Elisa C. Martin (DarkMoor, Dreamaker), Rachel Aspe (ETHS), Phil Giordana (Fairyland), Raphael Dantas (Caravellus), and Fil Palmer (Replosion). The production was once again handled by Willdric Lievin and the artwork was created by Genzoman, famous for his involvements with “World Of Warcraft” and Marvel.

CLOUDRIDERS PART 2: TECHNOWARS takes you on a majestic journey filled with symphonic power metal, cinematic influences, and even some electro influences. Kerion boldly steps out and call this style “Comics Metal.”

Kerion lineup:
Flora Spinelli – Vocals
Remi Carrayrou – Lead & Rhythm Guitars
Anthony Schutz – Bass
Sylvain Cohen – Rhythm Guitars

-Doolittle Group Is Proud To Announce The Release For September 2015: Haunted By Destiny’s ARIA FOR AN ANGEL

Label: Doolittle Group
Style: Alternative Rock
Release: September 20, 2015

Specials: The only thing bigger than the ambitions and the commitment of the band is the music. Haunted By Destiny delivers between the lines and offers something new, something different, and something big. Following the success of ARIA Haunted By Destiny wants to reach out and grasp the world.

Haunted By Destiny?

The band was formed and born in Norrkoping, Sweden — where drummer Christian Gardefuhr and guitarist Johan Söderhielm decided it is time to make reality of their creations. Evelina Eliasson was found on the musical stage, and immediately brought the music to new stages with their energy, attitude, and pop way of singing. At this point the recording of demos began, and new songs got written. Soon the band was joined by bass player Marcus K Johansson and young but talented guitarist Simon Weston.

Through Peter “PP” Samuelsson and PPP Recordings the band produced their first EP, ARIA. This contained the four songs — “Freakshow,” “Secret Delight,” “Follow,” and “Healthy Girl” — and was released on November 25th.

And Now?

After the success of ARIA, Haunted By Destiny decided to keep going with this fortuned road. But ARIA also needed to be delivered live to the audiences, and the band started performing shows wherever they could. With energy, goodwill, lectures taken and the ambitions that had grown with time the band became a name you could count on. And now it’s time for the world to find out why.

The Fortuned Road

So once again the band picked up their instruments, crammed them into a way-too-small Volvo, and got on the roads to pay another visit to PPP Recordings. This time there were eight new songs on the agenda, and these songs have taken off to never imagined heights. The mixes of this product is still finding their way home, and in other words there is an album on the table here.

Haunted By Destiny delivers a new sound to the stage and also on album.

Brazil’s power metallers Dragonheart were formed in 1997 by the brothers Marco and Marcelo Caporasso, Eduardo Marques, and Mauricio Taborda, all of whom had prior band experience. They shared a common goal however, to form a professional heavy metal band and thus Dragonheart was born.

Each band member introduced their own music influence into the band’s style, mainly ’80s Heavy Metal, although the addition of other musical styles such as classical and medieval music as well as Celtic were thrown into the mix.

In 2000, the band’s debut album (UNDERDARK) was released, receiving high praises and on the strength of that album the band was repeatedly invited to perform live, including an opening slot for Nightwish’s show in Curitiba in July 2000.

In 2002 the band’s second album (THRONE OF THE ALLIANCE) was released and three years later their third album (VENGEANCE IN BLACK). During all this time the band continued their live performances and after some lineup changes (including the departure of Marcelo Caporasso), 2015 finds them with a refreshed lineup and sound as well as their new, fourth, album, titled THE BATTLE SANCTUARY.

Dragonheart’s sound is heavy and powerful! It’s sometimes dark and while mostly fast-paced, it has some occasional doomy passages, complementing the band’s epic and medieval fantasy themes even more. The album features a guest appearance by original member Marcelo Caporasso and a brilliant cover artwork design by talented artist Dusan Markovic.

THE BATTLE SANCTUARY is released worldwide on October 2nd on CD and digital and it is already available for pre-order at http://store.pitchblackrecords.com and http://pitchblackrecords.bandcamp.com .

-Magick Touch Signs With Edged Circle, Premieres First Track

Edged Circle Productions is proud to announce the signing of hard rock stalwarts Magick Touch. The first fruit of this signing will be the Norwegian band’s debut album, ELECTRICK SORCERY, which will be released early next year on both CD and vinyl formats. Exact release date, as well as cover and track listing, will be announced soon, but digital streaming of Magick Touch’s ELECTRICK SORCERY is available now through Spotify.

A statement from the band reads: “Magick Touch explore the mystery and magic of the hard rock riff, a cosmic entity that has amused and frightened mankind for ages. By utilizing the unholy trinity of electric guitar, thunderous bass, and explosive drums, the band seeks to evoke and further enhance the elements that human kind in a casual manner refers to as hard rock. Whereas paying great respect to the groundbreaking and inspirational work of ancient sorcerers like Lynott, The Youngs & Scott, Blackmore, Coverdale, Stanley, Frehley, Simmons, and young master Hudson, Magick Touch do not shy away from adding contemporary (magic) touches to the traditions of the Elders. Proud to be in the service of the greater universal powers, there is still hard rock to be revealed — believe the true wonders to come!”

The first wonder to be revealed from Magick Touch’s ELECTRICK SORCERY is “Trouble & Luck,” which can be heard exclusively at https://youtu.be/JkO7rhIXR6Y . More info, as well as audial teases, to follow.

Magick Touch hails from Bergen, the second largest city in Norway, known for its wet and cold climate. Yet, the city’s hard rock community is as warm and welcoming as a summer breeze. In the last 20 years, Bergen has spawned many great, hard-hitting bands with international success. The hard-hitters in Magick Touch are as follows:

HK Rein: loud lead guitar and vocals. Favors classic hard rock, mighty guitar solos, beer, and whiskey. He likes a traditional approach to hard rock, but he’s never afraid to think outside the box as long as the bottom line is rock ‘n’ roll.

Bård “Heavy” Nordvik: Mean, lean sweat machine. Sticks are swingin’ and ears are ringin’.

Christer Ottesen: That old sly cat, brings his thunderous bass and unhinged vocals both to — and under — the table.

-CE Promotion To Release Darkness Light’s LIVING WITH THE DANGER On September 11

Finally the wait is over for all fans of rock music, and especially fans of Darkness Light can rejoice — Cristian Bettendorf and Dixie Krauser’s first studio album is finally on the market and promises plenty of emotion and joy for all lovers of rock music! The multi-faceted album offers everything from hard edge guitar sounds to epic hard rock melodies as well as rock ballads. Complex orchestration with countless guitar melodies are responsible for the unique and magnificent rock music sound on this album. This album has everything that rock music offers and that makes it unique.

Dietrich “Dixie” Krauser is already a real superstar in his hometown Temeschburg in Romania; he studied music there, and already had numerous successes and written music history in Romania. Cristian Bettendorf and Dixie Krauser met in Germany during the 1990s after Dixie, who had emigrated to Germany in 1985, moved from Hamburg to Augsburg. They are both part of several bands, have wide experience in the music business and with their first joint studio album LIVING WITH THE DANGER they made a long desired dream come true.

The album, which focuses on being individual and authentic, as well as on presence and substantial aspects, dissolves the boundaries between the musician and the listener.

Cristian Bettendorf founded Darkness Light in the beginning of 2011. A few months later he asked his longtime friend and successful colleague Dixie Krauser to join the project, and together they founded a melodic hard & heavy rock band in their home town Augsburg. The goal of the two passionate musicians was their own, first debut album, which should overcome any existing boundaries. After intensive and hard work on this album Dixie was sadly diagnosed with a severe illness, which delayed further work and finally the whole album was put on hold. By end of 2014, after Dixie’s recovery, the musicians took up work on the album again and in 2015 the brilliant debut album LIVING WITH THE DANGER could finally be released.

Electronic and acoustic sounds and a very unique instrumentation result in these outstanding and unforgettable melodies. LIVING WITH THE DANGER is simply irresistibly catchy for all of us rock music fans!
