-Motörhead To Release Their 22nd Studio Album BAD MAGIC On August 28, 2015 Via UDR Music/Motörhead Music

In their 40th Anniversary Year, the band also announces 40th Anniversary European tour in the Fall with more dates internationally to follow.

Freedom to believe don’t have a price
Innocence never gets too old
You need a bolt of rock
Severe toxic shock
Electricity deep in your soul

“Electricity” – Motörhead

After 40 years rattling teeth, bones and ears with their legendary rock ‘n’ roll, you might excuse Motörhead if they wanted to ease off. Put their feet up. Relax a little. But that’s just it…

…this is Motörhead.

And instead, Motörhead gleefully say a loud and hearty “bollocks” to that sort of feeble-minded thinking with their 22nd studio album, BAD MAGIC. Bristling with thunderous attitude, pioneering spirit, and some of the fiercest rhythms and riffs that’ll beat your ears into submission this year, BAD MAGIC is a massive kick in the teeth for anyone who dared believe it might be otherwise. Indeed, if those people still remain, they would do well to grab some big fat earplugs, fall to their knees, and pray like buggery, because big-rig head crushers like “Thunder And Lightning” and the especially l-o-u-d “Teach ‘Em How To Bleed” show that Motörhead are as strong, mean, loud, relentless, uncompromising, and goddam heavy as ever.

Drawing on their own vast catalogue of road-warrior freewheeling rock ‘n’ roll spirit, BAD MAGIC also strides confidently into some of the earlier attitudes of Motörmusic. Written and recorded in the studio together, for the first time in the Kilmister/Campbell/Dee era, the more “live” approach to creating BAD MAGIC has obviously paid dividends in this regard. There is the driving malevolence of “Choking On Your Screams,” with Lemmy in magnificently omnipotent vocal mood, “Electricity” carries a hefty chunk of punk attitude married with some of Phil Campbell’s best lead work in years, while “Shoot Out All of Your Lights” is all devilish, greasy biker-borne-screw-you-and yours, Mikkey Dee’s tribal drums pounding out a great path for more Kilmister proclamations. The boys even enjoyed a guest appearance from Queen’s Brian May on “The Devil,” adding a scintillating solo on this thunderous Motörstomper.

Produced at NRG Studios with long-time producer Cameron Webb, BAD MAGIC came together after a couple of years which saw Motörhead enjoy their most successful international era in over two decades off the back of their last release AFTERSHOCK. Lemmy also finally decided to face the fact he is flesh, blood, and mortal like all of us, adjusting his lifestyle to kick the ass of health issues and re-emerging stronger, leaner and meaner than ever.

His own personal performances on BAD MAGIC rank as some of the most wide-ranging and unique he has delivered in years, and on the ballad “Until The End,” Lemmy opens up with equal levels explanation and intent on the simple but important matters which life conjures for us all. Add to all of this a wonderfully executed, gritty delivery of The Rolling Stones classic “Sympathy For The Devil,” and it will be clear to anyone with a pair of ears that BAD MAGIC is Motörhead’s finest work in over two decades.

You can also expect the road to get its ass kicked by Motörhead once again in the last half of 2015! Starting in mid-August, there will be a North American tour with Anthrax which ends with the now-legendary Motörboat cruise between September 28 – October 2 from Miami, Florida to Nassau in the Bahamas, also featuring Slayer and Anthrax among a bumper lineup of bands. And Motörhead’s 40th Anniversary European Winter tour will start on November 15, 2015 at Le Zenith in Paris, ending on December 6 at the Hartwell Arena in Helsinki, Finland. More dates will be announced soon, so keep checking the band’s official website http://www.imotorhead.com/ as well as the following social media platforms for details.

All in all, with BAD MAGIC’s release now confirmed, Motörheadbangers and rock ‘n’ roll fans worldwide can prepare themselves for the prodigal return of rock music’s greatest, meanest, dirtiest, and most relentless trio… yeah, believe it: Motörhead proudly, and defiantly, remain the flag you’re proud to fly through thick and thin.

-Annihilator: New Studio Album, New Lineup, And Summer/Headline Tours

[Note: This comes from Annihilator’s Facebook page, at https://www.facebook.com/pages/Annihilator/9614139730 . – Tim]

Legendary Canadian thrash/heavy metal masters Annihilator will release their brand new (and 15th!) studio album, SUICIDE SOCIETY, on September 18th, 2015 via UDR Music, worldwide.

As usual, guitar wizard Jeff Waters handles all songwriting duties, plays all guitar & bass, engineers, produces, mixes, and masters SUICIDE SOCIETY… and Waters is also back commanding lead vocal duties, as he did on the critically acclaimed KING OF THE KILL (1994), REFRESH THE DEMON (1996), REMAINS (1997), and other Annihilator albums over the years.

Waters on his return to vocal duties: “Dave (Padden/vocalist from 2003-2014) and I have, essentially, been Annihilator since 2003 but he resigned last December, citing having had enough of touring, being away from home and other commitments. I thank him for his 11 years with Annihilator. That said, Annihilator and I are known for never giving up and, occasionally, coming up with something even better than its former offering(s): this is undeniably the case with SUICIDE SOCIETY!”

Listen to some clips from SUICIDE SOCIETY and see the CD cover here:

With SUICIDE SOCIETY, Annihilator goes headfirst into some of the most technically perfect, crisp, and crushingly taut riffage Waters has ever produced. Although Waters’ vocals keep traces of stylings from his KING OF THE KILL album, they now evoke a surprising blend of legends such as Staley, Osbourne, Hetfield, and Mustaine. This, in a twisted way, mirrors Waters’ signature blend of riffing, drums grooves, and bass; all drawing from multiple sources and genres.

Waters has built a worldwide reputation as being a premier guitarist and songwriter; the conciseness and arrangement of “Creepin’ Again” is both an air-guitarist’s dream and a sharp reminder of this. The gloriously-brutal thrash of “My Revenge” calls up a vintage of ’85 with the technical chops of 2015. The neo-classic title track defiantly expresses anger at the state of world affairs, while offering up hope in closing. With the multi-layered power of the anthem “Snap,” Waters illustrates the diversity of Annihilator’s sound, without sacrificing one decibel of attack.

“Metal fans will likely sport evil, satisfied grins on their faces, when they hear this record,” chuckles Waters, “but in the words of Joe Perry: ‘Let the Music Do the Talking!'”

The full track listing is:
1. Suicide Society
2. My Revenge
3. Snap
4. Creepin’ Again
5. Narcotic Avenue
6. The One You Serve
7. Break, Enter
8. Death Scent
9. Every Minute

Metal fans all across the world are aware of Annihilator’s stellar, energetic and “real” live shows. Drum monster Mike Harshaw continues on for his fourth year with the band, one familiar name returns, and another is born: bassist Cam Dixon (from KING OF THE KILL era) returns to the fold and guitarist Aaron Homma makes his debut with the band.

Aside from the band’s upcoming, scheduled devastation at some of Europe’s mega-summer festivals (ex. Wacken Open Air), Annihilator will be headlining Europe this fall on their “Europe In The Blood” tour 2015. Talks are underway to bring the band to South America, Japan, and likely North America in 2016.

Capturing the classic thrash sound of the Big Four in their prime; early Metallica, Testament, Slayer, and Megadeth as well as lesser known cult heroes Exodus, Annihilator, Forbidden, and Havok. Fallen Angels is influenced by a wide range of ’80s thrash as well as classic metal from the ’70s and ’80s. The band combines these elements in a fresh, modern sounding album with the explosive riffs and solos that one might have expected to hear on the radio around 1989. Fallen Angels is a band that thrash fans and more classic metal oriented fans can agree on because the music is catchy but also very aggressive.

For fans of:
Late ’80s Bay Area thrash, Testament, Havok, Forbidden, Exodus, ’80s era Metallica and Megadeth, Annihilator, Anthrax, Overkill, Death Angel

Steve Spitzbart – Drums
Bradzilla – Vocals

Matt Be Roth – Guitars

“if you want intricate, tuneful thrash metal loaded with gratuitous leads and quasi-political lyrics, you’ve got it.” – Terrorizer

“think the weighty arrangements and acoustic sections of Metallica-meets-the technical wizardry of Forbidden, with hints of Realm’s progressive tendencies and Toxik’s shredding leads and shameless melodies.” – Terrorizer

“Pure US-Thrash” – Rock Hard

“From a savage, high-octane riff fest in ‘Legacy Of Pain’ to a mid-paced, pounding skull crusher ‘Descension Into Madness,’ Fallen Angels not only show their true ability to write thrash songs that stand out effortlessly, but are also determined to get their name on people’s lips for good — along with the excellence of their second album, ENGINES OF OPPRESSION. This stuff is meant to kill, even from a long distance.” – Metal-Rules

“Fallen Angels are growing, the riffing already aspires to high places” – Heavy Worlds

“Fallen Angels is able to combine the aggression of Dark Angel, the songcraft of Metallica, and the masterful musicianship of Coroner to create some superb thrash.” – Lastrit

“US Thrash Metal with a devastating Bay Area touch” – Metal To Infinity

“If you’re the one hooked on the almighty forces of US Thrash Metal, Seattle-Washington based Fallen Angels’ mission is clear… they’re here to provide the ‘wild ones’ among us with furious sounds of steel, headbangers — take your stand!” – Metal To Infinity

Chaos and Order, two seemingly opposing forces that, when observed closely enough, work together subtly to create art in its most divine form. Enter The Order Of Chaos, a highly regarded and well respected heavy metal tour de force from the northern wastelands of Alberta, Canada. For the last 10 years, trudging through the snow covered landscape, this band has cut its teeth in the most demanding gigging environment this side of the equator. Now, bringing their unique, fresh, and well developed sound to a style of music so saturated with sound-a-likes and copycats, The Order Of Chaos has their sights set across the Atlantic Ocean on the homeland of Heavy Metal… Europe.

With two albums and an EP under their belt, the band is prepared to unleash a torrent of brand new material that will redefine genres and carve a path no heavy metal band has even attempted to produce. Meet Amanda Kiernan, a hurricane of live intensity and energy unmatched by her peers. From soaring melodic choruses to gritty, in-your-face thrash she doesn’t let up for a moment. Her unique take on metal vocals and prowess as a hybrid singer has affirmed her place in metal history. Backed by the dueling guitar virtuosity of John Simon Fallon and John Saturley, and the brick wall rhythm section of Duncan Hickerty and Tim Prevost, this band is something that must truly be seen to be believed, (just ask anyone who has attended their shows).

In September of 2012, after signing with Red Lion Music, The Order Of Chaos made their first appearance overseas, stunning fans at the Turock Open Air Festival and in clubs across central Europe. Then again, just seven months later they returned with Vicious Rumors supporting them on their Electric Punishment Tour, gaining many new fans and quickly securing a solid reputation as a phenomenal live act to behold.

With the future looking bright, the determination to succeed, and the creative talent to put forth a fresh sound for heavy metal lovers everywhere, The Order Of Chaos is primed for an assault on stages, record stores and headbangers everywhere.

Shared stage w/:
Godsmack, Vicious Rumors, Rage, Helstar, Ensiferum, Sonata Arctica, A Perfect Circle, 3 Inches Of Blood, Paul Di’Anno, Iron Savior, Circle II Circle, Ripper Owens

“I recommend this record for all the fans of the old school heavy/speed/thrash metal fans, and even the speed/black metal fans will enjoy the energy of the vocals in this record. Every single solo and every insane scream in this record are worthy listening, so if you wish to relive the old school heavy metal energy into the building, then blow the speakers with this CD and keep the old school spirit alive!” – http://www.jorzine.com

“the unbeatable combination of old school metal, coupled with thrash influences and Amanda’s dominating presence create an interesting piece of work with great variety that would excite and interest listeners that don’t pay attention to labels.” – Rock Pages, Greece

“Their first album THE ORDER OF CHAOS was released in 2009 and was much respected in Canada. With BURN THESE DREAMS there is a disc which offers an exciting, well-crafted mix of Hard Rock and Heavy Metal. While still committed to the metal, but virtuosic and more varied.” – Stormbringer Austria

“This CD is like heroin, you get the hit of BURN THESE DREAMS and you will not be able to stop listening to it. 2012 has really produced some f*cking amazing music and this CD almost heads the class, what a killer CD. This is very cool.” – JamesD, wickedchannel.com

A Vancouver born Modern Thrash outfit. Titans Eve formed in 2008 by brothers Brian and Kyle Gamblin, with Casey Ory on drums and later joined by Jesse Hord on bass. From day one the band has written the tunes they want to hear, and taken charge of their musical ambitions on their own terms. The early days saw the four-piece defining their sound and making fans in their home city.

2009/2010 featured their emergence on the Canadian metal scene and the beginning of a strong fan base. They embarked on their first western Canadian tour and gave Canadians a real live taste of their sound. While gaining support and honing their music they ventured into a local studio with the talented Curt Wells. Their first album THE DIVINE EQUAL was later mixed and mastered by Sacha Laskow of Calgary Tech-metal band Divinity. With the release and critical acclaim the album received, their first Cross-Canadian tour followed exposing even more to their unique brand of thrash metal.

2011 saw THE DIVINE EQUAL released to a bigger audience, with a two-month self-booked tour of North America. Titans Eve had the pleasure to play in front of crazed metal fans all over the United States. 2012 started with a bang with their first arena show and fulfilling a dream of playing with Nu-metal leaders Korn. Fresh of the success from their debut, Titans Eve began creating the follow-up, LIFE APOCALYPSE. “This album was written faster and was more of an aggressive attempt at writing and recording an album,” says guitarist Kyle Gamblin. “We hammered out the songs and bunkered down to record in Calgary with Sacha Laskow for a month and recorded every day.”

Taking a turn from their debut, which was released a year previously, but staying true to their personal interpretations of honest, powerful modern metal, “the result, LIFE APOCALYPSE, shows our efforts and captures the best performances from all four members of our band. We worked very hard to deliver something that wouldn’t disappoint fans of our last album,” says Brian Gamblin.

Following the release of LIFE APOCALYPSE that summer, Titans Eve took the “Titan Train” (i.e. their 2007 Ford E-350 van) and travelled across western Canada, bringing their music to as great an audience as possible, supporting Canadian metal heavyweights Anvil followed by a tour with super-group Kill Devil Hill featuring Rex Brown of Pantera. After these incredible tours, they’re biggest venture yet came into focus with an invite to be a support act on the Arch Enemy European Khaos tour. This saw their first tour in Europe, playing to the receptive and enthusiastic European metal crowds.

2013-14 had been used for writing and recording their third album, with breaks from the rehearsals by touring western Canada, playing music festivals and opening for the likes of Diamond Head, Raven, and Soulfly. The album was recorded in Vancouver’s legendary Warehouse Studio with renowned producer and engineer Eric Mosher. The mastering was completed by Canadian metal hero Jeff Waters of Annihilator.

Stay tuned for a new album and new tours in 2015!

“Vancouver thrash/doom metal act unleashes a monster with its third album. Tightly woven tunes are delivered with blistering power, channeling the best of their influences, which range from early era thrash (Metallica, Exodus, Judas Priest) to modern day grind and prog metal (Mastodon). If 2012’s LIFE APOCALYPSE was about confronting your demons, CHASING THE DEVIL is about grabbing the beast by the horns. Highlight tracks: ‘No Kingdom,’ ‘The Grind'” – Vancouver Sun

“Titans Eve are one of the best bands to come out of my home town, Vancouver!” – Michael Livan – The Metal Meltdown – CJSF 90.1 FM

“Titans Eve have conquered their local scene convincingly, and have put their boots into thicker mud, venturing across their native Canada. Touring with bigger names, in support fashion, hungry to belong in the next level. CHASING THE DEVIL will be a sharp weapon to help them carve up the competition. Shepherd Says – 8/10 – Hey, I put them side by side with the giant and it felt like they weathered that barrage. Titans Eve is earning their way up the ladder.” – We Love Metal

“…they’ve certainly stepped it up on their forthcoming album. The band’s concept is good, as they blend equal portions of thrash from bands such as Annihilator and Exodus with the progressive stoner groove of Mastodon and Meshuggah… Each element of the band works in unison as classic melodies and solos are placed side-by-side with meaty chugging and gravely outer-space vocals.” – Flink.TO

“They blend classic heavy, power, and thrash metal with a dose of modern intensity, yet temper it with melody harmony for persuasive, interesting, and entertaining results. Recommended.” – Danger Dog Music Reviews

“CHASING THE DEVIL presents us a modern thrash template that can be as melodic as it is ferocious.” – Dead Rhetoric

“This is the third full-length album of the band and I wonder why they have not been signed by any label. Coming from Vancouver, Canada, these guys forged a very interesting and unique form of thrash metal with modern elements here and there, and high doses of technique at instrumentation.” – Zombie Ritual Zine

“CHASING THE DEVIL’s eight tracks stick to a ferocious mid-paced thrash sound, with a touch of modern metal. The dual guitar team displays not just tasty riffs but intertwining dual harmonies, which sometimes call the mighty Iron Maiden to mind, as well as settling into a deep comfortable groove when called for. Add in the down low and percussion and you’ve got one hell of a sound.” – True Metal Lives

-Steven Wilson Brings HAND. CANNOT. ERASE. To Life; North American Tour Underway Now

Prolific singer-songwriter, producer, multi-instrumentalist, and multiple Grammy nominee, Steven Wilson, is on the first leg of his North American tour in support of his current release, critically acclaimed HAND. CANNOT. ERASE. (Kscope). Full routing below.

Wilson is arguably one of the most important artists in the music community today! If you are not aware of Steven Wilson, he is a musician’s Musician! Well beyond the reach of Prog with his new album, HAND. CANNOT. ERASE., Wilson weaves elements of ethereal Jazz Fusion, while taking you on a multi-layered audio journey inspired by the haunting true tale of a popular young woman forgotten by society and family as she sits dead in her apartment for more than two years.

The critics:
“…a towering masterpiece that will assuredly be a contender for album of the year.” – Metro Weekly

“As someone capable of delivering accessible music that is, at the same time, compositionally and lyrically deep — detailed and, at times, unapologetically complex — Wilson makes absolutely no compromises in doing what he does. And yet, almost in spite of it all, his star continues on an increasingly rapid upward trajectory. One can only hope.” – All About Jazz

“Wilson’s refined skill as a songwriter and studio guru combine to fashion songs that deserve a much wider audience than one that views his work as a modern equivalent of Pink Floyd and Genesis.” – 5 stars – The Guardian

“It’s this ability to combine narrative and music in brave and adventurous ways during a time when the very longevity of the album-as-cohesive-statement is constantly being questioned that makes Wilson one of the most compelling musicians of his era. His music seeks to connect on a deeply human level, and stands in contrast to a popular music culture obsessed with disposability. This makes him a rare and precious commodity.” – Buffalo News

“Go ahead: Close the year-end polls in March. This one is just a tremendous wonder-work.” – The Day

-Karthago Records To Release Expanded Version Of Caress’ THE RETURN OF THE BEAST On June 26

The release date of the Caress album THE RETURN OF THE BEAST on CD is June 26, 2015. The pre-order phase will start on June 12th, 2015 in our webshop, http://www.puresteel-shop.com/ .

The German band Caress was the successor of Dunwich and released one mini-album in 1989, which was only noticed by insiders. The musicians tried to give themselves an international touch by taking pseudonyms like Coco Laross and Ossi Fox. This may be because the band is from Ottersweier, a small village in the southwest of Germany which nobody has ever heard of.

Their album RETURN OF THE BEAST was only locally distributed, although the band was very talented. They had potential, which means that their songwriting was unique and singer Coco gave the songs some recognition value. The artwork was suitable to the taste of the late ’80s and to the songs on the album. So maybe they were a little bit late in those days. In 1989 most Heavy Metal bands were already established, so that they could fight against the new trends. For listeners today remains a fascinating and agreeable contemporary document, with some additional demo songs on this CD edition.

Track List:
1. Our Rights
2. The Ritual
3. United Power
4. The Return Of The Beast
5. Piece Of Action
6. Liberty For All
7. Ragamuffin Blues
8. Outsider
9. Book Of Dreams
10. Into The Night (instrumental)

Coco Laross – vocals
Dany Rosberg – bass
Thommy Malbranc – guitar
Jack-N. Teichmann – guitar (1988 – 1990)
Ossi Fox – drums (1988 – 1990)
Patrick D. – guitar (1990 – 1991)
Frank B. – drums (1990 – 1991)

-Guitarist Kevin Estrella Returns With Pyramids On Mars – ECHO COSMIC, Track-By-Track, & Album Trailer

Crafting Progressive rock, industrial, and metal influences fused with his passion for classical composers such has J.S Bach and Antonio Vivaldi, guitarist Kevin Estrella is carving a new musical direction that few dare to attempt with his solo project Pyramids On Mars. Written all by Estrella from the guitars, bass, and drums, his latest effort ECHO COSMIC is an impressive 10-track journey to follow up his 2013 self-titled debut album. With an ear for melody, and natural use of odd time signatures blended with modern heavy guitar riffs and the sound of classic 1970s analog keyboards, your adventure of music from the Mystical Red Planet begins now with the release of an album trailer for ECHO COSMIC due out on September 8, 2015.

Inspired the by the studies of UFOs, aliens and the artifacts of in our solar system, Pyramids On Mars is an embodiment of spacey music that brings both worlds together as both a musical concept, and message to the world of the alien presence. Formed in 2011, Pyramids On Mars is the solo creation of guitarist Kevin Estrella who offers an aural palette of intense, emotional, three-dimensional, heavy, and melodic progressive rock / metal that includes a range of influences such as Baroque classical guitar, classical composers J.S Bach and Antonio Vivaldi, along with today’s guitar virtuosos Yngwie Malmsteen and Joe Satriani.

“I honestly think ECHO COSMIC will do for this decade what Joe Satrani’s SURFING WITH THE ALIEN did for instrumental rock back in the ’80s. It captures the same passion, energy, and melodic hooks, yet it has an updated sound. Heavier than Satriani though. He is influenced mostly by the blues. I am influenced by metal and classical music. I have always focused on melody. Same with composers like J.S Bach and Antonio Vivaldi. The masters of melody. They are pretty much all I listen to. So what I am doing on stage today, was the norm 300 years ago,” comments Estrella.

Featuring 10 tracks of emotionally high energy music that mostly came to life in Estrella’s dreams over the last two years, the album as a whole pays homage to some of Estrella’s biggest influences while still staying true to himself and his own creations.

“On ECHO COSMIC, I wanted to put more emphasis on the rhythm guitars, bass, and drums. The keyboards are still there, but they play more second fiddle sort of speaking. Some songs are stripped right down to just bass, drums, and lead guitar. I wanted this album to be more in-your-face with less clutter,” says Estrella. “The writing on this album is also inspired by the bands I love the most. I love so many bands and love so many styles. So, I tend to write in whatever style I want to. There are so many other band styles I want to explore. I am probably one of the most unique bands out there that I have no one particular ‘sound.’ But all the songs have a common thread/element that identifies them as being Pyramids On Mars. I think I have an advantage others do not have, because I can transform like a chameleon,” says Estrella.

Track-by-Track Breakdown of ECHO COSMIC explained by Pyramids On Mars’ Kevin Estrella:

“To summarize, the overall storyline of ECHO COSMIC is about mankind’s history of broadcasting radio and TV signals for over 100 years from earth to space. Theoretically, some of these signals should be picked up by alien civilizations. We are announcing our existence through this cosmic echo we are sending out. We may be an insignificant species in a vast universe, but we are leaving a footprint that has infinite influence,” comments Estrella.

1. Dream Division: The whole introduction I heard in a dream. Started off simply with guitar, but got more interesting when the bass and drums join in and are all doing something different from each other. But it all worked. Almost like division. Thus the name.

2. Battle For Rome: Influenced by the X-Box One game trailer “Ryse Son Of Rome.” Watch the trailer, and you can imagine this song playing in it.

3. Death Valley Driver: The main rhythm guitar and drums were bed tracks for this song. Reminded me of driving fast on a desert road.

4. Tribute: I was experimenting with some ’80s guitar tone presets. Improvising, I played the main rhythm part. It sounded like something Randy Rhoads would play. Decided to write a song dedicated to him.

5. Heaven’s Gate: Influenced by a band who has a a dead guy with leather skin for a mascot.

6. Sailing The Oceans Of Neptune: Heard the main riff in my head for weeks. Finally wrote the song. Had a real Hendrix feel to it, with a large Extreme influence.

7. Spectre Of Orion: A song originally written in a band I used to be in called Omega Factor which consisted of just me and a drummer.

8. Order Of The Freemasons: Song written back in 2011. A very dark song about a dark subject. It is more a work of art rather than being a radio-friendly song. A song I am very proud of.

9. Occam’s Razor: A fast, thrash metal song with sharp, jagged teeth. You will hear at least three metal band influences in this one!

10. Echo Cosmic: The flagship of the CD. A song that creates a feeling of loneliness and isolation. That which we are in this vast universe.

“If anything, it is taking the road less travelled — in this case, guitar-driven, instrumental music — that helps Pyramids On Mars stand out from the plethora of other groups vying for a piece of the prog rock pie.” – Canadian Musician Magazine

“Kevin Estrella, much like Vai, much like Satriani, can make his guitar truly communicate and display emotion. There’s a real passion that Kevin plays with that only comes along every so often… a real magic. There could be a complete saturation with this type of instrumentally-driven music one day. I have the feeling that even IF this was to happen, Pyramids On Mars would STILL stand out miles from the rest.” – Sleeping Bag Studios

“The music scene is very saturated with artists and bands pretty much doing the same thing (stylistically speaking). With the current popularity of instrumental guitarists like Joe Satriani, there is a good possibility of instrumental rock coming back. Pyramids On Mars have a niche market with very little competition that they can control the market share in that music genre.” – Jesse Mitchell | Coalition Music

“And with influences like Metallica (probably post-Black Album), Jimi Hendrix, and Joe Satriani it is clear that Pyramids On Mars knows the kind of music they love, how to create their own version, and make us listeners enjoy it as much as they do.” – Metal Addicts

“The guitarist member is impressively high-quality. His constant and non-stop lead work is where he shines. Smooth, melodic, adept, and soaring lead after lead on song after song speaks of good soloing. Kevin Estrella is in the same ballpark as David Gilmour.” – Metallian

“Pyramids On Mars is a musical journey. Dizzying guitar work swiftly flying between genres and showing skill that few acts are capable of achieving in the country right now.” – Two Way Monologues

-Morglbl: Heavy Blog Is Heavy Premieres Opening Track To Sixth Album By French Fusion Trio

France’s unconventional rock/fusion trio, Morglbl, will release their sixth full-length later this month via Free Electric Sound, a division of The Laser’s Edge. Two weeks early, a new single from the volatile TEA TIME FOR PUNKS album has been issued to the public through a premiere of opening track, “Banjovi.”

Comprised of guitarist Christope Godin, bassist Ivan Rougny, and drummer Aurelian Ouzoulias, Morglbl’s virtually vocal-free exploratory musical concoctions, and madcap jazz/jam metal fusion energy have been infiltrating the airwaves for over 18 years, and while TEA TIME FOR PUNKS doesn’t deviate from their standard formula, the album delivers it all with more astounding creativity than ever. The album was recorded during December 2014 — drums by Vincent Thermidor at Studio TF, guitars at Gnõ-Gnõ Studio and bass at Van’s Studio — mixed by Enzo d’Agostino at Elia Studio and mastered at Conkrete Studio by Mobo, and delivers over an hour of nonstop freakshow entertainment fit for virtually any open-minded rock fan.

In advance its release, the album-opening “Banjovi” has been issued by Heavy Blog Is Heavy in an exclusive premiere. Offers the site’s write-up accompanying the track of Morglbl, “While the name might confuse some, I think it attributes itself to the music, and how hard it is to classify this group. They have equal parts funk, metal, and prog, and their style is executed extremely well.”

Stream “Banjovi” by Morglbl via Heavy Blog Is Heavy now:

PureGrainAudio previously issued the album’s “God Shaved The Queen” right here:

Envision equal parts vocal-free fusion and crushing metal power chords, then inject a healthy dose of tongue-in-cheek humor, like Primus, Steve Vai, Allan Holdsworth, and Frank Zappa in a high-speed blender, and you’ve got a grip on what TEA TIME FOR PUNKS beholds.

Free Electric Sound, the instrumental subdivision of progressive rock/metal label group, The Laser’s Edge, released TEA TIME FOR PUNKS digitally and on CD worldwide on May 26. Stand by for further music and info on the album to see release in the coming days.

-In Defence To Release DON’T F*CK WITH THE DUNGEON MASTER Album; “Tacos Til Death” Now Playing At New Noise Magazine

Minneapolis, Minnesota mosh instigators In Defence will independently unleash their face-displacing fourth full-length, DON’T F*CK WITH THE DUNGEON MASTER, later this month, and today the act wages war on the pizza industry with an exclusive premiere of “Tacos Til Death” via New Noise Magazine.

Proclaims the unruly In Defence mob to the triangle-consuming slaves of America, “This song is a declaration of war against the pizza-loving industry, and their efforts to brainwash the masses into buying that abomination that they still have the audacity to call ‘food’ will no longer be tolerated. For far too long the Taco has been belittled and under-represented. This will go on no longer. Today is our day. We are legion. Tacos Till Death.” The featured track runs alongside a gnarly tour diary of the band’s Southeastern US tour earlier this year.

As the salsa drips from your raised, bleeding fist, deploy In Defence’s “Tacos Til Death” via New Noise Magazine:

Early in the year the band also leaked the album-opening “Unholy Water” through Noisey right here:

Jamming 11 rapid, jaw-clenching audio attacks into their latest release, In Defence delivers their most damaging degeneracy to date on DON’T F*CK WITH THE DUNGEON MASTER. Recorded, engineered, and mastered by Adam Tucker at Signaturetone Studios, and mixed by Joel Grind at Audiosiege, the Twin Cities terrors bring their most outwardly tongue-in-cheek lyrical lashings and hyperspeed riff-bashings to date to the plate on their newest monstrosity. Appropriately lunatic cover art by Andrei Bouzikov overtakes the cover of this new brutalizer, which will see release directly through the band on CD and digital outlets on June 16. Preorders for the record are live at http://indefence.bigcartel.com/ .

Already confirmed to take part in the upcoming Full Terror Assault Fest in Cave-In Rock, Illinois September 10 – 12 with the likes of Napalm Death, Obituary, Terrorizer, Eyehategod, and more, the band is working on locking down a West Coast tour in August, a European tour in September and October, and a trek to Japan and Australia in November. Stand by for updates on the impending worldwide invasion of this crew’s unstoppable live madness!

In Defence Live Actions:
9/10-12/2015 Full Terror Assault Fest – Cave-In Rock, IL w/ Napalm Death, Obituary, Terrorizer, Eyehategod

In Defence has proven themselves as a diehard annihilation squad, with an imposing recording resume and untamable fascination with on-stage mayhem. Having formed as a more straightforward hardcore act in 2006, the quartet’s volatile brew quickly decayed into more of a thrash-inspired crossover attack, the sound they’ve dominated in the studio and live ever since. While steadily pushing for positive societal change and unity, their methodology is heavily party and satire-infiltrated versus taking a preacher’s stance with their views. Bringing together headbangers and punks to circle pit in unity, In Defence has crossed the US multiple times a year, having toured and/or shared the stage with The Casualties, Toxic Holocaust, MDC, DRI, Cro-Mags, Goatwhore, Skeletonwitch, Danzig, and Municipal Waste among countless others, in addition to having toured in Puerto Rico and 14 countries in Europe.

-Wacken Metal Battle Canada Announce Vesperia 2015 National Final Champion

ONE BAND RULES THEM ALL! Wacken Metal Battle Canada is proud to announce Vesperia as this year’s 2015 winner. The band was crowned champion after performing alongside Medevil (Vancouver), Blëed (Edmonton), Endless Chaos (Winnipeg), Midnight Malice (Toronto), and Nordheim (Quebec City) who represented the top six metal talents out of 120 competing bands from ten participating cities across Canada.

“We are very proud to present Vesperia’s brand of epic melodic metal to the mighty Wacken festival. This makes it two wins for front man Morgan Rider who played bass for Crimson Shadows during their 2013 win and has been a very active player in the Canadian metal scene for many years. It’s great to see him succeed and carry the torch with Vesperia,” comments WMBC organizer JJ Tartaglia.

Vesperia will now move on to perform at the 11th international Wacken Metal Battle (participating countries can be found here: http://www.metal-battle.com/results/results/ ) at the world’s largest metal festival Wacken Open Air (July 30 – August 1) in Wacken, Germany, which has attendance of over 80,000 people.

The final took place on June 6 at Opera House in Toronto, ON and was judged by Annihilator’s Jeff Waters and Mike Harshaw, Noel Peters (Inertia Entertainment), Lindsay Schoolcraft (Cradle of Filth), Tim Henderson (BraveWords.com), and David Bottrill (Producer, Mixer).

About the finalists:

Endless Chaos
Hometown: Winnipeg, Manitoba
Members: Jorden Gerbrandt – Vocals, Mike Menza – Rhythm/Lead Guitar, Mike Toews – Lead/Rhythm Guitar, Jeff Humarang – Bass, James Burton – Drums
Genre: Blackened Thrash and Death Metal

Abrasive, energetic, and chaotic, Winnipeg, Manitoba’s death/thrash five-piece Endless Chaos is on a mission to get metal fans feeding off its energy and to bring chaos into their world.

After sharing the stage with Skeletonwitch, 3 Inches Of Blood, Wretched, Aborted, and Kataklysm, the band’s direction was clear and Endless Chaos set out to carefully craft its debut EP, REJECTED ATROCITY.

Inspired by one of the finest horror movies of all time, “Re-Animator,” REJECTED ATROCITY will “give you the best taste of what’s to come of Endless Chaos,” says vocalist Jordan Dorge. “When we were writing these songs, we really took in everything we love about death, thrash, and black metal and incorporated it into Endless Chaos.”

All there’s left to do now is bring forth the endless chaos.

Hometown: Chilliwack, BC
Members: Liam Collingwood – Vocals, Gary Cordsen – Guitar, Brett Gibbs – Guitar, Eric Wesa – Bass, Ross Collingwood – Drums
Genre: Heavy Metal

New to the world of metal, though not afraid to show what they’re made of, Medevil came buzzing through into the heavy scene. With a combination of ’80s thrash and diverse progressive sections, they have already proven a lot of their capabilities to their growing fan base.

The band, born in 2014 by Liam (vocals), Eric (bass) and Ross (drums), was formed to help prove to the world that heavy metal is still going strong even in this modern day. After two years of writing and polishing their sound, as well as the inclusion of two powerhouse guitar players Gary and Brett, they finally began to prove what they’re made of to the live audiences throughout Abbotsford and Vancouver. The response: a roaring crowd.

When Ross joined the band he brought in a unique flavor of drumming, influenced by both System Of A Down and Foo Fighters. With this, and Liam’s own Metal Church-esque style of writing, they created the perfect combination of powerful-fast riffs.

Though they love playing in Vancouver and Abbotsford, Medevil have their minds set on the horizon. To enjoy the energy of playing live and treating the world to their original and unique brand of metal is what they are built to do. They continue to work hard and pursue their ambitious dream.

Midnight Malice

Genre: Heavy Metal

Midnight Malice are a Heavy Metal band from Toronto. Heavy in the vein of W.A.S.P., Judas Priest, and Motorhead, Midnight Malice’s debut CD THE PROVING GROUNDS was released January 24, 2014.

Genre: Heavy Metal / Thrash Metal

Pulverizing thrash/death metal that hits you like a bloody knife to the face! Blëed is a horror themed theatrical metal band from Edmonton. With a ferocious heavy sound and a stage show to coincide with the music, Blëed is sure to entertain the crowd.

Hometown: Lévis, Québec
Members: Warraxe – Vocals/Rhythm Guitars, Fred – Lead Guitars, Benfok – Bass/Backing Vocals, Loup – Keyboard, Lucas – Drum
Genre: Folk Metal

Everything started on a particularly not very eventful night back in 2006. Warraxe and Benfok started to create what would eventually be known as “Far Away”. After the first draft of a song that seems to kick some ass, the two men decided it was time to push the project further so they started their quest to find other musicians to complete the band. That quest was long and hard because these musicians not only needed to be serious and talented, they also needed to be compatible with the inferior brains of Warraxe and Benfok. Freydrick was the first one to join the troops… armed with his blonde beard. Then came the protector of thy unholy keyboard, Dark Dreamer, whose evil was just so… evil. Other musicians joined the band as well but due to conflicting schedule, they went on some other path. The horde was almost complete. Warraxe chose the path of the guitar player/singer and his brother-in-law chose the keyboard but a drummer was still missing.

Then from the frozen guts of Hiverna, a troll named Bardunor rose and joined the horde. Unfortunately this troll had to go back to his cave but his quest with the braves folks from Nordheim is not completed… some beer barrels still needs to be drank… but that’s another tale. Then a very old friend came out of the shadows and claimed: “I can play drums… I can play f*cking fast!” So Phil Poul joined and replaced Bardunnor. He contributed to the demo and to the first album LOST IN THE NORTH. Some years passed but in 2011, Phil Poul departed from the band, opening the door for a Red Bearded Viking, the seducing Lucas Biron (Kälter) who joined the barbarian brotherhood. They then loaded the longship and started the quest for their next barrel of potion called REFILL. Soon after the release of the second album, Thom, the brother-in-law of Warraxe had to leave in order to fight the stone cold armies of the east. But during the summer of 2014, they heard a far-away howl… followed by some notes from a piano…

These notes came from a young wolf called the Loup-Gab of America. Since then, the band is complete. Nordheim is ready to sail through many perilous travels aboard their troll longship!

Hometown: Toronto
Members: Morgan Rider – Vocals/Bass, Casey Elliott – Guitar, Frankie Caracci – Guitar, Dylan Gowan – Drums
Genre: Canadian Epic Melodic Metal!

The cloudy beginnings of Vesperia lay etched in the gorged bodies of former musical projects among the now four-piece band. Twisting, writhing, and forcing their aural onslaught upon metal audiences across the globe have sincerely ensured the band’s continuity through all the harsh and arduous battles modern metal bands are sure to encounter in their tenures.

Originally formed in 2005 by lead vocalist/bassist Morgan Rider as a black metal band, the sound, direction and theme of the music naturally evolved into the style of fierce and heroic metal the band is now known for. Shortly after releasing their long overdue brand melodic metal 2011 full-length VOYAGE FROM VINLAND, Vesperia redefined their purpose and direction once and finally with their 2012 demo THE SWORDSMAN and 2013 full-length AN OLDEN TALE, drawing the ears and attention of metal fans around the world and demonstrating their true mastery of their craft.

With the most fierce music written to date and a bounty of opportunity awaiting, Vesperia hungrily eye 2015 as the year they will make their mark upon the Earth.

-Demona’s 2015 7″ vinyl EP is due out July 20 via Hells Headbangers, with the tracks “Chasing the Speed” and “Allura Red.” About the release: “Hells Headbangers is proud to present a special 7″ EP from speed metal cult Demona, simply titled 2015. Longtime fans of the band — founded and led by metal goddess Tanza Speed, who originally hails from Chile but now resides in Canada — Hells Headbangers secured two exclusive tracks here, ‘Allura Red’ and the telltale ‘Chasing The Speed,’ which both continue the band’s manic speed metal madness. Like the second coming of Sentinel Beast meets Original Sin, Demona whip up a fury across 2015, keeping the attack at high intensity yet never losing their inherent catchiness. Joining vocalist/guitarist Tanza Speed on this EP is Desaster drummer Tormentor, with additional recording assistance by Midnight live guitarist Commandor Vanik and mastered by Toxic Holocaust’s Joel Grind. No time like 2015 to finally recognize Demona’s metal might!”

-The French trio Glowsun’s “instrumental psychedelic rock” album BEYOND THE WALL OF TIME is due out between June 26 and July 7 on Napalm Records. Track list: “Arrow Of Time,” “Last Watchmaker’s Grave,” “Behind The Moon,” “Flower Of Mist,” “Shadow Of Dreams,” “Against The Clock,” “Endless Caravan.” Hype: “From the start the listener is kidnapped by the spherical sound, between enormous atmospheric compositions with pure rock riffs and psychedelic melodies perfectly intertwined into this scenery.” Upcoming tour dates:

6/11 – Glazart, Paris, France
6/12 – Warmaudio, Lyon, France
6/13 – Le Volume, Nice, France
6/14 – Lo Fi, Milano, Italy

-Goatsnake’s first album in 15 years, BLACK AGE BLUES, is out now through Southern Lord Recordings. Track list: “Another River To Cross,” “Elevated Man,” “Coffee & Whiskey,” “Black Age Blues,” “House Of The Moon,” “Jimi’s Gone,” “Graves,” “Grandpa Jones,” “A Killing Blues.” The whole album is streaming at http://goatsnakesl.bandcamp.com/releases , and different formats — including a double vinyl version with two bonus tracks — are available at http://goatsnake.southernlord.com/ , https://goatsnakesl.bandcamp.com/ , and https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/black-age-blues/id988116801 . Hype: “Goatsnake’s BLACK AGE BLUES closes a 15-year gap between full-length albums from the revered act, without a doubt making it one of the most highly anticipated doom/metal releases of 2015. With nearly 50 minutes of their most soulful yet boisterous material to date, the quartet expands their already mammoth tones and pummeling rock riffs with a variety of additional influences and elements, and guest contributions from a variety of players including David Pajo (Slint, Aerial M, Papa M) and soul vocal trio Dem Preacher’s Daughters, comprised of Wendy Moten, Gale Mayes and Andrea Merrit.” The band consists of singer Pete Stahl (Scream), guitarist Greg Anderson (Sunn O)))), bassist Scott Renner, and drummer Greg Rogers (The Obsessed), and will headline Crucialfest on June 20 in Salt Lake City, UT. See http://www.southernlord.com/ for more.

-Hard Action’s SINISTER VIBES is streaming now in full at http://www.metal-hammer.de/video-audio/premieren/article741503.ece . The album is due out June 12 on Svart Records, and has this track list: “Dead Dogs,” “Chosen Few,” “Cut To The Bone,” “Night Moves,” “Deadweight (Cut Me Loose),” “Watch Me Burn,” “Hey You,” “Sinister Vibes,” “Gunpoint,” “No Lesson Learned.” The band consists of Günter Kivioja (Chestburster) on guitar and vocals, Ville Valavuo (Speedtrap, Death Toll 80K) on guitar, A-P Heinola (First Times) on bass, and Markus Hietamies (Speedtrap, Forced Kill) on drums. Album hype: “The music is deeply rooted in 1970s rock and late ’70s punk rock, and the simple-yet-catchy songs are topped with burning-hot lead-guitar parts, so expect nothing less than an album filled with electric guitar-worshipping rock music. This album will definitely be one of the highlights of Finnish rock music in 2015.” See http://www.facebook.com/hardaction and http://www.svartrecords.com/ for more.

-Leatherwolf update… Former guitarists Carey Howe and Geoff Gayer have re-teamed with WORLD ASYLUM-era singer Wade Black and are reportedly working on new material, with the band/project title TBA. Leatherwolf original band members Michael Olivieri (vocals, guitar) and Dean Roberts (drums) — who have been touring and round out their lineup with guitarists Rob Math and Greg Erba, and bassist Pat Guyton — issued a statement at http://leatherwolfmetal.com/ clarifying the Howe/Gayer/Black project cannot legally use the name Leatherwolf. See https://www.facebook.com/leatherwolfmetal for more, and check out an interview with Howe and Black at http://www.streetclip.tv/magazine/details/interviews/article/leatherwolf-vs-leatherwolf/ .

-Neal Morse will have another night of worship at the Scarritt Bennett Center in Nashville, TN, on June 13. The free event runs from 7:30 – 9:00 p.m. and includes “intimate fellowship, worship, and inspiration with Neal Morse and friends.” See http://www.radiantrecords.com/ for more.

-Orpheus Blade, a female-fronted Israeli progressive metal band, has released its debut album WOLF’S CRY on Pitch Black Records. Main woman Adi Bitran was joined in the studio by Gal Ben Haim on guitar, Edi Lemishov on bass, and Shaked Furman on drums, with Henning Basse (Metalium, Epysode) on male vocals; the live lineup includes Gil David on guitar, Max Mann on bass, Omer Furman on keyboards, and Or Benozio on drums. Band hype: “Progressive and heavy metal, film music and musicals, a concept fantasy that is really an allegory to real life endeavors — these are just some of the cornerstones of Orpheus Blade, a project led by talented singer/songwriter Adi Bitran.” Album hype: “WOLF’S CRY is an eclectic collection of shapes and colors. It’s metal that goes hand in hand with film music and orchestrations, offering layers upon layers of cruel guitars and carefully written lyrics. It will hold much of your own essence in it along with your life-long demons. It is not only the epic fantasy it holds inside, but also a journey into your deepest emotions, to the burning core of the beast that lurks inside. It’s always dark there, always restless and maybe you too will find yourself in this scenery; one that Orpheus Blade have bled to create.” Track list: “Shadows Still,” “The Finest Art Of Feeding,” “The Becoming,” “Under Dying Stars,” “In Sickness And In Hell,” “The Death Of All Morrows,” “Dismissal,” “In Terms Of Twilight,” “Because He’s Made Of Flesh,” “For Each Man Kills,” “Chronicles,” “The Man Who Cried Wolf,” “Shapeshifter.” Check out the lyric video for “The Becoming” at https://youtu.be/xSjXvQVJrMQ , and see http://www.orpheusblade.com/ and http://www.pitchblackrecords.com/ for more.

-Psychostick’s new lyric video for “Blue Screen” is online now at https://youtu.be/SJZvSc220No . The song comes from IV: REVENGE OF THE VENGEANCE, out now and with this track list: “Revenge Of The Vengeance,” “Obey The Beard,” “President Rhino,” “H-Flat,” “So. Heavy.,” “Dogs Like Socks,” “Super Legit OFFICIAL Teaser #2 Explode,” “Quack Kills,” “Blue Screen,” “NSFW” (featuring Green Jello’s Bill Manspeaker), “Danger Zone” (Kenny Loggins cover), “New To The Neighborhood,” “Loathe Thy Neighbor,” “AWESOME!,” “Choking Hazard,” “Fight To The Death,” “Bruce Campbell,” “Trick Or Treat,” “Dimensional Time Portal,” “The Power Of Metal Compels You,” “Outtakes IV: The Outtakening.” The “kings of parody metal” are hitting the road with Wolfborne, and singer Kersey had this to say: “Like Bruce Campbell fending off the Deadites, we have to load our van up like a boomstick and unleash jagged, chunky musical shards of METAL upon the country with Wolfborne. We’re even headin’ up to Canada this time! First they’ll wanna kill us, then they’ll wanna kiss us.” Tour dates:

-The current Weekly Featured Product from Radiant Records is Dave Bainbridge’s (Iona) CELESTIAL FIRE. Hype: “In his second solo album, Iona co-founder Dave Bainbridge merges the Celtic, progressive, spiritual, folk-rock influenced soundscapes of Iona with a larger than usual dollop of … ‘progressive rock’ type musical adventuring. Building on the foundations of what has gone past, but sounding fresh and new, this is music that transports you to another place!” More info and purchasing instructions are at http://www.radiantrecords.com/products/550-dave-bainbridge-celestial-fire.aspx .

The band consists of Brittney Slayes on vocals, Grant Truesdell and Andrew Kingsley on guitar, Kyle Sheppard on bass, and Scott Buchanan on drums. Hype: “Canadian shooting stars Unleash The Archers have been on the road since their inception in 2007. Since then they have created an immensely loyal North American fan base. With a fresh sound, precise songwriting and the incredible feeling for heaviness and melodies, this power quintet with singer Brittney Slayes are now ready to take the rest of the world. Their new studio album TIME STANDS STILL is fast-paced and wildly entertaining; the combination of power vocals, death screams, tasty guitar licks, and complex drumming provide a little something for everyone. TIME STANDS STILL is kick ass heavy metal with fist-pumping anthemic melodies you can’t help but sing along to.” Track list: “Northern Passage,” “Frozen Steel,” “Hail Of The Tide,” “Tonight We Ride” (video: https://youtu.be/UOvZKJlrtk8 ), “Test Your Metal,” “Crypt,” “No More Heroes,” “Dreamcrusher,” Going Down Fighting,” “Time Stands Still.” See http://www.unleashthearchers.com/ and http://www.facebook.com/UnleashTheArchers for more.
