-Armored Saint Stream New Album Online!

WIN HANDS DOWN Out Now!

Los Angeles, California’s Armored Saint have released their seventh studio album! The album WIN HANDS DOWN is all things Armored, a vintage crush of classic power propelled by a cathartic blast of life in the year 2015.

Head over now to http://www.metalblade.com/armoredsaint/ to jam this amazing album in its entirety.

The press reactions are quite enthusiastic!

“Looks like the band has found its fire again, as they once more offer some fine hymns such as the title track, ‘Mess,’ ‘An Exercise In Debauchery,’ or ‘With A Full Head Of Steam,’ all of which easily compete with the classics. Bush for his part is still singing like a young god!” Marc Halupczok, Metal Hammer Germany, 6/7

“In a similar way as on their 1991 record SYMBOL OF SALVATION, Saint by no means dodge new influences. However, the band, which is rightfully considered to be one of the most underrated in US Metal, primarily concentrates on their great strengths, meaning incredible self-conscious playing in connection to their signature songwriting, which is devoid of any clichés and so unlike any other group!” Boris Kaiser, Rock Hard Germany, 8,5/10, soundcheck winner!

“Never in the world would I have expected such a strong comeback by this band, which is probably the most underrated of all time in the Metal genre! A gift to the group’s faithful fans!” Götz Kühnemund, Deaf Forever Germany, 9/10

“In its entirety, this is the heaviest and melodically most compelling album in the band’s history!” Peter Engelking, Rocks, 5,5/6

A brand new video for the title track was recently shot by director Andrew Nethery, and is available for streaming now at http://www.metalblade.com/armoredsaint/ , where album pre-order bundles are also ready for order. Including CD, ltd. CD+DVD, ltd. vinyl and special box set featuring customized poker set. Additionally, a behind the scenes video from the photo shoot for the WIN HANDS DOWN album cover is on YouTube now at https://youtu.be/pl0gOQx3cTo .

The previous two trailers:

Also the international media praises the album, some quotes:

“30 years after their first release, Helloween still write heavy, melodic, uplifting, and catchy tunes like few bands do. MY GOD-GIVEN RIGHT is another incredibly rich album. If I were as rich as these songs are, I’d be a millionaire!”

“MY GOD-GIVEN RIGHT is pure, true Helloween metal — the way it should always be!”

-Luca Turilli’s Rhapsody Releases New single & Lyric Video For “Prometheus”

Luca Turilli’s Rhapsody, the masters of cinematic metal, will release their new outstanding album PROMETHEUS, SYMPHONIA IGNIS DIVINUS on June 19 (EU), June 22 (UK) and June 30 (US) via Nuclear Blast.

Today, the band presents the second single of the new opus — “Prometheus” (including Ralf Scheepers of Primal Fear as part of the choir).

Watch the lyric video here:

Mastermind Luca comments:
“With my band I like to dedicate a few songs to well-known myths and legends in every album. But what I really like is to take these subjects and ‘dig’ into them revealing new interpretations often related with deeper spiritual meanings. So I surely start from the tale of Prometheus everybody knows, but soon transposing it in a timeless dimension where the Ignis Divinus, the divine fire given by him to the men, represents nothing else than a quantum gate revealed to a mortal soul on its journey to the immortal cosmic truth.’

-Former Kiss Guitarist Bruce Kulick Releases New Album And Single

KKB, Bruce Kulick’s first band created back in 1974 with his local friends, singer/bassist Mike Katz and drummer Guy Bois, are releasing a brand new single and CD called GOT TO GET BACK. The new single leads off the CD, which continues with six more songs they recorded in 1974. The vintage tracks were revisited for 2015, and the original tapes were totally re-mixed and re-mastered.

Kulick was fortunate growing up in Jackson Heights, NY to find other talented local musicians who shared the same passion for the British Invasion of rock. They lived within blocks of each other, with drummer Guy’s basement being the breeding ground for the musical concoction they were creating. The young band rehearsed for months before entering a studio in N.Y.C. capturing music that was urgent, intense and compelling. Sadly, with no clear direction for the group to follow the band never played together live, and ultimately went their separate ways. Bruce continued on in the music world, playing guitar with Michael Bolton, Meat Loaf, Kiss, and Grand Funk Railroad.

The music KKB recorded in 1974, however, sat idle on a tape in Kulick’s closet for many years. In 2008, Bruce bought a TEAC tape deck at a local garage sale and decided to listen to the KKB recording again. He loved it, and shared it with his friends, who all agreed: “You must release this music for people to hear.” The vintage tape was transferred and, after some cleaning up of the tracks, KKB 1974 was released in 2008. The limited-run CD sold out quickly.

An unexpected new chapter for KKB happened in 2013, when Mike found the original session tapes. By using the actual tracks recorded, Kulick had the opportunity to re-mix, re-master, and get creative with this music once again. But the discovery sparked something substantially more interesting than simply polishing up “old” music — the desire for Bruce and Mike to create a new song for KKB, 40 years after its genesis.

As a result of KKB’s rekindled fire, the trio wrote and recorded a new song, “Got To Get Back,” a total throwback to their vintage sound, style and vibe. Each band member recorded their parts in a local studio — Guy in Paris, Mike in New York City, and Bruce in L.A. Further adding to KKB’s renaissance, a string quartet, scored by Bruce’s longtime collaborator Jeremy Rubolino, was added to the ballad “Someday,” giving the song a shine that couldn’t have been imagined in 1974.

“This music represents a time in my career that I feel helped define the potential of my guitar playing,” Kulick says. “It gives me chills to hear it. The interplay with Mike on bass and Guy on drums was expertly executed, filled with passion that defined our age. To think that so long ago I was involved in something this powerful that sat in my closet unheard for nearly 35 years made me furious. My intense desire to share this music that is relevant now, more than ever, is a huge accomplishment. Play it loud and imagine three young men pouring their hearts out making music, never concerned about anything but the music. That was the intention. It was pure, it was real. And now it’s available for all to enjoy.”

KKB’s music is in the power rock/progressive/melodic rock genre, and GOT TO GET BACK captures styles of a variety of British bands including Led Zeppelin, Cream, and King Crimson, with arrangements performed in a hard rock trio context. Give it a listen, and see if you agree that this time capsule of music from Kulick’s beginnings is totally unique and captivating to your ears.

Now he’s very pleased to announce their signing with Nuclear Blast Records. Mastermind Victor Smolski comments on the signing: “After 10 years of cooperation with Nuclear Blast, a friendship evolved. -Genesis Member Tony Banks To Release Solo Career Box Set

Tony Banks – A CHORD TOO FAR

A Special Edition Four-Disc Box Set Of Tony Banks’ Acclaimed Solo Career

Including Re-mixed And Unreleased Pieces

Release Date July 31st, 2015 – Esoteric Recordings

Founding member of Genesis, Tony Banks, is to release A CHORD TOO FAR as a four-disc box set, that brings together selected songs from his celebrated solo career. Released on Esoteric Recordings, a Cherry Red Records label, on July 31.

With a track list personally selected by Tony, this special edition set consists of 49 songs and pieces, many of which have been re-mixed exclusively for this collection, and are from his seven solo and two orchestral albums — A CURIOUS FEELING (1979), THE FUGITIVE (1983), THE WICKED LADY (1983) (film score), SOUNDTRACKS (1986) (a combination of original scores Tony wrote for films “Starship” and “Quicksilver”), BANKSTATEMENT (1989), STILL (1991), STRICTLY INC. (1995), and his orchestral albums SEVEN: A SUITE FOR ORCHESTRA (2004) and SIX PIECES FOR ORCHESTRA (2012) — culminating in this unique collection of his eclectic and diverse music. Also included are four unreleased pieces, three of which are keyboard demos of from his orchestral suites. The other is a piece originally written for the STILL album.

Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2010 as a member of Genesis, Tony is one of the most respected songwriters and keyboardists in the world. His career spans almost 50 years and has seen him sell in excess of 130 million albums. His body of work is as innovative as it is eclectic. Genesis’ avant-garde style made them one of progressive rock’s founding fathers in the 1970s, creating an experimental style of rock music never before seen. They went on to produce music with a greater pop sensibility in the 1980s that saw them become one of the biggest selling bands of the decade, and play stadiums throughout the world.

His solo work has continued in the same vein. As well as his rock albums which has included collaborations with some of the world’s most respected musicians including singers Toyah Wilcox, Fish, and Nick Kershaw, bassist Pino Pallodino, and drummers Steve Gadd and Vinnie Colaiuta, as well as long time Genesis collaborators Daryl Stuermer and Chester Thompson. He has done original scores for four films — “The Shout” (1978), “The Wicked Lady” (1983), “Starship” (1985) and “Quicksilver” (1986) — and most recently his orchestral albums, SEVEN: A SUITE FOR ORCHESTRA and SIX PIECES FOR ORCHESTRA, that were performed by the London Philharmonic Orchestra and City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra, respectively. Both were met with critical acclaim with classical music aficionados, Gramaphone Magazine, saying “A rock musician goes ‘classical’ — with pleasing and often effective results… for Banks has a genuine melodic gift… The recording is good, … acceptably spacious …”

A CHORD TOO FAR is a celebration of Tony’s work outside of Genesis, and the beginning of re-releases of re-mixed versions of his entire solo and orchestral catalog… A CURIOUS FEELING and THE FUGITIVE are set to be released at the end of October, with THE WICKED LADY and SOUNDTRACKS at the end of January 2016. Further detail will be announced soon on his other albums.

A CHORD TOO FAR, is released on July 31st, 2015 on Esoteric Recordings, a Cherry Red Records label.

-Kingcrow: Italian Prog Metal Sextet Releases New Track Through BraveWords As Sixth Album EIDOS Nears Street Date

With the street date for Italian progressive metal sextet Kingcrow’s sixth album, EIDOSs, rapidly approaching, a new single from the record has been released through an exclusive premiere of “At The Same Pace” at BraveWords.com.

Boasting over an hour of material which closes the path-of-life saga of their prior two albums — PHLEGETHON dealing with childhood, and IN CRESCENDO about the end of youth — EIDOS carries a more foreboding, ominous edge than Kingcrow’s other releases. “At The Same Pace” is the eighth of the 10 brand new movements on the album, and after leading off with a somber, clean intro, the track lifts off into a nearly eight-minute endeavor, which is as heavily motivated by synth-soaked atmospheres as it is a mid-paced, thundering, drive.

Listen to Kingcrow’s “At The Same Pace” via BraveWords now:
http://bravewords.com/news/kingcrow-bravewords-streaming-new-at-the-same-pace-track

Recently, Kingcrow also released their first official video for EIDOS, constructed the track, “The Moth,” through the animated style of Argentinean artist Gastón Viñas ( http://www.grapevineindustries.com/ ), widely known for his videos for Radiohead, including “2+2=5” and “A Wolf At The Door,” which combined have collected nearly 15 million views on YouTube.

“The Moth” is now playing right here:

Rome-based Kingcrow returns with EIDOS, a conceptual album about choices, consequences, and dealing with regret and disillusion. Musically it sees the band exploring new territories and pushing the extremes of its complex soundscape attributes with a darker atmosphere. EIDOS was recorded at Sound Under Pressure in Rome, with the production handled by the band’s Diego and Thundra Cafolla. Several guest appearances help create the album’s new atmospheres, including saxophone provided by Stefania Bentivoglio on the track “Slow Down,” and piano by Fred Colombo of Spheric Universe Experience for the track “The Deeper Divide.” Mixed by Giampiero Ulacco and mastered by Alan Douches at West West Side Music in New York, the stunning production of the album is matched by visionary artwork by Cristian Nastasi/Devilnax. The next logical progression in the evolution of Kingcrow, EIDOS will open the next doorway for whatever lies ahead. Sensory Records, who also released Kingcrow’s IN CRESCENDO album, will unveil EIDOS on CD and digitally worldwide on June 23.

-Iris Divine Announces Northeastern US Summer Mini-Tour In Support Of Acclaimed KARMA SOWN Debut Album

Following the late Springtime release of their debut full-length album, KARMA SOWN, Washington DC-area modern progressive trio Iris Divine has confirmed a mid-Summer four-city tour through the Northeastern US. Touring alongside their friends in MindMaze, the outfit will begin the trek in Worcester, Massachusetts on July 30, followed by show in New York City and Baltimore over the next two nights, before the tour closes down in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on August 2.

Iris Divine Summer Tour w/ MindMaze:
7/30/2015 Ralph’s Diner – Worcester, MA
7/31/2015 Gussy’s – New York, NY
8/01/2015 Club Orpheus – Baltimore, MD
8/02/2015 Howler’s – Pittsburgh, PA

On March 31, Iris Divine’s proud debut KARMA SOWN saw release via New Jersey-based Sensory Records, the album met by widespread critical acclaim from all levels of the diehard metal media. Though a mere trio, vocalist/guitarist Navid Rashid, drummer/programmer Kris Combs and bassist Brian Dobbs unload waves of dynamic, top-tier progressive metal with dark, crunching undertones and intense storylines. The record was produced by the band, engineered by Drew Mazurek and Farhad Hossain, mixed by Drew Mazurek, and mastered by Brian J. Anthony, and its cover art conceived by Kris Combs and executed by Visual Decay.

KARMA SOWN is playing alongside an interview with the band via BraveWords right here:
http://bravewords.com/features/iris-divine-streaming-new-album-at-bravewords-bold-sums-it-up-rather-nicely-for-us

Physical orders for KARMA SOWN can be placed via Laser’s Edge at https://www.lasercd.com/cd/karma-sown and digital at https://lasersedge.bandcamp.com/album/karma-sown .

Nova Metal Review praised Iris Divine’s debut in an early review with a perfect review: “Most often I would pick a couple of tracks as favorites, but in this case that is a pointless exercise. All the tracks are standout and I can play them in any order and still walk away with a smile on my face… it is a no-brainer to score this a straight 10/10.” Hardrock Haven championed the record with an early 9/10 review, including, “when you hear them you’re simply stunned that they’re not signed to a major label and making a huge impact on the scene. They’re immensely talented, not content to stay within the genre lines, and have released an album that can go head to head with any of the ‘name’ prog metal albums this year.” MetalSucks excitedly previewed the album issuing, “If bands like King’s X, Porcupine Tree, and to a slightly lesser extent Dream Theater get you all hot n’ bothered you’re absolutely gonna LOVE Iris Divine, as I do… The most impressive thing to me is that their ear for songwriting is uncanny: their songs are just so f*cking immediate, but without being corny or heavy-handed about it, and though the members are all clearly phenomenal musicians they don’t beat you over the head with that fact.” In an 8.5/10 review, Dead Rhetoric wrote, “Not very often in the progressive/alternative metal world do you find a set of musicians subscribe to a less is more membership philosophy. We all know about the power trio groups like King’s X and Rush through the years, but normally the heavier acts require four- to six-piece lineups to create their sonic elements the meld together. Northern Virginia based Iris Divine are one of the rare breed three-piece acts that on their new album KARMA SOWN fill the aural space as if there were twin doubles amidst the eight songs.” We Love Metal’s glowing 9/10 review of the album offered in part, “There isn’t a single song, or even a moment, that isn’t interesting. The more I listen to KARMA SOWN, the more I find, from incredible riffs, tremendous instrumental interplay, superbly executed vocal harmonies, and some of the best prog songwriting I’ve heard in a while… The band’s use of syncopation is a thread that runs throughout KARMA SOWN, whether in the riffs or the drumming. It isn’t necessarily something never heard before, but Iris Divine’s use is well done and is guaranteed to keep your attention. Their mastery of the odd time signature is killer.”

-Battlecross Announces RISE TO POWER And Launches Brand New Song!

Motor City thrashers Batthecross have just returned home from a successful trip to Bogota, CO, and nearly immediately upon returning, have launched a brand new song from their forthcoming album, RISE TO POWER! The new song, “Not Your Slave,” is streaming at http://www.metalblade.com/battlecross/ , where pre-order is also possible. RISE TO POWER will be released worldwide on Metal Blade Records on August 21, 2015.

RISE TO POWER was produced by Mark Lewis and engineered by Jason Suecof at Audiohammer Studios. Cover art was completed by Hungarian artist Péter Sallai (Sabaton, Sacred Steel; http://www.mortpaintgraphics.com/ ).

Guitarist Tony Asta offers the following comment on the new single, “Not Your Slave:” “We’re really happy with the crushing feel of this song. Somehow through the writing process, maybe even on accident, a more groovy feel was created. We won’t write the same record twice and I think this is our strongest and more dynamic album yet.”

The upcoming US tour also puts an end to the band’s search for a permanent drummer, with Bay Area’s Alex Bent now firmly in place behind the kit. After performing with the band on two 2014 headliners and in South America, Alex officially joined and tracked drums for the new album. He can be seen here performing “Ghost Alive” last winter on the Winter Warriors Tour:

Battlecross’ previous album, WAR OF WILL, debuted at #134 on the Billboard Top 200 chart upon its release in July of 2013. This was the band’s first ever Billboard chart debut! WAR OF WILL also peaked at #3 on the US iTunes metal chart on the day of release. Watch the music video for “Never Coming Back” now at http://www.metalblade.com/battlecross/ .

-3 Years Hollow Announce Tour With Powerman 5000 & Soil

The late spring and early summer will see Imagen Recording artists 3 Years Hollow hard at work once again — hitting the road as part of a must-see bill which will also feature Powerman 5000 and Soil. But first up will be a new single and video issued on May 19, “Chemical Ride” — a strong fan favorite that has already been eagerly spun on a number of stations. “Chemical Ride” is the follow-up to the band’s two Top 30 hits, “Hungry” and “For Life.” Make no mistake about it, 3 Years Hollow is determined to bring back ROCK to the current music scene, and are in it for the long haul.

“The song ‘Chemical Ride’ sort of has this underdog story going for it,” recalls 3YH singer Jose Urquiza. “It’s the song that we all wanted to be the first single from the record, but looking back, it feels like the first two singles might have been the foundation needed to get this song out to an even larger audience. There’s never really been a question about which song is the favorite song off of THE CRACKS, and this is it. The song is basically about seizing every single opportunity you have, appreciating the things you have around you, because anything and everything can be taken from you instantly. It was a situation that I had witnessed and was close to and it was something I felt I had to write about.”

“That realization really hit me when my good friend and mentor, Rob Cimmarusti, passed away this last year. He was the owner of Real Trax Recording Studios, where we recorded all three of our albums over the past seven years and where I learned everything I know about music production and recording. I had been so focused on the future, so focused on things that weren’t even right in front of me, and in the end it cost me a lot of time I could have spent with him. There’s no doubt his influence will live on in 3YH for the rest of our lives.”

Kicking off on Tuesday, June 23 in Ringle, WI and wrapping up on Saturday, July 18 in Arlington Heights, IL, the three-band tour is sure to be one of the summer’s most rocking. The set of dates (17 shows total) will feature a new 3YH lineup with original members Urquiza, Tony Reeves, and Neil Kuhlman being joined by new drummer Ryan Bennett, formerly of Eye Empire.

As Jose explains, “Heading towards the rest of 2015 we definitely feel this renewed energy within us and around us, including the entire team of people that we work with. For two years, we just went out there on the road and did our best to spread our music and hang out with our fans and friends that come out to the shows. It was one thing we could control in a music business where most things seem a little out of control. We’re about to go back out and hit some of the same clubs we just played a couple months ago and we can’t wait!!”

Ever the road warriors, 3 Years Hollow has been steadily touring and building a massive fan base, as evidenced by past jaunts with the likes of Saving Abel, Red, Islander, the UPROAR Festival, etc. Soon, fans will be able to see what all the buzz is about concerning 3 Years Hollow — on a concert stage near you.

-No Total Metal Festival In 2015!

The famous Italian Heavy Metal festival will remain on “stand-by.” Here are the reasons:

The 2014 Edition of the Total Metal Open Air Festival was, according to just about anyone who participated, nothing short of amazing: Impeccable organization in every aspect and a rich artistic Billboard (remember, among others, Kreator, Annihilator, Behemoth, and Moonspell). However today is official news that there will be no 2015 Edition; Luigi Pisanello, Director of the organizing agency Vivo Management, explains why:

“It was since many months that we were almost sure about this decision. We delayed trying to find a less bitter way to announce it to our supporters but we realized that it wasn’t possible to sweeten a bad news like this. After the last edition was easy for anyone to expect another magnificent festival; All those who joined the TMF2014 have experienced (without exaggeration) two of the most beautiful days of their own metalhead life! We had excellent and worldwide renowned bands, a stage and a sound-lights system that rivals any other big Italian festival, a highly-experienced staff that has served our users impeccably, games, free camping, a number of toilets even higher than necessary and all, but really everything, what fits with a class ‘A’ music festival! But being so meticulous cost us a really huge amount of money and, unfortunately, the response of the audience (though still plentiful and very warm) was less than our estimates. Then I personally found that other Italian festivals of the same kind, arranged with much less attention to details and, in some cases, even with a more skimpy artistic Bill, obtained, with similar ticket costs, the same numbers in terms of public response, but with much less onerous investments from the organizers. So I and my partners said to ourselves that probably we’re living a time that isn’t appropriate for those who want to offer quality! Of course we blame no one for this situation, unless the period of severe economic difficulties affecting our Country in recent years and that, consequently, impoverishes the pockets of young fans and their families. I know I run the risk of digressing, but actually I think that when there are little money it is correct to spend them first for food and essential stuff rather than for a ‘luxury’ like a nice concert. Someone also suggested to downsize our festival in order to reduce costs, ‘after all the people coming is always the same,’ they say; but this wouldn’t fit with the style of the Total Metal Festival. We always wanted to give to the Italian metalheads a growing up festival, so it would have no sense for us to take steps backward just to save money. Instead we prefer to stop it until the economical situation will allow the lovers of this music to participate to a high level event like those we like to organize. The Italian metal scene doesn’t need another festival ‘arranged’ where to buy a beer you have to do half an hour in a row or for one or more days you are forced to urinate in three or four smelly portable toilets; the TMF must distinguish itself from the mediocrity that characterize most of the similar organizations in Italy. That is our dream and with the last edition we feel we realized it, although for now, inevitably, it must be stopped. To anyone who asks us if TMF will come back in 2016 we cannot yet answer. We all look forward to it, but the only thing we can guarantee for now is that the will to make the most beautiful metal festival in Italy is still there in our hearts!”

-Torture Slave: METAL FAIRYTALE Due Soon On Karthago Records

The release date of the Torture Slave album METAL FAIRYTALE on CD is June 19, 2015. The pre-order phase will start on June 9, 2015 in the Pure Steel webshop.

Torture Slave was formed 1984 in Berlin/Germany and recorded four demos until 1986. Unfortunately they never released an LP. The reason for this seems to be that Berlin was not — and still is not — a hotspot for Heavy Metal in Germany or Europe. The Prussian capital featured everything, from punk, hardcore, rap, electro, acid, soul, jazz, grunge to hip hop; but Heavy Metal was always living in the shadows in the ’80s and ’90s. A lot of stuff was released that was of questionable quality, but the latest trend is nowhere as important as in Berlin.

Especially in Heavy Metal the trends are never that important as in other music genres. Good songs can convince the fans better than being a trendsetter. Today, in the year 2015, Torture Slave can convince us with their music; this might have helped the band to survive the trends. For all fans of true German ’80s Metal with good melody lines and competent musicians the legacy of Torture Slave is an insider tip and Karthago Records the ideal label for this rerelease.

Track List:
1. Torture Slave
2. Seed Of Insanity
3. Scream For Love
4. She’s The Ghost
5. Shout
6. We’re Gonna Rock You
7. Bad Girls
8. Thoughts
9. Master Of Hell
10. Metal Fairytale
Total Playing Time: 46:09 min

Michael Dobertin – bass
Martin – drums
Andreas – vocals, guitars
Oliver – vocals, guitars
Eberhard Günther “Ebo” – vocals

-Against The Grain Ready ROAD WARRIORS For July 31 On Self-Destructo

The Motor City Madmen Blur The Lines Of Punk, Rock, Doom, And Thrash, For Their Fourth Full-Length On Self-Destructo Records

Living up to the title of their newest record, Against The Grain have proven themselves to be true warriors of the road. Blazing through the US with their brand of gear-shifting balls-to-the-wall music that incorporates all things heavy, ATG defies categorization as they seamlessly blur the lines of punk, rock, doom, and thrash.

ATG’s heavily anticipated fourth full-length entitled ROAD WARRIORS is set to release on July 31 on Self-Destructo, and is primed to stake the claim for this Motor City combo’s place in the world of all things rock and roll.

With the release of their first self-titled full-length in 2009, ATG was an immediate hit garnering an intensive local fan base playing 50 shows throughout Michigan. With their intense live show and energized fan base they were introduced to touring life by Hellmouth and The Meatmen, and began their transformation into a fully-functioning road act. The boys in ATG have yet to look back.

After 75 dates in 2011, ATG followed up with 2012’s MOTOR CITY SPEED ROCK and 150 dates in support. Their efforts caught the attention of Self-Destructo Records, who in 2013 released their third full-length, SURROUNDED BY SNAKES to such acclaim that they re-leased MOTOR CITY SPEED ROCK on 10″ as well.

Maintaining a DIY tour ethic, ATG built a national fan base with their bare hands — quenching the thirst for fast and heavy rock and roll throughout the land. With 650 dates and counting since hitting the road in 2011, ATG has also toured alongside an impressive assemblage of notable acts including Nashville Pussy, Valient Thorr, Church Of Misery, Guttermouth, The Meatmen, The Koffin Kats, Voodoo Glow Skulls, Zoroaster, Hellmouth, The Hookers, Beast In The Field, and Lo-Pan, and shared the stage with Zeke, St. Vitus, Orange Goblin, Electric Frankenstein, Agent Orange, and many more.

-Dreadnought: Terrorizer Streams “Transpiration” From Denver Progressive Metal Quartet

Denver’s progressive metal quartet Dreadnought has signed to Sailor Records, and their sophomore album, BRIDGING REALMS, is due out on LP/CD/DD/cassette on August 11. Today, Terrorizer reveals the first single, “Transpiration,” an epic, 10-minute sonic adventure through space, time, and multiple instruments. Fans of everything from Agalloch to Jethro Tull will delight in its intricate complexity.

Hear “Transpiration” on Terrorizer right here:
http://www.terrorizer.com/news/streams/dreadnought-premiere-new-song-transpiration-with-terrorizer

BRIDGING REALMS Track Listing:
1. Ode To Ether
2. Odyssey
3. Minuet De Lune
4. Transpiration
5. Bridging Realms

Dreadnought of Denver, Colorado finds a home in surreal atmospheres, complex, yet approachable grooves, and an immense palette of textures and moods. Collaboration and the highest quality of friendship have fashioned this quartet’s knack for contemplative songcraft while also inspiring each member to bring their multi-instrumental talents to the foray, introducing mandolin, saxophone, and flute into their repertoire. Dual female vocals embellish the group’s signature sound as a finishing touch. It’s no wonder that this foundation allows for references to classic prog rock and funk, post rock, black metal, and Latin jazz without sacrificing a sonic imprint filled with spaciousness and ether.

Appropriately Dreadnought’s lyrics capture this atmosphere with themes of the infinite and unknowable, reaching for the stars and into the depths of existence. BRIDGING REALMS finds the band’s potential truly realized, taking its sounds into strange, undiscovered, and delightful territory.

Dreadnought is:
Kelly Schilling – Guitar, Flute, Clean and Harsh Vocals
Jordan Clancy – Drums, Alto/Tenor Saxophone
Kevin Handlon – Bass, Mandolin, Lyrics
Lauren Vieira – Keys, Clean Vocals

Agalloch continues to tour in support of their critically-adored THE SERPENT & THE SPHERE opus, released last year via Profound Lore. Captured by legendary producer/engineer Billy Anderson (Neurosis, Zoroaster, Asunder, Ommadon, Taurus, Brothers Of The Sonic Cloth, etc.) at Cloud City Studios in Portland, Oregon (and mixed by Anderson at Everything Hz), the offering includes a guest appearance by guitarist Nathanaël Larochette of Canadian neofolk trio, Musk Ox, and finds the band delivering some of their most forward-thinking and stimulating compositions to date, elevating their progressive musical oeuvre to a challenging new level whilst still maintaining true to their signature sound.

“…their most refined and generous album to date, an elegant trip to unexpected ends.” – Pitchfork

“Whereas their triumphant previous album was painted in dark blues and glittering black, this one comes draped in muted grays and browns, calming earth tones that soothe rather than awe. If MARROW OF THE SPIRIT was a storm, THE SERPENT & THE SPHERE is the stillness that descends over damp stones and battered branches once the howling winds have quieted.” – Spin

“As much as it is possible to describe the hissing whispers and supernova roars John Haughm’s vocal performance, or the galactic wonder of Don Anderson’s guitars, the sticky and celestial spirals of Jason Walton’s bass lines, or the powerful alchemical engine of Aesop Dekker’s drumming, together they form something greater: a massive, sublime universe unto itself.” – Exclaim

“Agalloch has always had a strong folk theme flowing through their music, a reflection of their heritage in the woods of the American Northwest. But on many of the songs here, the listener’s eyes and ears are drawn away from the rivers and the trees and up towards the night sky… a fantastic addition to the band’s legacy and a brilliant set of work on its own.” – Metal Injection

“To be a fan of the band demands patience; they make you wait, and they make you work. But when the payoff arrives, it is thrilling, glorious, momentous. Everything comes into focus. Everything makes sense.” – Stereogum

“…a Homeric journey of a record peppered with some of the band’s finest moments to date… at once progressive and reflexive.” – MetalSucks

Subtitled RARE TRACKS FROM A VINTAGE 70S BAND, this is an expanded, re-mixed version of Kelakos’ 1978 album GONE ARE THE DAYS. “Who the heck is Kelakos?” you may ask. Fans of ’80s rock and metal will appreciate the history lesson, learning that drummer Carl Canedy (The Rods) was in this band, keyboardist David Kent eventually played with Hall & Oates, and engineers Alex Perialas, Tony Volante, and Les Tyler all had other notable accomplishments and projects. The rest of Kelakos’ lineup was George Michael Kelakos Haberstroh on guitar and vocals, Mark Sisson on guitar, and Linc Bloomfield on bass, and the band played in the New Jersey and New York areas, releasing the one album and a single, “There’s A Feeling” / “Funky Day” (1976). The press materials and other various online reviews cite a million comparisons like the Doobie Brothers, Grand Funk Railroad, Foghat, etc., and really all of that is on target. Despite the re-mix job, yes, this stuff does sound dated, and there’s just no way around that, but musical archeologists and devoted classic rock fans certainly may dig this. I suppose hearing this album and flipping through the 12-page booklet would be like a Kiss fan digging up the precursor Wicked Lester (Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons) or Chelsea (Peter Criss) albums, and taking a trip in the Wayback Machine. Several tunes easily probably could’ve been on the radio in 1978, most notably the smooth, mid-tempo “Gone Are The Days,” the AM-radio love song “How Did You Get So Crazy” (shades of “Sister Golden Hair” or America?), the previously-unreleased “In The Sun” (another unashamed love song), and the single “There’s A Feeling” (heavy Doobies influence). A few of the rockier numbers show some instrumental flash — “Boogie Bad Express” and “Funky Day” have great bass lines, “Frostbite Fantasy” is moodier and darker, the proggy instrumental “Persephone’s Poison” sports shredding, funky, and percussive breakdown parts, and “All You Need Is A Ticket” is super-catchy and probably was the centerpiece of the live show, with its fast outro jam — and vintage Ace Frehley-isms pop up every now and again.
