-Celebrating The Life And Legacy Of Ronnie James Dio

THIS IS YOUR LIFE Pays Tribute To The Late Singer With Covers Of His Greatest Songs From Rainbow, Black Sabbath, And Dio

Features Newly Recorded Tracks From Anthrax, Halestorm, Rob Halford, Metallica, Motörhead, Scorpions, Corey Taylor, And Tenacious D, Among Others!

To Benefit The Ronnie James Dio Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund

Available On April 1 From Rhino

LOS ANGELES — Ronnie James Dio is one of the most beloved figures in rock history. His gifts, both as a singer and songwriter, are instantly recognizable, whether he was with Rainbow, Black Sabbath, Heaven & Hell, or leading Dio. Sadly, Dio lost his battle with stomach cancer in 2010 but his towering voice and legacy live on.

To celebrate one of rock’s most powerful voices, an all-star group of his friends and fans recorded 13 of their favorite tracks for a tribute album that will raise funds for the Ronnie James Dio Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund ( http://www.diocancerfund.org/ ). Produced by his longtime manager and wife Wendy Dio, the album includes contributions by such metal heavyweights as Metallica, Motörhead, Scorpions, Anthrax, and Rob Halford, as well as appearances by many of the musicians who performed with Dio over the years.

THIS IS YOUR LIFE will be available from Rhino on April 1 for a suggested list price of $18.98. A digital version will also be available.

Although the songs featured on the album touch on the different eras of Dio’s career, several spotlight his time with Rainbow, including Metallica’s epic, nine-minute “Ronnie Rising Medley,” which combines the Rainbow songs “A Light In The Black,” “Tarot Woman,” “Stargazer,” and “Kill The King.” Scorpions add a scorching take on “The Temple Of The King” while Motörhead is joined by Biff Byford from Saxon on “Starstruck.” Rob Halford teams with frequent Dio collaborators Vinny Appice, Doug Aldrich, Jeff Pilson, and Scott Warren for “The Man On The Silver Mountain.” The final lineup of Dio’s solo band — Simon Wright, Craig Goldy, Rudy Sarzo, and Scott Warren — are joined by Glenn Hughes (Deep Purple, Black Sabbath) for “Catch The Rainbow,” a track from Rainbow’s 1975 debut.

Anthrax and Adrenaline Mob honor Dio’s memorable stint with Black Sabbath with their takes on “Neon Knights” and “The Mob Rules,” respectively, as does a group, led by Oni Logan on vocals along with Jimmy Bain, Rowan Robertson, and Brian Tichy, which performs “I” from DEHUMANIZER.

THIS IS YOUR LIFE also includes songs from Dio’s back-to-back platinum albums HOLY DIVER (1983) and THE LAST IN LINE (1984), with Doro’s take on “Egypt (The Chains Are On)”, Halestorm tackling “Straight Through The Heart,” Corey Taylor (Stone Sour, Slipknot) covering the classic “Rainbow In The Dark,” and Tenacious D (Jack Black and Kyle Glass) putting their signature spin on “The Last In Line.” Killswitch Engage’s cover of “Holy Diver,” a hit in its own right when released in 2006, is also included here.

Fittingly, Ronnie James Dio provides the finale (and the album’s title) with his moving performance of “This Is Your Life.” Originally released on ANGRY MACHINES (1996), the song’s lyrics explore mortality and are backed by a stark and beautiful arrangement that features Dio accompanied only by his longtime keyboardist Scott Warren on piano. The song serves as a poignant reminder that we will never hear a voice like Dio’s again.

The Ronnie James Dio Stand Up And Shout Cancer Fund, co-founded by Wendy Dio, is a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable fund dedicated to supporting cancer-prevention research, raising awareness and educating the public about the vital importance of early detection and prevention when dealing with this deadly disease.

-Winger To Release Highly-Anticipated Sixth Studio Album BETTER DAYS COMIN’ In April

Band’s First New Album In Five Years Slated For Release Via Frontiers Records

One of the most misunderstood Hard Rock bands to come out of the ’80s is returning with their first new album in five years. Winger is releasing BETTER DAYS COMIN’ on April 18th in Europe and April 22nd in North America via Frontiers Records. The notorious band comprised of members Kip Winger on vocals/bass, Reb Beach on guitar, John Roth on guitar, and Rod Morgenstein on drums are back with their latest album. The album is available for pre-order on Amazon.com in a standard ( http://smarturl.it/WNGR_AmzCD ) and deluxe configuration ( http://smarturl.it/WNGR_AmzDLX ). The deluxe edition comes in a glossy digi-pak and includes the bonus track “Another Beautiful Day” and a DVD including a “Making of the Album” documentary as well as videos for the first single “Rat Race” and title track “Better Days Comin’.” An iTunes pre-order will be available soon. The band has always been known for their incredible musicianship and the trend continues on BETTER DAYS COMIN’.

“On BETTER DAYS COMIN’ we drew from our past to elaborate on our future. The band is stronger than ever and very excited about the music on this record,” explains front man Kip Winger. “We feel this album exemplifies the true sound of the band in every way.”

From the opening riff of album opener “Midnight Driver Of A Love Machine” to the final outro lick of “Out Of This World,” it is clear Winger is back and better than ever. Hard rocking songs like “Queen Babylon,” progressive rock movements like “Tin Soldier,” and touching ballads like “Ever Wonder” show the band’s diversity while always centering on great songs. The debut single from BETTER DAYS COMIN’ is the adrenaline fueled rocker “Rat Race” that showcases some of the band’s best work of their 25-year career.

The track listing for BETTER DAYS COMIN’ is:
1) Midnight Driver Of A Love Machine
2) Queen Babylon
3) Rat Race
4) Better Days Comin’
5) Tin Soldier
6) Ever Wonder
7) So Long China
8) Storm In Me
9) Be Who You Are, Now
10) Another Beautiful Day (Deluxe Edition Bonus Track)
11) Out Of This World

Winger formed in the late 1980s and soared to immediate success with their 1988 self-titled release. The album spawned the hit singles “Seventeen” and “Headed For A Heartbreak” and achieved platinum sales status. WINGER also stayed on the Billboard Top 200 chart for over 60 weeks where it peaked at #21. Their next album, IN THE HEART OF THE YOUNG, also achieved platinum status behind the singles “Can’t Get Enuff” and “Miles Away.” The change in musical climate of the mid-’90s, compounded with unprovoked ridicule on MTV’s popular “Beavis and Butt-Head,” led the band to go on hiatus in 1994. In 2001, the band reunited and have not looked back since. Winger has made a name for themselves with relentless touring, while winning back fans and critics alike because of their exceptional musicianship, Kip Winger’s powerful vocals and the band’s incredible songwriting.

Kip Winger – bass guitar, vocals
Reb Beach – guitars
Rod Morgenstein – drums
John Roth – guitars

Beginning Thursday, May 1, Geoff Tate — best known as the lead vocalist of the multi-platinum band Queensryche — will be coming to The Triple Door in Seattle, Washington to perform what he describes as “the history of Rock done Vaudeville style.”

“Rock And Vaudeville Featuring Geoff Tate” will span five performances over three consecutive nights at the venue, covering music from all previous decades in succession beginning with the 1950s.

The show is expected to begin with music from the likes of Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Bill Haley & His Comets and end with recently released hits from the 21st century.

Inspired by those artists that came before him, Geoff Tate comments, “Anyone alive today has been witness to the evolution of rock music. It’s the language of our rebellious side. The soundtrack of freedom. This show is a visual and musical journey through that fun and yet spiritual side of ourselves. Prepare to rock.”

Similar to the wild and successful Queensryche Cabaret tour in 2010, the three night stand at The Triple Door will also feature aerialists, burlesque dancers, Go-Go dancers, and various circus performers.

Tickets prices for the Friday and Saturday shows are $25 in advance, $30 at the door, and $35 for VIP seating in the front two rows. The Thursday show is $5 less for all three options.

Geoff and his Queensryche band mates just wrapped up a short, successful trek that encompassed nine dates in the southern region of the US and look forward to hitting the road once again in March.

The recent January dates celebrated the 25th Anniversary of the epic concept album, OPERATION: MINDCRIME, that was performed from beginning to end in its entirety.

-California Breed — A New Powerhouse Trio Featuring Legendary Vocalist/Bassist Glenn Hughes, Drummer Extraordinaire Jason Bonham, And 23-Year-Old Newcomer Guitarist/Singer/Songwriter Andrew Watt — Are Set To Release Their First Self-Titled Debut Album In May Available On CD And CD/DVD Deluxe Edition On Frontiers Records

Tweet it: “.@CaliBreedBand — featuring Glenn Hughes, Jason Bonham, and Andrew Watt — will release their self-titled debut album coming 5/20”

Think of California and you think of brilliant color and bright sunlight. Think of a breed and it’s all about bloodlines and brotherhood. Put the two together as California Breed, and you have the most exciting new band of 2014, built around the foundation of legendary vocalist/bassist Glenn Hughes, drummer extraordinaire Jason Bonham, and 23-year-old newcomer guitarist/singer/songwriter Andrew Watt. Mixing massive riffs, gutsy vocals, and gale force rhythms, this powerful three-piece band will release their self-titled debut album May 16th in Europe and May 20th in North America on Frontiers Records. It was produced by Dave Cobb (Jamey Johnson, Rival Sons, Shooter Jennings, and more). Look out for future announcements on the band at http://www.californiabreed.com/ .

CALIFORNIA BREED was recorded at Cobb’s Nashville studio and features equal co-writing credits among the three-man lineup. “It’s proper rock,” Hughes told ClassicRockMagazine.com (2/6), “but at the same time it’s very now. Andrew is as influenced by Mick Ronson as he is Jimmy Page.” “This kid is amazing,” says Bonham. “The first time we met I thought he looked like the white Jimi Hendrix. And he plays in the studio like he’s onstage!”

Glenn Hughes, “The Voice Of Rock,” is a true original, a legendary icon whose credits include Deep Purple and guesting with everyone from Black Sabbath to Earth, Wind & Fire — up to his most recent collaboration in rock super-group Black Country Communion. No other rock musician has carved such a distinctive style blending the finest elements of hard rock, soul, and funk. That astonishing voice is Hughes’ calling card. The legacy of Led Zeppelin lives on in Jason Bonham, British drummer and son of Zep’s legendary John Bonham. He has inherited the best of his father’s skills while mastering his own distinctive and dynamic technique. Jason has followed his own distinctive path over the years, fronting his own successful outfits like Bonham, and playing with Led Zeppelin, Foreigner, Heart, and, most recently, movie composer Hans Zimmer. Andrew Watt is a soulful singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist whose high-energy aggressive style and creative spirit are synonymous with New York City. Hughes says: “I live in the moment, it’s all about NOW, California Breed is exactly where I live, breathe’ and where my freak flag flies.”

Here’s the track listing for California Breed’s self-titled debut album:

1. The Way
2. Sweet Tea
3. Chemical Rain
4. Midnight Oil
5. All Falls Down
6. The Grey
7. Days They Come
8. Spit You Out
9. Strong
10. Invisible
11. Scars
12. Breathe
13. Solo*

*Deluxe Edition includes “Solo” bonus track and a DVD including two video clips (“The Way” and “Sweet Tea”), plus documentary

About California Breed:
Glenn Hughes has spent the subsequent years working with the biggest legends in music, as a solo star, and guesting with everyone from Black Sabbath to Earth, Wind & Fire — up to his most recent collaboration in rock super-group Black Country Communion, which included Jason Bonham. When Black Country Communion disbanded Hughes and Bonham had a strong desire to keep playing together. They’re only challenge was finding a new guitarist worthy of their musicality. Easier said than done for these stars who between them have worked with some of the greatest guitarists in history — including Ritchie Blackmore, Tony Iommi, Jimmy Page, and Joe Bonamassa, to name just a few. Then fate took a hand in things when Glenn’s friend Julian Lennon introduced him to the astounding talents of a New York City hotshot guitarist named Andrew Watt. “Literally, the first day me and Andrew got together we wrote two songs,” recalls Glenn. “One was ‘Chemical Rain’ and the other was ‘Solo,’ both of which are now on the finished album. I was so moved by the music, I said, ‘We’ve got to record this!’ That’s when I called Jason.” Cut to autumn 2013. Recording with Dave Cobb at the producer’s own studio in Nashville, added all the finishing touches, says Glenn. At Cobb’s insistence, every vocal was recorded live as the band was playing. “Totally the reverse of what I’m used to,” says Glenn. “But I went into that aggressive rock soulfulness and everything down to the whispers, it was all done live! I enjoyed myself so much, just going for it. For what is on paper a three-piece, the sheer range of sounds and melodies you get from California Breed are breathtaking.”

-Gotthard Update: “Feel What I Feel” Video Clip

The countdown has started…

Only a little more than four weeks and it will finally be here: The big “BANG!” we’re all waiting for. Great that there’s the strong first single to tide us over, because “Feel What I Feel” definitely whets the appetite for more. Even more so watching the video, which officially premiered, starring former “Miss Switzerland” Anita Buri in the super hot leading role. Because let’s face it — what could possibly be better than: awesome track + beautiful woman = perfect.

“Feel What I Feel” Extraterrestrial Clip

During the shoot of “Feel What I Feel” it got quite warm in the “Pfalzkeller” of St. Gallen monastery and that wasn’t only caused by the spotlights … Apart from the elaborately filmed scenes of the band’s performance, the amazing Anita Buri raised the temperature in a tasteful, sexy alien costume, seducing our friend Nic good and proper. All very professional-like, of course. Find out how the story ends in the brand-new clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kIWZ6Kzwm7Y

“Feel What I Feel” Supernatural Single

It came directly from the studio and touched down in the single charts easily. Now, “Feel What I Feel” sets off to look at the airplay charts from the very top as well. No wonder, because the leading track from BANG! surges ahead with a hymnal hook and a fantastic chorus, blazing the trail for the new Gotthard album, which will be released on April 4, 2014 and will probably cause quite a chart quake once again.

“Feel What I Feel” World Premiere On TV

On March 7 the Swiss Music Awards will take place in the almost sold-out Zurich Hallenstadion. Obviously, Gotthard will be there to perform the TV world premiere of “Feel What I Feel.” “The SMAs will take place at the Hallenstadion for the first time. That’s exactly the place, where such an event belongs and we are very much looking forward to our performance premiering our new song ‘Feel What I Feel,'” confirms Marc. And Freddy adds: “The Hallenstadion always is very special. Frontiers Records is pleased to announce the release of L.R.S.’s debut album DOWN TO THE CORE on March 21st in Europe and March 25th in North America.

L.R.S. stands for the new Melodic Rock musical alliance between singer Tommy La Verdi (21 Guns), guitarist Josh Ramos (The Storm, Hardline), and drummer Michael Shotton (Von Groove, Airtime). Started initially as a way to bring back to the public the amazing vocal talent of Tommy La Verdi, a singer which came to the attention of the fans on the fabulous 21 Guns debut album SALUTE in 1992, the whole project morphed into a power band trio when two other well-known musicians — guitar player Josh Ramos and drummer Michael Shotton — were brought into the picture by the album producer Alessandro Del Vecchio (Hardline).

The writing sessions were fast and steady, with Del Vecchio managing all contributions from the band members — who lived in different places — and offering a number of his own writings and co-writings to the band, which was anyway able to develop a distinctive Melodic Rock sound in the tradition of Journey / The Storm, with hints of Canadian AOR — think mid ’80s Triumph. Recording sessions happened for the most part in Somma Lombardo, Italy during the spring of 2013, with the musicians getting along extremely well and creating a spontaneous camaraderie which contributed a lot to the success of the sessions.

“I respected a lot both Josh and Michael before starting the album and it was actually very sad to leave each other after we finished recording and filming the videos,” said Tommy La Verdi, while Michael Shotton added, “It was like we had been playing in a band for years!” “I had the opportunity to try different styles and moods and incorporate elements of my past musical experiences in The Storm and Hardline — I was very glad to be involved in this,” concludes Josh Ramos.

The resulting album DOWN TO THE CORE is now finally ready to be unleashed to the public. With soaring vocals from La Verdi, a superb vocalist who comes back into the well-deserved spotlight and some exquisite guitar playing from Ramos, this is an album not to be missed and an AOR highlight for early 2014!

Tommy La Verdi – lead vocals
Josh Ramos – guitars
Michael Shotton – drums, backing vocals

Alessandro Del Vecchio – keyboards, Hammond organ, backing vocals
Nicola Mazzucconi – bass, fretless bass
Anna Portalupi – bass, fretless bass
Jamie Browne – bass

-Epica Launches The First Episode Of Its Studio Documentary!

Dutch symphonic metallers Epica have launched the first episode of their studio documentary. The documentary gives a behind the scenes look at the recording process of the band’s sixth studio album THE QUANTUM ENIGMA. It also previews the first music from the upcoming album.

The band recorded THE QUANTUM ENIGMA together with upcoming producer Joost van den Broek at the Sandlane Recording Facilities in the Netherlands. The album has been mixed by Jacob Hansen (Volbeat, Hatesphere, etc.).

Where the 2013 RETROSPECT performance reflected on a decade as one of the leading bands in the symphonic metal scene, the upcoming sixth studio album THE QUANTUM ENIGMA marks the beginning of a new Epica: modern, heavy, and without compromises.

According to guitar player Isaac Delahaye, “The whole process of writing and recording TQE was extremely refreshing for us. Instead of preparing the album in our home studios separately, we rehearsed the songs together in the studio. Just like any other band, you could say, but as Epica is located in three different countries this is a little more complicated for us.

“The direct interaction between us has certainly lifted up the quality of the songs, as no detail was left unspoken. Definitely worth taking some time off from touring! As far as songwriting goes, the main focus was groove and melody.”

You can view the footage on the Nuclear Blast YouTube channel:

THE QUANTUM ENIGMA will be released on May 2nd (Europe), May 5th (UK) and May 13th (USA) through Nuclear Blast.

-John Taglieri Breaks Billboard Top 100

HANSON, MA — Leap Dog Music and Vanity Music Group are proud to announce that in its second week on the Billboard New Artist Chart, Boston based singer/songwriter John Taglieri’s SOUTHERN PARADISE has shot from #134 to #100. Fueled by his residency at Irish Kevins in Key West, FL, where he performs every other month, the combination of Taglieri’s electrifying stage show and the benefit of a new crowd every day, as well as his constant touring schedule around the Eastern US, has pushed John’s sales upwards on Billboard’s New Artist Chart. With a solid combination of live and online sales, the CD has established itself as one to be noticed.

“I can’t believe that I have a Top 100 CD on the Billboard charts!” said Taglieri. “I have an amazing fan base and they just keep me going. Its been a long road but worth every moment to see a childhood dream come true like this.”

Combined with winning Rockwired Radio’s’s “Best Recording Of The Year 2013 (EP)” (announced 1/27), as well as currently sitting at #1 on ReverbNation for the Boston Area, and charting on Hit-Tracks Top 100 Charts in The Netherlands at #61, 2014 has gone from strength to strength for Taglieri. SOUTHERN PARADISE also charted at #5 on Amazon.com’s Hot New Releases with the single for “Southern Paradise” also hitting #13 on Amazon.com. The video for the single also has over 5,000 views on YouTube.

SOUTHERN PARADISE was released in the Spring of 2013 via Leap Dog Music / Vanity Music Group and has broken new ground for Taglieri in the pop and country genres. “I worked with producers Sean Mormelo and Mark Cohn out of Nashville for this release and we naturally gravitated to a more pop/country vibe. It was a very comfortable place song wise and style wise for me. I’ve always sort of been on that line of rock & pop country and we just wrote some great songs in that vein,” said Taglieri.

To celebrate, a new single, “When I Think About,” has been released. You can hear and download the single at:

KANSAS CITY, MO — Kansas City pop rock artist Tyson Leslie has made a name for himself throughout the Midwestern USA through his work with acts like Pomeroy, and Baloney Ponyz, as well as his sideman duties alongside George Lynch, Carmine Appice, Corey Taylor, and others. Leslie was most recently seen on the road as a member of modern rock act Red Line Chemistry, touring with rock legends, Whitesnake.

Now, however, it’s time to take a leap into the deep end and unleash TRAIN WRECKS, HAVOC & HEARTBREAK, his debut album via own imprint, Above The Level Recordings. “Some of the songs on this album go back 20 years,” muses the multi-instrumentalist. “I’ve been so busy working in other peoples’ projects that it just took me this long to get it all together and figure out how I wanted to present it.”

On TRAIN WRECKS, HAVOC & HEARTBREAK, Tyson tackles everything from ’70s glam to upbeat rock tracks, humor and sensitive ballads, wrapping it all up and presenting it in a nice little power pop package. “I think my years of playing in cover bands and playing music that other people has written has helped me to develop my style a little more,” says Tyson. “I’ve become a little more rounded as a songwriter.”

-“Living Fast” Episode 1: Heavy Metal Talk Show Launched By Municipal Waste Guitarist Debuts!

“Living Fast” is a heavy metal talk show created by Ryan Waste (Municipal Waste/Volture/BAT). The first episode was filmed on January 18, 2014 and features John Gallagher of Raven! Relays Waste of the “Living Fast’s” impetus:

“‘Living Fast’ has been a long time coming. Heavy metal music has always consumed me and it became more of an obsession when I started collecting vinyl. I never cared so much about the albums being in mint condition; it was more about letting the vinyl ‘live’ so to speak. I DJ’d for years at bars, bringing my own turntables with me under the moniker ‘Hard ‘n’ Heavy Nites,’ inspired by the late great video series. I’d pull out heavy metal albums that ninety-nine percent of the bar crowd had never heard of, but it was my way of turning people on to the real stuff. The response was generally good, but drunk people are usually easily entertained. I was reaching such a small audience and wanted to spread this thing worldwide.

“I initially thought a radio show might be my calling, but these crazy kids all seem to go to YouTube to listen to music nowadays. So I figured I would just bring my record collection to the worldwide inter web and force it on everyone there. Adding a visual element seemed like it would be the icing on the cake. I grew up on late night television, ’80s comedy, and horror movies so why not throw it all in the mix? Adding a guest to the fold wouldn’t be too difficult after years of touring and meeting a lot of my heavy metal heroes. I befriended Raven’s John Gallagher through the same type of situation and he happened to be residing in the Virginia area. I had a BBQ at my house in July 2013 and his whole family came out to hang. A bunch of us were jamming in my bedroom and John came right up and started playing Sabbath tunes with us. He was just one of boys, down to rock and right then I asked him to be part of this show I was brainstorming.”

Fast Forward to January 2014.

“I had a date set to interview John, one camera that I borrowed from a friend and no crew. I put the word out that I was looking for people with some video experience and happened to ran into my artist buddy Jim ‘Barf’ Callahan who has designed over ten shirts for Municipal Waste. He said he knew a guy. That guy was Drew Bolduc, who, along with Michele Lombardi, ran Buncom Media International, a film and video production company in Richmond. The team had just finished their feature film, ‘Science Team,’ and also worked together for TROMA Entertainment doing special visual effects for ‘Return To Class Of Nuke ‘Em High’ Vol. 1 and 2. I had previously worked with TROMA for Municipal Waste’s ‘Headbanger Face Rip’ video so I knew we would have similar taste. Sure enough, Drew and Michele were up for the project. I got right to work and converted the ‘media room’ in my house into a late night talk show set. They brought in an entire audio/visual crew equipped with boom mics, professional lighting, and multiple cameras. ‘Living Fast’ was coming to life in less than a week’s notice. We banged out everything in a thirteen-hour session with a lot of ideas coming up right on the spot. I called upon our friends at IMOV Studios to do some animation for the show as well. IMOV is based out of Brussels, Belgium and they’re responsible for Municipal Waste’s animated video ‘You’re Cut Off.’ Pierre Mousquet worked tirelessly and came through with two cartoon intros for the show which really tie it all together.”

Check out the first edition of “Living Fast,” featuring Raven’s John Gallagher, at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i-doSw0LurI .

Look out for “Living Fast” Episode 2, “The European Edition,” which will be sponsored by Iron Fist Magazine ( https://www.facebook.com/ironfistzine ) in conjunction with the Culture Shock Euro Tour featuring Cauldron and Volture (more info at https://www.facebook.com/CAULDRONmetal/app_123966167614127 ). “It was an interesting record for me to do as I didn’t write anything on it, but that it was a cool record to make nonetheless. I’m playing all different schools of stuff on the thing guitar-wise, from Gary Moore / Jimi Hendrix / Michael Schenker-induced bluesy playing to my usual Yngwie Malmsteen meets Ritchie Blackmore meets Hank Sherman / Uli Jon Roth evil shred.”

Track listing:
1. End Of Days
2. I Am God
3. Voodoo Jesus
4. Last Rock’N Roll
5. Master Of Evil
6. Exorcism
7. Higher
8. Stay In Hell
9. Fade The Day
10. Zero G

“Zero G” video teaser:

First album quotes:
“I am rocking my damn brains out right now to the new band and album from Exorcism and it really is a Brutal, Killer, Heavy album that has so many styles mixed in that the Metal, Prog, Doom, and Rock fans are going to seriously enjoy! Pack your bags cause you are about to go on a journey from Heaven & Hell and back again.” (Jon Hernandez)

“This is an album full of really awesome material, with the melancholic sounds of songs like ‘Exorcism,’ with its powerful and emotive chorus and meaty riffs blending seamlessly with more upbeat rockers like ‘Higher,’ with its speedier feel to it and a definite driving sound.” (Metal-Temple)

“A first test successful for Exorcism shot! An international group gathered for you get a foot in the ass! I AM GOD is more than a concentrate of doom and heavy metal, it is a monument simply enjoyable! An album has discover without moderation! Guaranteed pleasure!” (Painkiller Metal Show)

“Joe Stump, Csaba Zvekan, Lucio Manca, and Garry King get heavy! There’s no ballads either (thank God) but there are some lighter moments that really show off their range. My personal favorite is ‘Voodoo Jesus,’ a song that Zvekan really brings alive, I think he’s channeling the late Ronnie James Dio at times on this one.” (RAAHP)

“Bottom line is that Exorcism with their debut album are going to make some noise in the metal community, no doubt ’bout that! They are the true defenders of the old school Heavy Metal scene and that’s a thing that reflects to their sound. The musicianship here is tight, the vocal performances are powerful and evil and the guitar work… heavy as hell!!! Highly recommended stuff for all you metal-freaks out there!” (Heavy Paradise)

Exorcism are:
Csaba Zvekan – vocals
Joe Stump – guitars
Lucio Manca – bass
Garry King – drums

THE RETURN OF THE BEARDED BRETHREN picks up where the debut left off but builds in every way from the quality of the song writing and playing boasting a fat production courtesy of Rich Robinson.

The album, which will include many tales of Guinness, ’70s sex symbols, drinking regrets, religious folly, and more, is slotted for a May 2014 release. Additionally, look for Grifter live across the UK and maybe even the US.

-New Yorkers Toxic Shock Reunite For First Show In Two Decades

NEW YORK — Seminal New York heavy metal band Toxic Shock will reunite this March for its first show in over two decades.

The group, which was started in the late-’80s by a group of bored suburban New York teens and completed upon finding a guitarist in a now-defunct shopping mall arcade, had just begun to find success in the early ’90s — recording in a professional studio and signing on with a management company — when tragedy struck. Guitarist Mark Dagostino, who played an integral part in the pre-Internet promotion of the young band, took his life, leaving his bandmates heartbroken and confused. Toxic Shock attempted to forge on, participating in an ill-fated tour with fellow New Yorkers Nuclear Assault, but Dagostino’s death had taken too much of a toll.

“Mark’s death put a huge strain on all of us that I don’t think we really could quantify at the time,” said vocalist Ray Bell. “Then being out on the road with no funds and a few other issues, it got to a point where the fun and inspiration were gone. We decided to take a break.”

The decision to get back together after all these years was spurred by the idea of a reunion show commemorating a local venue. After a few phone calls, the Toxic Shock guys were encouraged to move forward and renew their passion for playing metal. They signed on for the reunion show and began working on new material.

Toxic Shock now embraces three different guitar players who help to fill the void left by Dagostino, including two earlier members and one new addition. The current lineup is Ray Bell (vocals), Bruce Ryder (guitar), Pat Servedio (guitar), Bill Kelly (guitar), James Maloney (bass), and Wayne Rosario (drums).

“We have always been more like a family than friends,” Bell said. “It’s one of the reasons why Mark was never officially replaced. We know what the other is thinking or going to say about something. We played together for a lot of years.”

Toxic Shock’s reunion will take place Saturday, March 22 at Even Flow Bar & Grill in Bayshore, NY, which is located directly across from the former Sundance club, a staple in the ’80-’90s metal scene and site of Toxic Shock’s very first live show in 1987. Fellow New York natives Klank will co-headline the show with Toxic Shock and opening acts Plague Nation and Stainless Leather.

“We are anxious to play for everyone in 2014,” said Bell. “This show is going to be typical of a Toxic Shock show 20 years ago with energy that is just as high as it ever was. We are as tight as ever, both personally and musically.”

-Swedish Doom Band Below Announce Debut Album ACROSS THE DARK RIVER April 11th!

Landing Page Launched, First Song Online!

Epic doom metal band, Below, spent the end of 2013 at Sonic Train Studios in Sweden with none other than Andy La Rocque (King Diamond) to record their debut full-length album ACROSS THE DARK RIVER. The band is finally prepared to unveil the album title, art, and release the first single from the record. “Portal” is streaming now on http://www.metalblade.com/below , where fans can also pre-order copies of ACROSS THE DARK RIVER on CD, vinyl, and digital downloads. The album will be released on April 11th in Europe via Metal Blade Records.

Below offers a brief quote about the first single, “Portal”: “It’s a song about being in the presence of spirits, entering another dimension, a portal to the dead.”

Below hails from Sweden and the music has influences from late Black Sabbath, Candlemass, and King Diamond, so going with Andy La Rocque as the producer was a clear choice for the group. La Rocque added: “This is one of the heaviest bands I have worked with in the studio in a very long time. And always great to work with great musicians!”

Not much is known about the Swedish quintet, however they are working with Tobias Rosén — bass player of fellow Metal Blade Records artists Noctum — of Howlin’ Owl Productions. Below started writing songs and in November of 2012 and a four-track EP was recorded at Deep Blue Studios in Sweden. By this time, Tobias of Howlin’ Owl Productions heard them and asked to act as manager for the band. The EP was sent to various magazines, labels, and people in the business and was praised by everybody who gave the songs a listen. Metal Hammer awarded the EP a 9/10 rating.

The name Ape Machine is a nod to the days of reel-to-reel magnetic tape audio recording; a fitting moniker for the heavy-hitting quartet as the band plays through vintage tube amplifiers and lays down its songs using exclusively throwback quality studio equipment. With a heady mix of animal aggression and technical precision, Ape Machine’s music carries an organic depth and warmth rarely heard since the time of rock’s glorious early years (or your Dad’s bad ass record collection) infused with an exceptional modern sensibility. When the mystical lyrics of vocalist Caleb Heinze lock in with the band’s stone-cold groove, Ape Machine demonstrates an earth-shaking ability to rock. A true four-piece, the group has been called “a rock and roll band with a finger on the pulse of the ’70s and their asses firmly in the present” and “real heavy-psych for the iPhone generation” that delivers “true guts and glory rock and roll.”

Blending equal parts rock ‘n’ roll, blues, stoner rock, and psychedelia, Ape Machine is out to melt faces and pound the apathy out of otherwise jaded listeners with a wall of heavy rock n’ roll tones unheard since the days of bell bottoms, long hair, and blaring tube amplifiers.

Ape Machine’s mission is to combine intense melody, cutting riffs, and blistering live improvisation. Where many bands rely on meticulously rehearsed, just-like-the-record-parts, Ape Machine provides a live experience that is as unique as each evening it shares with an audience.

“Ape Machine retro-rocks for almost forty minutes in a way acts like The Sword and Witchcraft can only dream of.”
– Lords Of Metal

“Amidst all the hipster indie tameness of the Portland, OR, music scene, Ape Machine prove there’s still some stoner salvation to be found.”
– High Times

“MANGLED BY THE MACHINE is just a brilliant and hard-rocking blast from start to finish. Riffs are the main selling point and Ape Machine are modern day masters of the riff. Excellent and Highly Recommended. Ignore this album at your peril!!!”
– The Sludgelord

-Thothamon: Birmingham Doom Trio Unleashes New EP Via Domestic Genocide Records

Birmingham, Alabama traditional doom trio, Thothamon, recently joined goat horns with the eclectic sound peddlers at Domestic Genocide Records for the release of their latest EP.

Fittingly titled PROPHETS OF DOOM, the analog offering was recorded in two six-hour sessions by Emanual Ellinas at Magnetic Audio Recordings Studio on their home turf of Birmingham and delivers five slow, ominous canticles fit for the wretched and damned. Paying homage to the likes of Black Sabbath, Pentagram, Angel Witch, Coven, The Obsessed, Trouble, Candlemass, Iron Maiden, et al, with themes centered on epic tales of barbarians, wizards, dark lords, and ancient ones, Thothamon are at once primal, ugly, and darkly compelling.

Comments the Thothamon collective on joining the expanding Domestic Genocide roster, “We are very excited to be working with Domestic Genocide! For us, it looked like the right label to go to due to response we had heard from bands already on the label. It’s a label that works with the artist and its design and intent for the art created. We also love how there are different styles of metal on the label ranging from black to doom to blackened doom to death. This is also a label that works very hard at promoting their bands through various outlets across the metal scene. The allegiance between Thothamon and Domestic Genocide is going to be full of doom and glory for everyone involved!”

1. The Pass Of Caradhras
2. The Doom That Came To Sarnath
3. Glory Or The Grave
4. Devil In The Deep Blue Sea
5. My Heel, Your Throat

Colt McCormick – vocals/guitars
Brandon Mullins – bass
Rick Nibblett – drums

Hype from the blog: “Atlanta metal power trio Volume IV is a band that I have been raving about ever since hearing them for the first time a couple of years ago. Their live shows are monumental displays of dedication, love, and passion for all things metal. Seeing Volume IV live is a truly moving and powerful experience and while the band teased us with their four-song EP last year, it just wasn’t enough. We wanted more. I wanted more. Well, it seems that our prayers and demands will be met on March 11th when Volume IV releases their full-length debut album LONG IN THE TOOTH.” The band consists of Joe Carpenter on guitar and vocals, Blake Parris on bass, and Troy King on drums.
