-Black Star Riders Announce Plans For Second Studio Album

2013 was a fantastic year for Black Star Riders. It saw the release of their fan and critically acclaimed debut album, ALL HELL BREAKS LOOSE. The album charted well all over the world and the hot single “Bound For Glory” appeared on the tops of many year end best-of lists from outlets all over the world!

The band toured throughout Europe and Scandinavia, bringing their raw edged sound to thousands of fans. The energy has been intoxicating! Now it is time for the guys to continue with this momentum and create a follow-up album. Scott Gorham sums it up, “The fan response has been better then we could have hoped. I haven’t had this much fun in years!”

When it comes to the team behind the soundboard, Black Star Riders decided to change things up this time around. Taking over the production reins will be Def Leppard front man Joe Elliott. Adding to the dream team will be long time Leppard sound guru Ronan McHugh. Ricky Warwick chimes in on the reason Joe was tapped for this album. “Joe Elliott’s passion, enthusiasm for music, as a fan, artist, and friend is unquestionable and Ronan McHugh is a phenomenal engineer. Personally having worked with these guys before, it was a no-brainer when they said they would like to produce the new BSR album. We are confident that this will be a huge leap forward in the evolution of BSR.”

Joe Elliott adds, “Having worked with Scott on the Thin Lizzy re-mixes a few years ago and having produced Ricky’s first two solo albums, I’m looking forward to taking our musical journey together even further. We’re aiming to make a serious leap forward with the next album and I’m proud to be able to contribute to the next chapter in the BSR story.”

Black Star Riders are set to enter the studio in Dublin, Ireland in October 2014 to start recording their follow-up release. Damon Johnson adds “We are all excited about working with Joe, he is like part of the family. And recording this album in Ireland is a special treat for us.”

The new, as yet untitled, album will be released in the spring of 2015 through Nuclear Blast — the label behind acts such as Anthrax, Nightwish, and Meshuggah.

Black Star Riders are one of the first bands signed by Monte Conner — the former Roadrunner A&R guru who has signed acts such as Slipknot, Machine Head, Sepultura, and Rush. Conner recently joined Nuclear Blast as the president of Nuclear Blast Entertainment, a new US partnership he co-founded with Nuclear Blast owner Markus Staiger.

-Sweden Rock Festival: Billy Idol And Two More Bands Confirmed!

At SRF 2010 the rain took away some of the fun. That’s another reason to attend Billy Idol’s performance on SRF this year as well. Besides, obviously, to enjoy once more the outstanding hit collection that the legendary Brit, né William Broad, has gathered. Billy Idol was first discovered by his countrymen as a member of Generation X. In 1981 he moved to New York, joined forces with master guitarist Steve Stevens — and a brilliant solo career took off. “White Wedding,” “Dancing With Myself” (originally by Generation X), “Rebel Yell,” “Eyes Without A Face,” “To Be A Lover,” “Cradle Of Love,” and more classic songs turned the rebellious singer wearing his love of punk, pop, and glam on his sleeve, into one of the biggest rock stars of the ’80s. At present he’s working on his eighth studio album, while his old hits remain as beloved as ever.

Black Stone Cherry from Kentucky is arguably the most successful band in the younger generation of Southern rockers. They also rank among the genre’s bringers of renewal. Apart from the traditional ingredients, they have also experimented with the addition of stoner rock and contemporary radio rock. Since 2006, Black Stone Cherry has released three studio albums and the fourth, MAGIC MOUNTAIN, will be released in May. In the US, eight of their singles have charted so far and their star is steadily on the rise in Europe as well. Not least in the UK and — lest we forget — Sweden.

Pain Of Salvation is one of the most important bands on Sweden’s progressive rock scene. Since their 1997 debut they have released eight studio albums, each a concept record and each musically different to all the others. The common feature is, in short, the band’s and specifically front man/band leader Daniel Gildenlöw’s love of music in all forms. As a result, Pain Of Salvation have gained admirers both among traditional progressive rockers and prog metal fans. They even left their mark with “ordinary” listeners, when the ballad “Road Salt” performed admirably in Sweden’s national final for the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest.

Sweden Rock Festival 4-7 June 2014: Confirmed bands:

Black Sabbath, Alice Cooper, W.A.S.P., Alter Bridge, Megadeth, Transatlantic, Rob Zombie, Q5, The Rainmakers, Magnum, Queensrÿche, Emperor, m.fl. Totaly 84 band!

-British Super Group Asia Set To Release The New Studio Album GRAVITAS In March On Frontiers

Asia, the legendary British band, moves into the next phase of its extraordinary career with GRAVITAS, a brave new album that explores different musical landscapes while embracing its familiar musical past. Produced and written by band members John Wetton and Geoff Downes, GRAVITAS is deeply introspective within a clearly accessible sound. The album also introduces the world to Asia’s new guitarist, Sam Coulson, who came at the recommendation of Mr. Big’s Paul Gilbert.

Scheduled for release on Frontiers Records on March 21 (Europe); and March 25 (North America), the album will be available in two configurations: a standard CD and a Deluxe Edition, that will include two bonus tracks and a DVD containing the “Valkyrie” music video, a promotional film, and footage of classic live Asia tracks such as “Heat Of The Moment,” recorded with the Plovdiv Philharmonic Orchestra in Bulgaria.

From the title track, “Gravitas,” which chronicles a man’s struggle in the battlefield of life, to the powerfully compelling tale of unrequited love, “The Closer I Get To You,” the album is a tour de force for the band whose music has become a staple to rock fans.

“Pure, unadulterated and stereotypical Asia, with raw energy, enthusiasm, and free from impurities,” says John Wetton. “It conveys the spectrum of emotion and color from real life agonies to ecstatic fantasy of escapism. Great songs, fabulous performance. GRAVITAS is Asia by Asia. At last.”

“With the addition of Sam it allowed us to take the band in a slightly different, and perhaps tougher, direction,” says Carl Palmer. “As a band we have been able to grow, while at the same time, remain true to the classic Asia sound that our fans know and love.”

Asia’s debut album exploded onto the music scene in April,1982, and was the best selling album in the world of that year. Featuring Geoff Downes on keyboards; Steve Howe on guitar; Carl Palmer on drums; and John Wetton on lead vocal and bass; Asia was the logical successor to their collective bands of the ’70s — Yes, ELP, King Crimson, UK, and The Buggles. The original Asia reformed in 2006 for the first time in 23 years.

“It always was a great live band, but this time the dragon has awakened with fresh energy, direction, and purpose,” says Wetton. “As with any new Asia album, putting it all together presents something of a challenge,” says Geoff Downes. “Everyone involved rose way above and beyond this challenge. There is a renewed energy when we step on stage now; we can feel it and I know the fans can feel it.”

For Asia long-devoted fans, the band’s return to the concert stage can not come soon enough. As Palmer says: “Performing on stage is where this band truly comes into its element. Seeing the fans reacting to our music is what makes it all worthwhile. It is the fuel that drives this train we call Asia.”

About Multiple Sclerosis

Every hour in the United States, someone is newly diagnosed with MS, an unpredictable, often disabling disease of the central nervous system.

MS interrupts the flow of information from the brain to the body and stops people from moving.

Symptoms range from numbness and tingling to blindness and paralysis. The advancement, severity, and specific symptoms of MS in any one person cannot yet be predicted, but advances in research and treatment are moving us closer to a world free of MS.

Most people with MS are diagnosed between the ages of 20 and 50, with more than twice as many women as men being diagnosed with the disease.

MS affects more than 400,000 people in the US and 2.1 million worldwide.

Release Date: Tuesday, April 1, 2014

Los Angeles-based female-fronted metallers Hellion have inked a contract with London-based HNE/Cherry Red Records. The first of three Hellion albums set for release this year is a two-disc anthology entitled TO HELLION AND BACK, which will be released on April 1, 2014, and the first 1,000 copies will be autographed by the band’s singer, Ann Boleyn.

TO HELLION AND BACK chronicles the band’s beginnings from 1982, to the present, and features new music from Hellion. In 1983, when the term “female metal singer” did not exist, Hellion’s demo recordings (released as a self-titled Mini-LP) climbed to Number 6 in England’s rock charts. In America, Hellion however was regarded by the corporate music world as “too heavy” for a band with a female singer. Despite never releasing an album on a major record label, Hellion was the first female-fronted metal band to be featured on MTV and VH1 and was also the first US metal band to perform in the former Soviet Union on a Monsters Of Rock festival.

TO HELLION AND BACK features a collection of fan favorites, hard-to-find recordings, and previously unreleased tracks. Among the collection are also two songs that were produced by Ronnie James Dio at the legendary Sound City recording studio.

The musicians enlisted by powerhouse vocalist Ann Boleyn for the new Hellion include drummer Simon Wright (AC/DC, Queensrÿche, Dio, Dio Disciples), keyboardist Scott Warren (Dio, Heaven & Hell), Swedish import bassist Bjorn Englen (Yngwie Malmsteen, Dio Disciples), and up-and-coming lead guitarist Maxxxwell Carlisle.

Hellion’s new tracks were produced by legendary British studio icon Ken Scott, who has produced iconic albums, including David Bowie’s HUNKY DORY, THE RISE AND FALL OF ZIGGY STARDUST AND THE SPIDERS FROM MARS, ALADDIN SANE, and PINUPS. A top producer at Abbey Road Studios, Scott is also acknowledged as one of the five principal engineers for The Beatles. He has engineered countless classic works, including George Harrison’s ALL THINGS MUST PASS and Elton John’s MADMAN ACROSS THE WATER, HONKY CHATEAU, and DON’T SHOOT ME I’M ONLY THE PIANO PLAYER. Other credits include gold and platinum albums by Supertramp, David Bowie, Missing Persons, Kansas, and more. Scott recently said of the comparison between working with David Bowie and Ann Boleyn: “Working with Bowie or working with Ann of Hellion, you’ve got sheer talent.” Acknowledging Boleyn as the driving force propelling the band, Scott notes: “Over the years, the musicians have changed. The one musician that has always been the same is Ann. So once again, it’s new musicians. The one constant thing about Hellion is Ann, and her incredible voice.”

Says Wright of working with Boleyn and Hellion: “She’s tried to stay true to that heaviness and a certain darkness. She’s sticking to the same formula, just different musicians though.”

Hellion will tour in Europe, and the UK in 2014 and are expected to appear on a number of major festivals. The cover artwork was designed by Italian artist Gaetano Di Falco and inspired by the photography of P.G. Brunelli.

HANSON, MA — 2014 has started off huge for singer/songwriter John Taglieri. It was announced on 27 January that John won the Rockwired Radio Music Award for Best Recording (EP) for his release SOUTHERN PARADISE (Leap Dog Music / Vanity Music Group). Taglieri’s 11th effort, released in April ’13, has been selling steadily and helped Taglieri find a bit of a new audience with its pop country feel. Peaking at #5 on Amazon.com’s Hot New Releases chart and with radio airplay and a video with nearly 5,000 views, the EP has made a solid name for itself. He won the Best Recording nod in a viewers voted poll on Rockwired Radio, which makes it even sweeter.

“Knowing that this was decided by fans makes it really special to me…” says Taglieri. “I’ve been doing this a long time and to still be here and making music that people connect with means the world to me.”

With all of his touring, promotion, and sales, the web traffic he’s created has driven him up to the top spot, with a steady stream of plays and people visiting his page.

“Southern Paradise” (single) has also broken through on the Hi-Tracks Top 100 Charts in The Netherlands. Entering the chart at #88 two weeks ago, the song is picking up steam and has moved up a couple of spots to #86 this week.

-Eden’s Curse Announces UK Headlining Tour

Multinational Melodic Metal band Eden’s Curse are delighted to announce their debut headlining club tour of the United Kingdom which will take place this coming May. The “Symphony Of Sin UK Tour” will visit Scotland, England, and Wales stopping at Glasgow, Bolton, Wakefield, Wolverhampton, Grimsby, Swansea, and London.

The dates are as follows:

19/05/14 Ivory Blacks, Glasgow, Scotland, w/ Stormzone & Estrella
20/05/14 The Railway, Bolton, England, w/ Fahran
21/05/14 Snooty Fox, Wakefield, England, w/ Fahran & Skin&Bone
22/05/14 Slade Rooms, Wolverhampton, England, support t.b.a.
23/05/14 Yardbirds, Grimsby, England, Co-Headline w/ Absolva plus Babylon Fire
24/05/14 Static, Swansea, Wales, w/ Tainted Nation & Mayhem Messiah
25/05/14 Underwold, London, England, w/ Tainted Nation & Dendera

Tickets for all shows are now on sale and can be purchased from the venues directly or online at http://www.edenscurse.com/uktour .

The band naturally are very excited about headlining as bassist Paul Logue confirms “Absolutely! This is a real challenge for the band and dare I say it, quite a gamble in many ways! We have been so used to going out as the opening band for such great acts like Dream Theater and Stratovarius and now it’s our time to stand on our own two feet. So I guess you could say the feeling is more of nervous excitement! How many kids dream of standing up on a stage playing a headline set to their fans? I’m sure it will be amazing just getting the opportunity to play an extended set for our extremely loyal fan base that has waited patiently for this to happen. This tour is 100% for them.”

Paul goes onto explain how vital the Eden’s Curse fans are to the success of not just this tour but future endeavors. “They are absolutely key! We have such amazing and passionate fans in the UK and they have always delivered in the past for us. This however, is without question when we really need them the most! I appreciate that some of the shows are midweek and some people may have to travel to get there, but my experience as a regular concertgoer in this country is that Rock music knows no boundaries! However the harsh reality of today’s music business is that if we want to tour again in the UK we need our fans to show up in numbers to these shows and I have every faith that they will! If you are coming, bring a friend and let’s have a party!”

Support on the tour will come from various established Hard Rock acts such as Tainted Nation (fronted by Eden’s Curse drummer Pete Newdeck), Stormzone, Fahran (new band of former Serpentine lead vocalist Matt Black), Estrella, Skin&Bone (formerly Tara’s Secret), and Dendera. Whilst the show at Grimsby will be a co-headline with Absolva (ex-Fury UK) and Babylon Fire.

With the release of its debut single “A Lifetime Of Adventure” on February 7, 2014, Nightwish mastermind Tuomas Holopainen has now revealed the official music video on the track. The video was directed by Ville Lipiäinen and includes Mika Jussila’s photos of Tuomas Holopainen and Don Rosa in the recording studio.

You can watch it here:

Commented Tuomas:
“The director, Ville Lipiäinen, and me went through some options of how to approach the video and soon agreed to shoot a sort of ‘making of’ clip of the song. The idea of someone dressing up as Scrooge McDuck, and then filming him digging gold and riding an emu on an Australian desert felt just a tad corny. Ville then followed us to London’s Angel Studios and later Petrax Studios to film some shots from the orchestra, vocal, guitar, and piano sessions. The hero of the video is Don Rosa himself. His presence and facial expressions always put a big smile on my face. I hope you’ll enjoy this adventure as much as we did!”

“A Lifetime Of Adventure” that is sung by Johanna Kurkela has already been out on the Nightwish FanPOD tablet-computer app on 23 January 2014, two weeks before its world premiere.

New Single “A Lifetime Of Adventure” Out Now!

Tuomas Holopainen has released his debut solo single, “A Lifetime Of Adventure,” from his highly anticipated upcoming album MUSIC INSPIRED BY THE LIFE AND TIMES OF SCROOGE. The vocals on “A Lifetime Of Adventure” are done by Finnish singer Johanna Kurkela. The guitars were played by Finnish Jazz musician Mikko Iivanainen, whose wife Johanna did the backing vocals.

The single is available on CD, colored vinyl and digital!

“A Lifetime Of Adventure” is taken from the upcoming solo debut MUSIC INSPIRED BY THE LIFE AND TIMES OF SCROOGE which will be out on April 11, 2014 via Nuclear Blast. The cover artwork on both the single and the album is by Don Rosa, the illustrator of Disney’s Duck characters.

-Total Metal Festival: Kreator And Behemoth!

A surprise announcement completes the “high” part of TMF2014’s Bill!

After the bands already confirmed, including sacred monsters like Annihilator, Moonspell, and Death Angel, and especially after the surprising revelation of a low price of admission (only 40 euros for two days!), will be certainly in many to jump from my chair with the announcement of two (not one … two!!!) superbands which complete the upper bill of Total Metal Open Air Festival that calls to arms none other than the legendary German thrashers Kreator and one of most glorifying death/black metal band of the world, Behemoth!

With this amazing Edition, in fact, the TMF rises head-on in the panorama of the best Heavy Metal festival of the “Bel Paese” offering not only a generous handful of world-famous band, but also many other musical realities coming from almost every corner of the world as Americans Coldsteel and Aggravator; Israelis Desert; Greeks Acid Death, Sorrowful Angels, and Mindtreath; Swedish Days Of Anger; Italians Riul Doamnei, Dangerego, Symbolyc, Andromeda, Carboncoke, Embryo, and many other bands that the organizers will announce in the coming months for a total of nearly 40 bands in two whole days of festival!

And if this wasn’t enough to define the magnitude of this event, the organizers also add the free camping and an outline of games, rides, and extra-musical activities that will entertain the audience throughout the festival!

If you still can’t believe it, we reiterate: the tickets of the Total Metal Open Air Festival only cost 40 euro and are for sale on all circuits Ticketone, Bookingshow, and Metaltix! What are you waiting for to get yours?

-Saliva Return With New Singer, Label, Single, Album, And Tour

If you counted Saliva out when you heard that they had parted ways with singer Josey Scott, you have been proven dead wrong — all you have to do is give a listen to the group’s upcoming single, “Rise Up” (impacting radio and available for purchase via all digital stores on February 18th), and album of the same name (April 29th, via Rum Bum). And with new singer Bobby Amaru firmly in place, it appears as though there is a bright future for the new-look Saliva lineup, which also includes guitarist Wayne Swinny, bassist Dave Novotny, and drummer Paul Crosby.

“We’re lucky to have found him,” says Swinny about his new band mate. “We discovered him through one of our old crew guys. He really energized the rest of us. He’s a great songwriter, and a top-shelf producer in his own right.”

With acclaimed producer Bobby Huff (Papa Roach, 3 Doors Down, Tim Finn) on board, all the pieces seem to be in place. And Saliva has delivered with their new single, “Rise Up.” “‘Rise Up’ …it’s a statement on where we’re at,” adds Swinny. “The title just has that fire to it.”

And if you are a longtime Saliva fan, you are sure to be extremely pleased with the full-length RISE UP — a bold record full of big hooks, swagger, and plenty of guitars. And, outside of the ballad “Lost,” it’s first and foremost a rock record. These are songs that kick hard, from the immediacy of the aforementioned “Rise Up,” to the slow build of “Choke,” and the rollickin’ “Redneck Freakshow,” a song the band seems particularly proud of.

Saliva has already debuted a number of new songs live, with Amaru seamlessly working his way into the lineup. “The audiences have been great,” says the singer. “I think we have a whole new energy on stage.” Expect to see the band on tour the rest of the year and well into next. “It’s definitely a throwback, fun, party rock show,” adds Swinny. “And Bobby’s putting his own spin on the older material.”

Another piece to the puzzle has been uniting with a new independent label, Rum Bum Records, founded by Luis Bacardi, based in Miami, FL. Led by a team of industry veterans dedicated to finding original talent of all genres, the label offers worldwide distribution, and provides artists with the resources necessary to develop and expand their careers. By utilizing a variety of platforms including imaging, video production, marketing, social media, and publicity, Rum Bum Records is able to create versatile portfolios for talent, opening the doors to as many opportunities as possible. Additionally, the label has a full state-of-the-art HD Film studio to successfully build an artist’s image and brand identity into one that is fully recognized and sought after by the public.

There’s certainly a lot of revitalized energy on display throughout RISE UP. And despite his late arrival, Amaru thinks he knows why Saliva in 2014 sounds as vital as they were in 2001. “We’ve just gone back to the basics. You know, ‘being a rock band.'”

Wayne Swinny – guitars
Dave Novotny – bass
Paul Crosby – drums, percussion
Bobby Amaru – vocals

-Scorpion Child Announces New Lineup

Austin classic rock sensation Scorpion Child have added a new face to their lineup: drummer Jon “Charn” Rice, formerly of Job For A Cowboy. Scorpion Child bassist and founding member Shaun Avants shares the following:

“Scorpion Child is excited to announce some recent lineup changes within the camp. As with any team or group, decisions must be made that are vital to the overall attitude, creativity, quality, and lifespan of a shared and common goal. Any decision we make is and always will be for the betterment and advancement of this band.

“That being said, we have decided to move forward as a four piece — at least for now — as we say goodbye to our friends [rhythm guitarist] Tom Frank and [former drummer] Shawn Alvear. We wish them the very best in any and all of their future endeavors and it should be noted that their contributions were not without their merits.

“We are pleased to announce that Jon ‘Charn’ Rice (ex-Job For A Cowboy, 1349) will be taking the position as our new drummer. He exemplifies ambition, hard work, and the general personality that gives this band the potential to function as a tighter unit. His handful of performances with Nonpoint and the Shiprocked cruise earlier this year only solidified our faith in his abilities and filled us with an overwhelming excitement for the coming possibilities.

“Thank you to all of our fans for weathering the seas of change. We’ll see you all very soon. Bigger. Better. Faster. Stronger.” Before heading out to the UK for nine shows starting March 16th, Scorpion Child will have a showcase at this year’s SXSW Festival in Austin, Texas. Date & time will be announced soon.

-New England Metal & Hardcore Festival: New Round Of 2014 Lineup Additions Includes Sam Black Church

The latest round of additions to the continually-expanding lineup for 2014’s installment of the long-running New England Metal & Hardcore Festival has been disclosed, including one of this year’s fest highlights: Massachusetts’ own ’90s hardcore punk legends, Sam Black Church.

Confirmed as one of the main headliners of the event’s third night, Saturday, April 19th, Sam Black Church’s set at NEMHF 2014 will mark only the third performance since they initially disbanded at the turn of the century, and first in Central Massachusetts since the late ’90s. Stated the band upon being asked to take part in the massive event this Spring, “It is amazing what the man we used to know as Ogre has done with the New England Metalfest! We are f*cking excited to be a part of it once again!”

Formed in Boston, in June of 1988 by Jesse “Jet” Crandall (vocals), Ben Crandall (guitar), Richard G. Lewis (bass), and J.R. Roach (drums), Sam Black Church was known for their energetic live performances, playing a frenetic blend of hardcore, metal, and thrash. Over the years sharing bills with bands as diverse as Bad Brains, Clutch, Motörhead, Cro-Mags, Fear, and Helmet, they were one of the most popular hardcore bands in the Northeast United States during the 1990s. After releasing three full-lengths on Taang! Records, they left to join Wonderdrug where they remained until they retired in 2000 after releasing a total of seven albums. Since disbanding, Sam Black Church reunited for a sold-out show on September 22, 2007, at The Roxy in Boston, and played a another sold-out performance at Hometown Throwdown #16 with The Mighty Mighty Bosstones at House Of Blues in Boston on December 29th, 2013. A documentary of their career by Duncan Wilder Johnson entitled “Leave Behind A Groove In The Earth” is scheduled for release in 2014.

Also now confirmed to invade this year’s New England Metal & Hardcore Festival are Oceano, Scars Of Tomorrow, The Last Ten Seconds Of Life, InDirections, and Julius Seizure on Thursday, April 17th, and Reflections on Friday, April 18th. -About Heavy Metal’s “Best Heavy Metal Albums Of 1985” list is at http://glclk.about.com/?zi=1/Nhjj .

-Beneath — the “Swedish Thrash Metal project” consisting of Christoffer Binnberg on vocals, Emil Kyrk on bass and vocals, and Mats Tornebohm on drums — has a new lyric video for “Vengeance I Breathe” online at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6_FrLIr-XM4&list=HL1391626759 . The album ANTIDOTE is due out March 7. Hype: “Beneath’s music can best be described as melodic and brutal, beauty and beast, acoustic and distorted, singing and growling. Take the aggression of thrash metal and the melancholy of twin guitar harmonies, add traditional songwriting and the furiosity of hard core and you might get the picture.” ANTIDOTE track listing: “Vengeance I Breathe,” “Reasons Undefined,” “Blissfully Numb,” “Harvest Of Mankind,” “Fear Vs Hate,” “In The Shadow Of The Beast,” “Everything Ends,” “Killed In The Womb,” “The Antidote.” See http://www.beneath.se/ , http://www.facebook.com/beneathband, http://www.twitter.com/Beneathband , http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCD9zI6UVo8o0ErIqgVzSdMg , and http://www.reverbnation.com/beneath4 for more.

-Deathpoint will perform an “Anti-Valentine’s Day show” on February 14 at Red Papaya in Guelph, ON, with Seducing Medusa, Killitorous, This Is Identity. Hype from singer Tom Emmans: “What better way to say f*ck Valentine’s Day than being in the pit with your closest of friends and the closest of strangers. This holiday, spend it with Deathpoint — Love stinks, but the music doesn’t have to.” The band also announced guitarist Bill Elliot (Battlesoul), bassist Tiny Basstank (A Sin For A Prayer), and drummer Steve “The Animal” Mitchell (Burning The Day) have been added to the touring lineup. Check out the video for “Between The Lines” at http://youtu.be/43mh1Dmputw , and the whole album SINISTER streaming at http://deathpoint.bandcamp.com/album/sinister . See http://www.facebook.com/Deathpoint.metal , http://instagram.com/deathpointmetal# , and http://www.soundcloud.com/Deathpoint for more.

-Andi Deris And The Band Bankers — featuring the Helloween singer backed by young guns Nico Martin (guitar), Jezoar Marrero (bass), and Nasim López-Palacios (drums) — has MILLION DOLLAR HAIRCUTS ON TEN CENT HEADS out now in North America via Armoury/earMusic. Track list: “Cock,” “Will We Ever Change,” “Banker’s Delight (Dead Or Alive),” “Blind,” “Don’t Listen To The Radio (TWOTW 1938),” “Who Am I,” “Must Be Dreaming,” “The Last Days Of Rain,” “EnAmoria,” “This Could Go On Forever,” “I Sing Myself Away.” (Released in 2013, the Japanese version also has the bonus track “The Time Of My Life,” and the limited edition European two-disc version has a bonus CD featuring demos of “Behind Dead Eyes” (unreleased), “Little Lies” (unreleased), “TWOTW 1938 (Don’t Listen To The Radio),” “Must Be Dreaming,” and “EnAmoria.”) This is Deris’ third solo album overall, and first since 1999’s DONE BY MIRRORS. Hype: “Written and composed by Andi Deris himself, MILLION DOLLAR HAIRCUTS ON TEN CENT HEADS has a crispy, modern sound to it. The diverse, high class production is snotty, dirty, and brutally honest — a healthy mixture of recent Helloween records combined with MASTER OF THE RINGS tradition (Deris’ Helloween debut) and it features some extra ordinary Hendrix-like guitar sounds.” Deris co-produced the album with Jeronimo Errecart. See http://www.andideris.my-board.org/ , https://www.facebook.com/andiderisofficial , and http://www.eaglerockent.com/ for more.

-Hardcore Superstar — the “Swedish Hardrock bad boys” — has a new video for “Last Call For Alcohol” online now at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Htk40fRczI . See http://www.hardcoresuperstar.com/ for more.

-Killwhitneydead is streaming another new track, “Sound The Alarms,” from the upcoming SUFFER MY WRATH at http://youtu.be/1u_UjrviApo . Hype from vocalist Matt Rudzinski: “I was a teenager in the mid ’80s and have always been influenced by thrash metal and hardcore. It was an amazing time back then with the rise of the crossover scene erasing all previous boundaries that kept the scenes apart. Bands like Leeway, Cro-Mags, and Suicidal Tendencies are still in constant rotation in my house. I am just happy that we were able infuse more of those influences into the KWD sound.” SUFFER MY WRATH track list: “A Prelude To War,” “Sound The Alarms,” “Demons Consume,” “Tyrant Enthroned,” “Evil Lives Within,” “Tip Of My Tongue,” “Sugartooth (Mundus Vult Decipi – Part I),” “Serpents & Lies (Mundus Vult Decipi – Part II),” “Living Hollow,” “Replicate To Survive,” “The Death Of Celebrity.” The album can be pre-ordered on LP, CD, and digitally at http://suffermywrath.bigcartel.com/ . See http://www.KWDSUX.com/ and http://www.tribunalrecords.net/killwhitneydead/ for more.

-Check out part one of Lost Society’s recent Facebook Fan Interview online now at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-K3lhjyuPlo . The band will release TERROR HUNGRY through Nuclear Blast on April 4. Track list: “Spurgatory,” “Game Over,” “Attaxic,” “Lethal Pleasure,” “Terror Hungry,” “Snowroad Blowout,” “Tyrant Takeover,” “Overdosed Brain,” “Thrashed Reality,” “F.F.E.,” “Brewtal Awakening,” “Mosh It Up,” “Wasted After Midnight,” “You Can’t Stop Rock ‘N’ Roll” (bonus track). Hype: “Produced by Nino Laurenne (Amorphis, Ensiferum, Lordi) at the renowned Sonic Pump studios (Finntroll, Sonata Arctica, Omnium Gatherum), the Finns shred their way through the new record with the energy and speed of an out-of-control freight train, rolling downhill on the way to Thrash-Olymp.” See https://www.facebook.com/lostsocietyfinland for more.

-CNN and Manowar? The band gets a mention in an article about a European Space Agency speaker setup that simulates the rigors of space flight. Check it out at http://www.cnn.com/video/data/2.0/video/tech/2014/02/10/worlds-loudest-speaker-orig-cfb.cnn.html .

-The UK’s Messenger has a new video for “Somniloquist” online exclusively at PopMatters.com, at http://www.popmatters.com/post/178980-messenger-the-somniloquist-video-premiere/ . The track comes from ILLUSORY BLUES, which is due out March 31 on Svart Records. See http://www.facebook.com/messengerbanduk for more.

-Miracle Master’s new video for “Tattooed Woman” is online now at http://youtu.be/IfxfY9D5jOs . The song is the title track from the new album, due out March 7 through GoldenCore Records/ZYX Music. Hype from the band: “Expect real kick ass, in-your-face Hard Rock on the new album, recorded with huge balls and heavy rockin’ guitar sounds!” Miracle Master features ex-Pump members Aki Reissmann (guitar), Selly Bernhardt (guitar), Michael Vetter (bass), and Andy Minich (drums) along with singer Oliver Weers (Oliver Weers Band). See http://www.miracle-master.com/ , http://www.facebook.com/MiracleMasterBand , and http://www.youtube.com/user/MiracleMasterTV for more.

-The Montreal-based progressive rock/metal band Mire will appear on the Musique Plus channel’s “Top Musique” show at 6 p.m. local time on Friday, February 27. The band will perform and be interviewed. Hype from singer J.P. LaChapelle: “Musique Plus has always crossed my mind in terms of establishing myself as a public figure, even when I wanted to become a VJ Host as a kid. I didn’t expect to be on air behind the microphone growing up, but it’s great to grow out of some stereotypes. Now I understand that every stroke of the brush gets us closer to popping up on the map in terms of people’s interest. So it’s a real honor to get invited for a live interview, and we look forward to delivering a kick-in-the-chest performance at 6 p.m. on Friday, February 28. Turn up the volume on your TV.” Mire also has two upcoming shows:

2/15 – Club Soda, Montreal, QC
3/20 – Underworld, Montreal, QC

-The all-female Brazilian thrash crew Nervosa will release VICTIM OF YOURSELF on Napalm Records in late February/early March, depending on territory. Track list: “Intro,” “Twisted Values,” “Justice Be Done,” “Wake Up And Fight,” “Nasty Injury,” “Envious,” “Morbid Courage,” “Death,” “Into Mosh Pit,” “Deep Misery,” “Victim Of Yourself,” “Uranio Em Nos.” Hype: “The all-female Thrash Metal combo pushes the pedal to the metal and offers the listener high-speed riffs, furious drumming, and raging leads. The songs have a brutal and raw energy and are crowned by murderous hooks and the aggressive vocals by bassist Fernanda Lira. Nervosa will take the Thrash Metal scene by storm!” The band has received accolades from such thrash luminaries as Bobby “Blitz” Ellsworth (Overkill) and Schmier (Destruction), among others.

-Sonata Arctica’s new single “The Wolves Die Young,” from the upcoming PARIAH’S CHILD, is out now; it can be ordered on CD or digitally at http://bit.ly/1k35KED and http://georiot.co/SonataArcticaWolves , respectively.
