-I kinda forgot about the truTV series “Full Throttle Saloon,” which chronicles the shenanigans that go on each year at the titular establishment during the big motorcycle rally in Sturgis, SD. We somehow found it again last week and now we’ve been binge-watching. Jackyl’s Jesse Dupree is the “entertainment director” (or somesuch) at the saloon and he seems to have a larger part in the series, as compared to the first couple of seasons. I feel like I need to shower after every episode, but it is fun to watch. 🙂 – Tim

-Manowar Reveals Cover For KINGS OF METAL MMXIV

Manowar has revealed the front cover of the upcoming double album KINGS OF METAL MMXIV, an evolution of the original 1988 cover by Ken Kelly, at http://www.manowar.com/ .

A new painting by Ken Kelly, featured on the back of the CD, will be revealed soon.

“Ken has always been able to perfectly capture the essence of Manowar in his art. These covers, the two new ones and the one he created in 1988, visualize what Manowar, our music, and our fans stand for! Just look at these paintings and the story they tell: People have tried to keep this warrior down, attacked him, and attempted to destroy him. But he stood tall, no matter what! He fought for true metal in country after country. And he will continue the march and fight for his brothers and sisters all over the world, until all enemies of true metal have been crushed!” explained Joey DeMaio.

“This collaboration has been an incredible experience once again,” said Ken Kelly. “We didn’t know where the journey would lead us. The art literally takes over and the music and the lyrics guide us. I truly believe the Manowar fans are going to love this series.”

KINGS OF METAL MMXIV is a completely new recording, celebrating the 25th anniversary of the release of KINGS OF METAL.

The KINGS OF METAL release in 1988 and the following world tour in 1989 catapulted Manowar into a new sphere. Songs like “Heart Of Steel,” “Kings Of Metal,” “Hail And Kill,” and “Blood Of The Kings” became instant classics, celebrated since by metal fans all over the world.

For KINGS OF METAL MMXIV, Manowar has recorded these timeless metal anthems with new arrangements and their signature “larger than life” sound that sealed their place in heavy metal history.

KINGS OF METAL MMXIV will feature nine main tracks packed with face-melting metal, plus 10 bonus tracks with over 45 minutes of additional music.

The spoken word track “The Warrior’s Prayer MMXIV” features celebrated British actor Brian Blessed, a renowned Shakespeare and character actor who has starred, among others, in Kenneth Brannagh’s “Henry V,” in “King Lear,” and as Prince Vultan in the cult movie “Flash Gordon.”

Special effects of the highest level were provided by award winning sound designer Hamilton Sterling, known for “Batman – The Dark Knight,” “Men In Black 3,” “War Of The Worlds,” and “Master and Commander: The Far Side Of The World,” two of which won Oscars® for Best Sound Editing.

KINGS OF METAL MMXIV will be released in retail on February 28, 2014 as a 2 Disc CD with two 24-page booklets and new cover art by legendary fantasy artist and longtime collaborator Ken Kelly, and will also be available as a digital double album.

The KINGS OF METAL MMXIV world tour, featuring the complete new album and many other classics in a completely new stage production starts on February 7, 2014 with a long-anticipated US tour and will then resume on March 18 in Europe.

All tour dates can be found on http://www.manowar.com/tour .

-Sonata Arctica: Track List Of PARIAH’S CHILD Released

On March 28 the new Sonata Arctica album PARIAH’S CHILD will be released. It is the band’s eighth studio album and the follow-up to their successful STONES GROW HER NAME.

Today Sonata Arctica release the track list of PARIAH’S CHILD:

1. The Wolves Die Young
2. Running Lights
3. Take One Breath
4. Cloud Factory
5. Blood
6. What Did You Do In The War, Dad?
7. Half A Marathon Man
8. X Marks The Spot
9. Love
10. Larger Than Life

The recordings were just completed, and the band is still overwhelmed by themselves about the final result. Vocalist Tony Kakko recently commented:

“There are some instant Sonata-Greatest-Hits songs there, which feels good. I think we reached the result we had in mind, each of us in our own field. We went on to create the next Sonata Arctica power metalesque album and I think we achieved it adequately. I have to say that I had drifted pretty far away from those ‘days of thunder,’ that speedy happy go lucky attitude. I was happy to notice this style can still make me smile. It’s good. Music has to do that to me. It also shows the other older songs in a totally new light for me. I can now understand and appreciate why the fans enjoy what we did in the early days.”

The album was recorded and produced by the band at “Studio 57” in Alaveteli, Finland. The mix was done by the band’s new bass player Kauppinen.

Sonata Arctica also recorded five studio episodes with each member, which will be released every week. Check out the first part, featuring drummer Tommy Portimo, here:

Landing Page And First Song Online!

American classical Thrash/Speed Metallers Flotsam And Jetsam have announced their new album — NO PLACE FOR DISGRACE – 2014!

NO PLACE FOR DISGRACE – 2014 will be released on February 14th in Europe (17th in UK, 18th in North America). Fans can listen to “P.A.A.B,” watch videos, and pre-order NO PLACE FOR DISGRACE – 2014! at http://www.metalblade.com/flotsamandjetsam .

Comments Flotsam And Jetsam: “We have re-recorded NO PLACE FOR DISGRACE because we have had a lot of requests to re-mix this record. The master tapes have been very difficult to obtain so we decided to re-record the album and use some of today’s technologies to recreate it. The aim was not really to change but to enhance it with the opportunity with the use of new tools. We have the time available as well and it just seemed like a no brainer. A lot of the die hards are really nervous about it but I think after the final result they will embrace it. The sound quality is 100% better and more refined!”

Flotsam And Jetsam will be heading over to Europe in February to support Sepultura and Legion Of The Damned!

-Guitar Master Ethan Brosh Unleashes LIVE THE DREAM

Prepare to be amazed! LIVE THE DREAM, the upcoming all-instrumental album from guitar wunderkind Ethan Brosh, is due out March 4 on drumming legend Carmine Appice’s new label, Rocker Records LLC, and Brosh’s dazzling chops and limitless imagination as a player and composer will undoubtedly delight metal aficionados and fill them with awe.

An honest-to-goodness guitar hero, Brosh, who grew up in Israel, is a daring six-string acrobat who plays with fire and precision, never sacrificing technical proficiency for flashy showmanship — although his dynamic, fleet-fingered solos, furious riffs, and complex acoustic figures are wildly entertaining. Having added to his already bulging bag of tricks, the Berklee College of Music graduate, now an instructor at the school, soars to new heights on LIVE THE DREAM, pushing the envelope with supernatural guitar wizardry and drawing up stunningly inventive musical designs that are wondrous to behold.

“Rocker Records and Carmine Appice are excited to be working with one of metal’s up-and-coming young stars,” said the label’s Michael Cusanelli.

They are not alone in their admiration. Mixed by Max Norman (Ozzy Osbourne, Megadeth) and mastered by Bob Ludwig (Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, and Iron Maiden), LIVE THE DREAM — with cover art painted by Joe Petagno — is progressive and intellectual in its construction, showcasing refined melodic sensibilities and a maturing instinct for developing intricate and diverse harmonies. LIVE THE DREAM, an album Brosh began promoting last spring while touring in support of Yngwie Malmsteen, finds Brosh quickly evolving as a songwriter, even going so far as to effectively experiment with flamenco, trading off nylon string and full-on electric guitar parts in a completely unique and beguiling fashion while also employing the formidable talents of Megadeth’s Dave Ellefson in a way nobody would expect.

Brosh used to be in the band Angels Of Babylon with Ellefson, who appears on two LIVE THE DREAM tracks. Together again, they go nuclear on the track “Rude Awakening.”

“The intent here was to create a heavy, in-your-face kind of tune with a real mean groove to it!” said Brosh, joined by bassist Alex Pierce and drummer Tyler LeVander on LIVE THE DREAM. “I figured this tune could use the help of the greatest thrash metal bassist Dave Ellefson! I still can’t get over how huge Ellefson’s bass intro sounds after the incredible mix of Max Norman!”

Brosh is just as enthused about the title track. “I feel this tune defines a lot of my guitar playing at this point in time,” he said. “It’s an epic tune that combines some hard rock riffs that have lots of drive to them. I believe the beginning is a perfect introduction to this record and its dream concept!”

A product of an enjoyable creative process, “Space Invaders” is mind-blowing as well. “Since this is a guitar instrumental record after all, I figured I’d have some fun with writing a tune that has a fast riff and lots of guitar harmonies, etc., etc. … I’m really proud of the way it came out because I feel the melodies came out strong in the end,” said Brosh. “To me, that’s really important. People seem to respond really well to this one when we play it live. Maybe it’s because it has too many nooooooootes!”

It’s a good bet they’ll embrace “Clean Slate,” too.

“The tune started as a guitar only idea,” said Brosh. “It developed through time. When I sit at the edge of the stage and play this tune, it is an intimate moment between the audience and me, regardless of the crowd size. Once the band joins in with a big bang, it really hits the listener hard! I think we managed to capture that vibe very well on the record, too. I have a feeling this will be a tune that stands out for people!”

Below is the track listing for LIVE THE DREAM:

Track listing:

1. Live The Dream
2. Forbidden Pleasure
3. Bottomless Pit
4. Knock On Wood
5. Space Invaders
6. Suspicious Exchange
7. Rude Awakening
8. Dawn Of An Old Era
9. Clean Slate
10. Silver Lining
11. Up The Stairway
12. When Picks Fly
13. Crying Moon

Iron Savior: More RISE OF THE HERO Release Info / CD Release Show!

With THE LANDING, German heavy/power metal force Iron Savior returned to the scene after a four-year break in November 2011. The band made impact on the scene again with one of their very best releases, and that’s where Iron Savior now continue with RISE OF THE HERO (out on February 28th). As usual, the new album was recorded and produced in Piet Sielck’s Powerhouse studio. What can be expected? A full dose of first-class heavy music, power metal to the max!

But Iron Savior like to surprise their fans as well from time to time. Who would have expected a cover version of Mando Diao’s “Dance With Somebody” from the Hamburg-based band? Well, whatever works is allowed. So Sielck admits that “Dance With Somebody” originally was recorded to become a bonus track for the limited edition, “but we simply liked it too much and finally decided to make it a regular album track.”

Beside the “saviorized” Mando Diao song you find 11 crunchy, melodic, powerful metal tracks in best Iron Savior style. Compared to THE LANDING, the new material even turned out to be a little heavier while easily keeping the band’s trademarks alive.

Iron Savior will celebrate the release of their new album with a special LIVE release show on February 26th in their home town Hamburg, Germany.

-earMusic/Eagle Rock Entertainment To Release Special Edition Of Marillion’s SOUNDS THAT CAN’T BE MADE On 2CD And Digital Audio February 11, 2014

NEW YORK, NY — On February 11, 2014, Eagle Rock Entertainment/earMusic will release the Special Edition 2CD of Marillion’s SOUNDS THAT CAN’T BE MADE album in North America. [MSRP $15.98 for CD].

Originally released in 2012, SOUNDS THAT CAN’T BE MADE was Marillion’s 17th album. It hit the Top 40 charts in the Netherlands, Poland, Germany, Norway, and France, and followed the success of 2009’s LESS IS MORE and the LIVE FROM CADOGAN HALL album. This special edition boasts not only the original eight tracks, but a bonus second disc with radio sessions of “Wrapped Up In Time,” “Power,” and “Pour My Love,” a demo arrangement of “Lucky Man,” and live versions of “Sounds That Can’t Be Made” and “Invisible Ink.” The 2CD also includes enhanced artwork.

Considered one of Britain’s most original and innovative bands, Marillion has carved a niche as purveyors of soulful, powerful, and deeply moving songs, with a long-standing reputation of blistering live shows. Lead singer Steve Hogarth, guitarist Steve Rothery, keyboardist Mark Kelly, bassist Pete Trewavas, and drummer Ian Mosley have enjoyed a rich, musical history, with 16 studio albums, over 20 UK Top 40 hits, and an impressive and faithful global fan base.

Looked upon as leaders of the neo-progressive movement of the early ’80s, and hailed by England’s Classic Rock magazine as “a national treasure,” Marillion has consistently dodged categorization. Genesis and Radiohead may come up in their “audio cocktail,” but ask each musician about the world of sound they’ve created and you’re likely to get five different answers. THAT is what sets Marillion apart.

In 2014, Marillion has assumed the status of a classic rock band — not just by their fans, but by their increased recognition in the music business and media at large. They were recently declared “Band Of The Year” at the second annual Prog Rock Awards.

-Eric Clapton – THE 1970’S REVIEW On DVD March 11

Film follows Clapton’s bold musical journey through the 1970s, with exclusive interviews, rare footage and more.

In 1968, Eric Clapton was at a crossroads. A virtuoso lead guitarist and the crown prince of heavy rock, with Cream he had quickly risen to the very pinnacle of popular music’s hierarchy. Yet his exposure to the work of American mavericks The Band led him to lose faith in his own group, and to embark on a bold musical journey across the following decade.

This film, from the makers of Eric Clapton – THE 1960’S REVIEW, follows Clapton’s journey through the seventies, from his immersion in musical collectives such as Delaney & Bonnie & Friends and Derek and the Dominos, through his re-emergence in 1974 as a phenomenally successful solo artist and onwards across a series of critically acclaimed albums and tours in the latter half of the decade which cemented EC’s reputation as not just an extraordinary musician but as a composer of majestic material and a performer of quite startling intensity.

Featuring new and archive interviews, rare performance footage, contributions from the likes of Bonnie Bramlett, Bobby Whitlock, The Albert Brothers, George Terry, Willie Perkins, Bill Halverson, Clapton biographer Marc Roberty, and more, plus a host of other features.

-CONDITION RED Re-Mix/Re-Master Now Available On Digital Platforms

Originally released in 2000, Lars Eric Mattsson has gone back to the master tapes and re-mixed the sound for a new digital version of the eponymous Condition Red debut album which saw release on all leading digital platforms on 15 January 2014.

Condition Red is a progressive rock/metal project originally a dream child of keyboardist Alexander King and guitarist Lars Eric Mattsson. The first album was composed in 1999 and released 2000 and featured a seven-piece band which included guitarist Alex Masi (Masi, MCM) and guest Derek Sherinian (Solo, ex-Dream Theater, Billy Idol, etc.) on some blistering keyboard solos. Condition Red mixes progressive metal with hard rock, neoclassical, and fusion.

The album contains eight long-form tracks, of which three (“Bach On The Streets Again,” “Lighthouse,” “Final Words”) are all-instrumental. Complex arrangements with symphonic orchestra and full blast solos from some of today’s greatest musicians are taken to a new level on this concept album. Alex Masi, Derek Sherinian, and Lars Eric Mattsson need no further introduction and the newcomers have no problem fitting in.

CONDITION RED was written in late 1999 and recorded between January and April 2000. The band explored and developed new ground rather than following in the steps of others, and its complicated rhythms and arrangements are not like any other releases that we know of. Ella Grussner’s violin and vocals are an essential part of this project, as well as the two amazing keyboardists, Derek Sherinian and newcomer Alexander King.

Condition Red is music for people with open minds.

-Radiant Records: A Message From Neal Morse

[Note: This came from the Radiant Records email bulletin. – Tim]

Hello everyone,

I want you all to know what’s happening with the shipping of the Transatlantic KALEIDOSCOPE packages from Radiant. Some of the products we received on time, and some we didn’t. As of today, Tuesday, we just received the LPs. (They are AMAZING BTW) I was warned that we might not get them on the 15th as requested because they just take a long time to make and ship. But I wanted to make a vinyl anyway… I just wanted to let you know that if you ordered the Transatlantic vinyl it’s just arrived here in Tennessee after being stuck in customs for a little over a week. Apparently, customs in the US is a ridiculous hassle… you wouldn’t believe the hoops we had to jump through… Ask me how I know 🙂

Also, the art books that came from Europe were delayed and we didn’t receive them til last Friday. We asked for them to get here as early as possible and apparently that was as early as they could get here.
I just wanted to make sure you all know that we are doing everything we can to get these out in the next couple days. Some of you may get them early, but others will get the packages a little later than the release date. Please be patient and I sincerely apologize for any disappointment you may have.

Also, Megan and Julie (and everyone else on the planet I can convince to help us!) are crazy busy trying to get your orders out so email responses will be slow.

The great news is that the product itself is killer! When you get it you will be in love for sure! I know I am… We finally got the artbooks and my mind is permanently blown! Oh yes, other not so good news, we cannot get any more Artbooks from Europe as they are sold out. I’ve been talking to Thomas and begging him… But he says it’s just not possible at this time unless they get any returns from the shops. So there won’t be any on the tour either unless something happens unforeseen. Again, my apologies… I thought I ordered more than I did. It was my mistake.

Anyway, we at the Radiant team are working practically round-the-clock to get you your stuff as fast as possible. We ask for your patience and your forgiveness for our shortcomings.

Thank you and God bless you,

-Pitch Black Records: Armageddon Rev.16:16 Join Our Roster!

Pitch Black Records is extremely proud and honored to announce the addition of Armageddon Rev.16:16 to its artist roster and the release of their album, SUNDOWN ON HUMANITY, on March 11, 2014.

Armageddon Rev.16:16 (aka Armageddon) is the longest living and most respected Cypriot metal band. The scene veterans were formed in 1985 and have kept active since then, mainly with their continuous live presence as well as their demo and EP releases. Of course their renowned 1993 s/t 12″ EP needs no introduction as it is now considered a truly hard-to-find, major collector’s item internationally.

SUNDOWN ON HUMANITY is actually the band’s first full-length album after all these years, making this album an even more highly anticipated release! The band’s style remains true to its original beginnings of melodic classic heavy metal with some power and progressive elements fused in their style.

The album lineup sees original members Jimmy Mavrommatis on vocals, Kikis A. Apostolou on lead guitar, and Elias A. Andreou on rhythm guitars, joined by accomplished musicians Nikolas Papaeftychiou on bass and Kerry Elgar on drums (replaced recently by Evangelos Varnava).

SUNDOWN ON HUMANITY includes guest appearances by Bob Katsionis (Firewind) on keyboards and guitar, and Nicholas Leptos (Arrayan Path, Warlord), Tasos Karonias (R.U.S.T.) and Andreas Paraschos (Blynd) on vocals. Bob Katsionis also mixed and mastered the album at his own Sound Symmetry Studio in Athens, Greece.

Featuring 12 tracks, SUNDOWN ON HUMANITY clocks in at just over 58 minutes! Special mention should be made to the closing track of the album, “Icy Blackness (Kursk),” a tribute to the crew of the Russian submarine “Kursk” that perished in the summer of 2000. This song includes yet another guest appearance, that of Petros Leptos (Solitary Sabred), who lends his voice to create a haunting spoken intro.

The full track listing is as follows:

1. E.K. 40 (Intro)
2. Human Sundown
3. Shades Of Tomorrow
4. Strange Dreams
5. Fallen Angels And Lost Souls
6. Hypocrites Of Destruction
7. New Day Will Come
8. 13-Seventh Eleven
9. Why
10. Heavy Metal
11. United
12. Icy Blackness (Kursk)

The album will be available worldwide on CD and digital through Pitch Black Records and its distribution partners. A song taken off the album is now available for free download and streaming at http://www.pitchblackrecords.com/ .

-Calgary, Alberta’s Million Dollar Fix Announce Sophomore Album, PSYCHEDELEPHANT, Out March 11

“Looking like they stepped out of the sweet denim-and-bandana-wearing days of the late ’80s and early ’90s, these guys look and act the part of true rockers.”
– Indie403

It isn’t often that that a band was born the exact same way it was meant to exist, but that’s precisely what happened the day Million Dollar Fix got together: In 2010, they started jamming at a party, riffs pouring out at the same speed of the delicious PBR pouring down their throats, and the end result was the ultimate riff-slinging rock and roll party band. Million Dollar Fix begin playing live shows as a three-piece and continued to do so for years before recording a hell of a self-released debut album, BILLYGOAT, in 2012. Their well-earned achievements grabbed the attention of western Canada and landed them live slots alongside Indian Handcrafts, Chron Goblin, Sandrider, Daywalker, Witchstone, High Kicks, and more.

In an era where stoner rock and doom metal are king, the band leans more toward the likes of Thin Lizzy than Black Sabbath and aligns themselves with more straight-up, no-fuss classic rock ‘n’ roll than any musical trend of the moment. No matter what, they aim to infiltrate any good times with their infectious, upbeat riffs. Armed with a new lead guitarist, Brad Weidlich, Logan Derby (guitar/vocals), Keegan Costella (bass/vocals) and Jeff Shibby Smith (drums) will go into the studio this winter and emerge on March 11 with a sophomore album, PSYCHEDELEPHANT, to blast away any cold-weather misery with riffs that drip with beer and a party-it-away attitude. That’s what rock ‘n’ roll was made for and that’s what Million Dollar Fix is here to do.

More on We Hunt Buffalo…
We Hunt Buffalo take guitar and synth sounds, seep them in a copious amount of fuzz, creating songs with hard-hitting stoner grooves and psychedelic overtones. It’s a culmination of years playing music together in a small Vancouver, BC suburb.

Their debut EP was released in 2010 and introduced a new band that in the words of the Georgia Straight, were “dedicated to tracking down and capturing the dying breed of rock and roll.” With a buzz around them in Vancouver, they crossed paths with Tanis Gibbons, an apprentice to Colin Steward at “The Hive” recording studio. 2011 would see them cut a full-length LP with Tanis, working through the nights at the Burnaby studio. The finished product was a re-working of the songs on their EP as well as some new tunes. This album lead to the band’s first vinyl release. Discorder Magazine expressed “the trio definitely bring their own individuality to the sound, in a genre that can get fairly muddy,” and “with bands like WHB around, it seems rock ‘n’ roll is just fine.” Fueled by more local acclaim, the band continued to play regularly around Vancouver, seeing a growing fan base with every show.

In 2012 they decided to enter in 99.3 The Fox’s annual SEEDS competition. Discouraged at first that their brand of rock wouldn’t fit on Vancouver radio, the band was floored when they had learned they were winners in the competition, placing top 3 among 400 entries. This lead to a spot at The Commodore Ballroom, supporting Monster Truck. The Commodore appearances didn’t stop there. They would go on to share the stage with Chevelle, Matt Mays, Danko Jones, and two nights with Steel Panther over New Year’S. Their song “The Search” started gaining airplay in Western Canada and sparked multiple tours of the region where they would play with the Pack A.D, Electric Six, and Nightseeker (Fubar’s Deaner).

We Hunt Buffalo continue to strive to play dirty, grimy rock and roll. They recently released a new EP, entitled BLOOD FROM A STONE; Exclaim! magazine comments on the title track: “…a fuzz-bomb riff that would make Tom Morello proud… Indeed this is a headbanger’s paradise.” In December 2013, the band was added as direct support to Monster Truck on their cross Canada tour. We Hunt Buffalo plan to expand their touring in the months to come. Look for them in your region in 2014.

We Hunt Buffalo is:
Ryan Forsythe – Vocals/Guitar
Brendan Simpson – Bass/Vocals
Brandon Carter – Drums/Vocals

-Beneath Reveals All Album Details!

Beneath has just announced that the title for their album will be ANTIDOTE and will be released on March 7, 2014!

Beneath is a Swedish Thrash Metal project formed by longtime friends, each playing in different bands, but always having the urge to make music together. They started the project in 1994, worked through the years on it (next to their own bands), and always had the goal in mind to release a Thrash Metal album the way they had in mind from the beginning.

Although Beneath is a one-album project, you never know what the future will bring. The experience to work together was for the musicians a great feeling and therefore the possibility to do this again is always there!

Beneath’s music can best be described as melodic and brutal. Beauty and beast. Acoustic and distorted. Singing and growling. Take the aggression of thrash metal and the melancholy of melodic metal, add some traditional songwriting and the furiosity of hard core and you get the picture.

The cover artwork for ANTIDOTE has also been revealed at http://ymlp.com/zv2tbs .

Track list:
1. Vengeance I Breathe [03:49]
2. Reasons Undefined [06:01]
3. Blissfully Numb [05:39]
4. Harvest Of Mankind [10:20]
5. Fear Vs. Hate [05:21]
6. In The Shadow Of The Beast [03:27]
7. Everything Ends [07:20]
8. Killed In The Womb [06:26]
9. The Antidote [12:21]

-The Socks: French Psychedelic Fuzz Rockers To Release Debut Full-Length Via Small Stone; New Video Now Playing

French psychedelic fuzz rockers, The Socks, recently joined the Small Stone Recordings family for the release of their self-titled debut full-length! Slated to drop this Spring, THE SOCKS was recorded and mixed by Raphaël Cartellier at Studio Cartellier, France, mastered by Christopher Goosman (Early Man, Sasquatch, Dixie Witch, Solace, et al) at Baseline Studio in Ann Arbor, Michigan and features nine tracks of road-tripping goodness where thick, glassy-eyed, jams swell into kaleidoscopic riff torrents, gristly vocal serenades and magnetic grooves.

Elaborates The Socks in a collective statement, “The sound and identity of the band have been shaped through the years to become this psychedelic hard rock, meant to be played live. We’ve recorded all together in a room with analog tapes to focus on the energy and to make it sound real and raw. Now it’s time to take it with us on the road and share it with everyone!”

THE SOCKS will be released via Small Stone Recordings on March 18, 2014. Further info, including preorder links, to be unveiled in the coming weeks. In the meantime, check out The Socks’ video for second track “Some Kind Of Sorcery” at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MYySxtECe3w .

THE SOCKS Track Listing:
1. Lords Of Illusion
2. Some Kind Of Sorcery
3. Next To The Light
4. New Kings
5. Holy Sons
6. Electric War
7. Gypsy Lady
8. We Live
9. The Last Dragon

Some bands simply sound like they were born to do it, and listening to the classic heavy rock groove of The Socks, there can be no doubt it’s what they’re made for. They’re naturals. The duel-guitar French foursome formed in Lyon in 2009 and began surprising audiences almost immediately, eventually settling down to pump out their debut EP the following year. 2010’s SIDE A offered up five well concentrated songs from a band still finding themselves. Inspired by the teachings of Sabbath and Zeppelin, The Socks supported the release by playing with an array of national and international acts, boasting intensely energetic gigs while continuing to develop their style. The next two years drove the band to write darker, heavier, songs that were more calculating and less frenetic. The resulting 2012 EP, BEDROCK, spouted a pseudo psychedelic, neo-grunge moodiness that proved captivating upon first listen.

The Soda Shop dubbed it “some pretty epic f*cking stoner rock,” while Church Of The Riff opined, “The entire EP shows that The Socks know how to write damn good songs. Everything sounds fleshed out and exciting, without ever getting repetitive or redundant… The riffs, vocal harmonies, tasteful solos and keyboard work show a band that knows exactly what they are doing.” The record eventually caught the ears of Small Stone Recordings. During the Fall of 2012, The Socks completed their first European tour. Drawing on experience garnered from festivals and gigs alongside Karma To Burn, Red Fang, Truckfighters, Horisont, Mars Red Sky, Black Rainbows, and many others with whom they share various elements while still maintaining a personality all their own, they were instant crowd pleasers. As the band continues to thrust themselves into Europe’s next generation of heavy rock ‘n’ roll beside acts like Abrahma, Deville, Asteroid, Isaak, Black Rainbows, and Mother Of God, Small Stone is pleased to bring their debut full-length to the masses this March.
