*** PRESS RELEASE #1 ***
-Manowar’s KINGS OF METAL MMXIV Album Will Be Released On February 28, 2014

[Note: This is from a Magic Circle Music newsletter. – Tim]

KINGS OF METAL MMXIV is a completely new recording with many surprises, celebrating the 25th anniversary of the release of KINGS OF METAL and Manowar’s following world tour.

Already a significant force with international success since their debut album BATTLE HYMNS, the KINGS OF METAL release in 1988 and the following world tour in 1989 catapulted Manowar into a new sphere. Songs like “Heart Of Steel,” “Kings Of Metal,” “Hail And Kill,” and “Blood Of The Kings” became instant classics, celebrated since by metal fans all over the world.

For KINGS OF METAL MMXIV, Manowar have recorded these timeless metal anthems with new arrangements and their signature “larger than life” sound that sealed their place in heavy metal history.

“Our fans have made us the ‘Kings Of Metal,’ and with this tribute to one of their favorite albums, we honor them and thank them for their unparalleled support and loyalty!” said Manowar vocalist Eric Adams.

KINGS OF METAL MMXIV will feature nine main tracks packed with face-melting metal, plus nine bonus tracks with over 40 minutes of additional music.

“We have pushed man and machine to the maximum level to honor the original recordings that we all love, and to add new aspects and surprises that give this new album its own character,” said Manowar bassist and producer Joey DeMaio. “The sound is again as massive and majestic as it has always been,” he continued.

“Recording this album has been an amazing experience! After playing the songs so many times on tour, Donnie and I now had the opportunity to contribute our own sound and elements that the fans have come to love from our live performances,” explained guitarist Karl Logan.

For the new narration on the spoken word track “The Warrior’s Prayer MMXIV,” Manowar have joined forces with celebrated British actor Brian Blessed. Blessed is a renowned Shakespeare and character actor who has starred, among others, in Kenneth Brannagh’s “Henry V,” Oliver Stone’s “Alexander,” in “King Lear,” and as Prince Vultan in the cult movie “Flash Gordon.” Not only an actor and adventurer, Blessed was also awarded the “Spirit Of Hammer Award” from Metal Hammer UK for his contributions to heavy metal.

For special effects of the highest level on “The Warrior’s Prayer MMXIV,” sound effects specialist Hamilton Sterling was recruited; a Hollywood Veteran who has contributed to action blockbusters including “Batman – The Dark Knight,” “Men In Black 3,” “War Of The Worlds,” and “Master And Commander: The Far Side Of The World,” two of which won Oscars for Best Sound Editing.

KINGS OF METAL MMXIV will be released in retail on February 28, 2014 as a two-disc CD with two 24-page booklets and additional new art by legendary fantasy artist and longtime collaborator Ken Kelly, and as a digital double album.

For the special anniversary, Manowar will also open their vaults and reveal never-before-seen photos and other insights into the history of Manowar and the KINGS OF METAL era.

The release of the KINGS OF METAL MMXIV album will be followed by the Kings Of Metal MMXIV world tour, featuring the complete new album and many other classics in a completely new stage production, and will see Manowar return to strongholds such as Germany and Finland but also to new territories, never before visited by Manowar, including Israel and Poland.

-CrashDiet Nominated For Grammy Award For THE SAVAGE PLAYGROUND; Second Nomination For The Glamsters

STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN — Gain/Sony Music Recording Artists CrashDiet have solidified themselves as Sweden’s premiere glam metal outfit by being nominated for a Swedish Grammy for their fourth album, THE SAVAGE PLAYGROUND, which was released earlier in 2013.

Produced and recorded by Otto Wellton at Kingside Studios, THE SAVAGE PLAYGROUND slammed into the Swedish national charts, peaking at #2 on the strength of the album’s first single, “Cocaine Cowboys.” “It’s a fantastic feeling when you reach that high on the chart,” says CrashDiet guitarist, Martin Sweet. “It only confirms that our fan base is growing every year and we’re tremendously thankful for that!”

2013 was the busiest year of the band’s career to date, with extreme highs and lows in spades. “2013 is a year we will never forget,” reflects Sweet. “It’s probably the year that made the biggest impact on us as persons. We had some great highs and horrible lows — our manager’s passing — which will definitely change the way we look at things forever. The passing of Michael Sunden, is, of course, heartbreaking. He will remembered as the guy who took us to America for the first time. A true visionary.”

With the Grammy nomination, the band ends the year on a huge note. “This is our second Grammy nomination and, we’re surprised, as always, and, of course, very honored to be a part of this old tradition. Win or lose, we’re happy either way. We do what we do,” wraps up Sweet.

The 45th Annual Swedish Grammy Awards (“Grammis”) will take place on 19 February 2014 in Stockholm, Sweden.

-Black Cobra Confirms Early January Double-Coast Live Strike; Band To Storm Brooklyn & San Francisco Back-To-Back

In a random announcement this week, the tonally decimating San Francisco-based gruesome twosome known as Black Cobra has announced a cross-country invasion just days after the start of the New Year.

On Friday, January 3rd the serpent will uncoil at an exclusive one-off East Coast rager as the band once again destroys Saint Vitus Bar in Brooklyn with several local support acts unreleased at press time.

Immediately after once again raging in Brooklyn, Black Cobra immediately takes off on their way back to their home turf, set to perform the following night at a benefit show for well-known rock/metal poster artist Alan Forbes (The Black Crowes, The Misfits, Black Cobra’s CHRONOMEGA LP, etc.). In October, Forbes was attacked in the Lower Haight neighborhood of San Francisco, which left him with two skull fractures and damage to his right eye. As the artist is uninsured, alongside millions of Americans, several benefit actions have been formed to aid in covering his growing medical expenses, including this event on January 4th where Black Cobra will headline with support from Lecherous Gaze, Pins Of Light, and Kicker.

Black Cobra is currently constructing new material; additional news on the band’s plans for 2014 will be announced in the coming weeks.

Black Cobra Live:
1/03/2014 Saint Vitus Bar – Brooklyn, NY
1/04/2014 Bottom of the Hill – San Francisco, CA @ Alan Forbes Benefit w/ Lecherous Gaze, Pins Of Light, Kicker
