-International Powerhouse Rock Group W.E.T.’s Brand New Video “Learn To Live Again” Has Exclusive Worldwide Premiere On Noisecreep

New Album RISE UP Due Out Later In February Via Frontiers Records

Hard Rock lovers worldwide can click here to witness the Worldwide Premiere of the video for international powerhouse Rock group W.E.T.’s brand new track, “Learn To Live Again”:

The video was shot on location last month in an industrial barn outside Stockholm, Sweden under bone-chilling weather conditions. “Learn To Live Again” is taken from W.E.T.’s forthcoming album, RISE UP, due out in Europe on February 22 and North America on February 26 via Frontiers Records. The album is already receiving early critical praise, with Sweden’s Hallowed declaring, “…this is the best ever melodic rock or AOR album,” while the UK’s Planet Mosh avowed that W.E.T. are “at the top of their game and raising the standards for others…” Click http://www.frontiers.it/download/WETrise%20upCOVER.jpg to download cover art for RISE UP.

W.E.T. is the union (and corresponding acronym) of some of the world’s most accomplished musicians. W.E.T. is Robert Säll (“W” = the keyboardist/guitarist from Swedish melodic rockers Work Of Art), Erik Mårtensson (“E” = from Swedish hard rockers Eclipse; Mårtensson plays guitars, bass, keyboards and lead vocals) and Jeff Scott Soto (“T” = from Talisman, the highly-celebrated American vocalist, also known for his work with Yngwie Malmsteen, Trans-Siberian Orchestra and Journey), along with members Magnus Henriksson (guitars) and Robban Bäck (drums), also from Eclipse. W.E.T.’s self-titled debut album in 2009 was one of the rare occasions when a band created by the vision of Frontiers Records President/Founder Serafino Perugino managed to create such a wave of enthusiasm and interest from fans and the media alike that it went beyond the band’s own expectations.

In the meanwhile the band’s latest video “Hard To Say Goodbye” is officially in rotation on MTV.com. The song is also #8 on the Classic Rock Radio media charts. This is indeed a major milestone for the band!

“When I assembled this band in 1979 that eventually became Great White in 1982, to have it still be around 30 years later is a complete blessing,” guitarist Mark Kendall said. “The music and fans is what keeps us rocking. From ON YOUR KNEES to ELATION the music has been for the fans. We decided to celebrate by taking it back where it all started for us, and that is on The Sunset Strip in Hollywood, California. Being a big part of our history, The Key Club in Hollywood, California, was the perfect venue to record this live album and celebrate our 30 years of making music together.” Drummer Audie Desbrow added: “A big thank you to all the fans, past present, and future, we could have never done it without you!”

-Covered Call To Release IMPACT March 28 On AOR Heaven

Covered Call: An expression used in financial circles depicting a picture of Wall Street, big cities, and the frenzy of the stock market. Covered Call the band, however, was born in a small carpentry shed in the dark, deep forests of Sweden. The contrast couldn’t be greater between the band and their name.

Covered Call was formed by drummer Ronny Svanströmer and guitarist Joel Carlsson. Subsequently, second guitarist Morgan Rosenquist joined the band and the material rapidly started taking shape.

The band immediately landed a deal and released their debut album MONEY NEVER SLEEPS internationally in 2009. During the recording sessions for the band’s second album bassist Andy Loos (ex Glory, Lion’s Share) was recruited as a full member in the lineup.

Andy had previously been working with Göran Edman (ex John Norum Band, Yngwie Malmsteen), who was soon after recruited to complete this stellar lineup.

The new album, entitled IMPACT, was recorded by Covered Call along with Studio Fredman (Arch Enemy, HammerFall, Dimmu Borgir, In Flames) and was mixed by Lars Chriss of Lion’s Share (who also performed a guest solo on the track “Hold On”) at LS Studio.

The band has left their suits behind and is ready to deliver unforgettable rock music in the true AOR spirit!

This new musical constellation together with vocalist Göran Edman now sound stronger than ever and with fantastic new material Covered Call will prove, once again, that their brand of hook-layered rock is a force to be reckoned with.

-Code Of Silence DARK SKIES OVER BABYLON Track-By-Track Video Posted Online

British melodic metallers Code Of Silence — who are fronted by Brazilian vocalist Gus Monsanto (Revolution Renaissance, Adagio, Symbolica, Lord Of Mushrooms) posted a track-by-track album breakdown video provided by band leader and bassist James Murray who also supplied the debut album’s historical theme of the Knights Templar at the time of the Crusades. The video can be viewed here:

James says: “Although the album is thematic each song can be enjoyed in its own right separately away from any concept.”

Code Of Silence recently released their debut video “Sky Is Falling Down” — which has gained in excess of 15,000 views since posting — and an informative EPK introducing the band:

“Sky Is Falling Down”

“Taken in the round, this is a fabulous rock album. As a debut album it’s simply stunning.” Get Ready to ROCK!

A guitarist who wants to go to Japan, a drummer who thinks political leaders should settle arguments over a few beers, and a Brazilian who likes Scottish breakfasts. These are some of the fascinating facts you will glean from Code Of Silence’s newly launched website — http://www.codeofsilence.co.uk/ .

The album — DARK SKIES OVER BABYLON — has been written and produced by Paul Logue (Eden’s Curse) and mixed by Alessandro Del Vecchio (Eden’s Curse, Hardline, Lionville). Stylistically it covers a range of genres from hard rock to progressive, fused with highly melodic metal.

The band includes seasoned vocalist Gus Monsanto, who has worked with Stratovarius vocalist Timo Tolkki (Revolution Renaissance) and Adagio, and guitarist Ben Randall who for a time was with Power Quest. Scott McLean on keys (Concept Of Time and Falloch) and John Clelland on drums (The Jack) complete the lineup.

The album is released in Europe on 25 February and in North America on 9 April via Mausoleum Records. It was released in Japan via Rubicon Music on 23 January. There is a limited pre-order offer before release date at the band’s website.

9. The One (5:51)
10. Believe (6:12)

Melodic metal with great attitude from Sweden. Vocalist Ola Halén, former Insania Sweden, is fronting this power unit. Style-wise you can compare Shadows Past with Symphony X, Kamelot and Helloween.

Shadows Past was formed in 2005 by singer Ola Halén and guitarist Jonatan Berg. It happened that Ola had a Tony MacAlpine tape running in his car when giving Jonatan a ride from the music school where Ola worked and Jonatan studied, and they discovered their similar taste in music. Prior to that, the name Shadows Past had been used by Ola for some of his solo projects on the side of Insania — the band for which he had been the singer and front man since 2002. The band saw various members come and go during the first few years. Among them drummer Johnny Sandin (who eventually had to focus solely on his other band Seventh Wonder) and bass player Niklas “Nille” Sandin, now in Katatonia.

Several demo recordings were made during these first years, with the first official one being released in 2009, containing the songs “Perfect Chapter,” “Cry No More” and “Who Am I.” By this time multi-instrumentalist Staffan Lindroth had joined the band on keyboards, soon to be joined by his brother Olle Lindroth on drums, who fittingly returned to Sweden from living in Spain when the need for a permanent drummer arose. To further solidify the musical foundation, one more change in lineup was made and Patrik Berg, Jonatan’s brother (and a talented musician) was brought in on bass, thus making it two pairs of brothers in the band.

Shadows Past had continuously been playing live, mostly throughout the Stockholm club scene and continued to do so during 2009 when the band also took part in the pan-European music contest “Emergenza” which culminated in a final performance at the final show at Debaser Medis in Stockholm. In 2009 new songs were also written and rehearsed and pre-production and recordings for the debut album could begin in 2010. The process of finishing the album was delayed by the decision to scrap some of the studio recordings for technical reasons, but in late 2011 everything was finally on tape (or disk rather) and the task to mix, master and set the sound of the debut could be delegated. For this job Erik Mårtensson (Eclipse, W.E.T., Seventh Wonder etc.) was chosen and during the spring of 2012 the album was finalized.

Later in 2012 Christian Liljegren and Doolittle Group got to hear the album and decided to invite Shadows Past into their roster of bands.

Style-wise, Shadows Past have always had a strong foundation in melodic metal. The emphasis never strays from strong melodies, put in a framework of heavy riffing and musically intriguing details. Comparisons to bands like Helloween, Stratovarius and Symphony X have been made, but there is no denying that Shadows Past have a powerful voice of their own that will carry on to be heard, both on and off the stages of the world.

Ola Halén – Vocals
Jonatan Berg – Guitar
Patrik Berg – Bass
Olle Lindroth – Drums
Staffan Lindroth – Keyboards

Bombastic, true sound, with real strings for fans of Evanescence, Nightwish, Within Temptation.

My Endless Wishes was created in 2005 by Frida and Martin Viberg, married since 2006. Musical influences have always been melodic metal, bands such as Evanescence, Nightwish, Within Temptation, etc. Joined by some local musicians they entered a studio in 2008, and recorded and produced a demo named NEVER WALK ALONE, which contained nine tracks, and was released in 2009. The song titled “Never Walk Alone” was also released on MySpace and got so much attention that it was released on a CD compilation named ULTRA POP OVERDOSE in the USA.

At this time the only permanent members where Frida and Martin, My Endless Wishes did not have a solid foundation and were struggling to create that unique sound. The band played a lot of gigs during the summer of 2008, among those a Ukraine mini-tour, which was the result of an earlier Ukraine gig from 2006.

In 2009, two more permanent members enters the band, Magnus Källström on bass, and Fredrik Pernros on guitar, both with a shared vision about the wanted sound, and a long background in the Hard Rock/Metal scene, but something was missing. There had been several drummers in the band through the years, and this slowed the progress down, but when Erik Ekestubbe auditioned, late in 2009, it was absolutely clear that the band was now complete, and the goal to take the sound to a higher level came within reach. Late 2011, the sound was bigger, heavier and more distinct — the seed that would grow to the band’s breakthrough and the co-operation with DOT Music AB and Doolittle Group, where they got in touch with Frippe Eliasson, Niclas Eliasson, and Christian Liljegren (known from Narnia, Golden Resurrection).

After the deal was signed in February 2012. My Endless Wishes entered the studio during autumn and winter 2012 to record the self-titled debut album. The album is recorded at Production House Studio, Örebro, produced by Fredrik Eliasson. The sound is really bombastic hard rock with an edge. Real strings are also used on the album and creates a great atmosphere!

My Endless Wishes is all about delivering a positive message, and doing so with a great sound!

Frida Viberg – Vocals
Martin Viberg – Guitars
Magnus Källström – Bass
Fredrik Pernros – Guitars
Erik Ekestubbe – Drums

-Frontiers Records Signs State Of Salazar

Frontiers Records is pleased to announce the signing of the Swedish Melodic Rock newcomers State Of Salazar. The band was formed in 2010 by five students from the Malmö Academy of Music who wanted to play rock music made for the big arenas. The band’s singer and songwriter, Marcus Nygren, began thinking of the concept of having a band like State Of Salazar in 2009 when he wrote a couple of songs that did not fit his metal based band 8-Point Rose.

State Of Salazar released their debut EP LOST MY WAY in the summer of 2012, it spread fast in magazines and blogs and created a flood of praise. The Swedish quintet has received a lot of positive critique from all over the world during a very short period of time. “This is something that can grow really big;” “…State Of Salazar will undoubtedly be one of the highlights of the genre;” “…this EP is an extremely polished piece of art…;” “The performances and the production are superb…,” and so on. Considering bands such as Toto, Queen, Journey, Survivor and especially Bill Conti and Vince DiCola have influenced them, State Of Salazar have a lot to prove. But they handle all this pressure with their honor intact and their heads held high.

“I think this is an amazing opportunity for us in State Of Salazar and I can’t think of a better record company for us to sign with. I remember when Marcus and I had conversations about the band’s future a couple of years ago and that we thought that Frontiers would really be a great place to wind up,” says guitar player Johan Thuresson, while singer Marcus Nygren adds: “To be able to release our first full-length album with Frontiers is simply a dream coming true. I can’t wait for you all to hear these great new songs we’re working on. You don’t want to miss this one when it hits the stores!”

One of the bonus tracks from the EP, “I Believe In You,” will be re-recorded from scratch and also included in the debut album, which has a working title of ALL THE WAY. You can check the original version on the YouTube clip at http://youtu.be/0eVxt0yxGeI or tune in on the Frontiers webradio at http://www.frontiers.it/webradio to start enjoying the music from these amazingly talented guys.

There is no mistaking that State Of Salazar delivers “feel good” music, and it is no wonder, since one of the biggest influences is “training montage” music from the “Rocky IV” movie. This is just one of many reasons why they actually stand out from many of the other bands in the same genre. State Of Salazar is not a retro band, or a walk down memory lane. They write songs and play music that strives forward and not backwards. Their songwriting, arranging and instrumental performance show that this is a band that wants to develop and contribute to the Melodic Rock genre.

State Of Salazar’s debut album is scheduled to be released later this year — look out for a another winner in the amazing Frontiers Records roster of bands!

It will be possible to follow progress on the album’s recording via the band’s websites:

Opposing Motion is comprised of Ludovic Desa (vocals), Joe McGurk (guitars), David Deplanche (bass) and Kevin Deplanche (drums) and their sound is reminiscent of iconic bands such as Royal Hunt, Seventh Wonder, Fates Warning, Symphony X, Crimson Glory and also newer power/prog bands a la Circus Maximus, Pagan’s Mind, Above Symmetry.

With the release of a self-released debut EP recorded at the famous Robannas Studios in Birmingham 2010, Opposing Motion has rapidly become known in the prog metal genre at the national and international levels. Composed of experienced musicians, all active on the UK and France session scene, the band weaves highly melodic and orchestral tapestries mixing technical pieces, intricate musicianship and offering a fresh outlook on the prog genre bringing together flamenco, classic rock, NWOBHM and progressive rock influences.

With several top-tier high street magazine features and numerous excellent reviews on the international metal scene, THE ILLUSTRATION EP (2010) set the foundations for their eagerly awaited full-length debut album.

2012 saw the band record its first debut album entitled LAWS OF MOTION, and Opposing Motion has now teamed up with prog metal specialists and recognized label Lion Music to bring its music to the scene on 11th May 2013.

Full details on LAWS OF MOTION to follow shortly.

19 April 2013 Releases Announced

We can now confirm that our 19 April releases are:

Mastercastle – ON FIRE

ON FIRE is the smoldering new album from Mastercastle, and is home to nine tracks of melodic heavy metal with neo-classical influences from a band that has rapidly forged a glowing reputation thanks to its previous three releases. This forthcoming release also marks the recording debut of new member, drum legend John Macaluso (Ark, Malmsteen, James LaBrie).

Following on from the recent success of INHERITANCE, the latest release from Italian progressive metal outfit Ashent, Lion Music are pleased to offer up a timely reissue of the band’s long out-of-print 2006 debut album FLAWS OF ELATION. In addition this new print comes with all-new artwork and the additional bonus of the band’s very first ultra-rare 2003 four-track demo!

Lion Music Sign Anton Johansson’s Galahad Suite

Lion Music are proud to announce the addition of Anton Johansson’s Galahad Suite to the label’s roster for the release of the epic GALAHAD SUITE.

With a sound that runs across progressive rock/metal, melodic and hard rock grounds with equal measure, Anton Johansson’s Galahad Suite is the result of an idea that has been in the head of former Mister Kite member Anton Johansson for almost 30 years and features an array of talented musicians including Linus Abrahamson (guitar and bass), Carl Lindquist (vocals), Mats Bergentz (Drums), Sebastian Berglund (Keyboards), Anna Forsvall Lundmark (Cello) and backing vocal by Evelina Andersson, Ellen Abrahamson and Mikael Cederhag.

The album also boasts notable guest performances by guitarists Mattias IA Eklundh (Freak Kitchen, Freak Guitar), Magnus Karlsson (Primal Fear, Allen/Lande, Starbreaker), Jonas Hansson (Silver Mountain), Dennis Post (Star*Rats) and Magnus Kristensson (Mister Kite, Planet); along with keyboards by Lalle Larsson (Karmakanic, Agents Of Mercy, Electrocution 250) and additional vocals by Alf Wemmenlind (Mister Kite, Fifty Grand Suicide).

Project mastermind Anton Johansson, born 1960, started playing piano when he was nine years old, guitar at 12 and bass at the age 15. Like everybody else he nursed the dream of becoming a rock star and played in lots of local bands. In the mid ’90s he founded Lion Music act Mister Kite with whom who he recorded and toured with supporting acts like Bruce Dickinson, Dio and Saga. In 2007 he joined forces with Linus Abrahamson (Andromeda, The Codex) to finish the long-time coming project The Galahad Suite.

-Total Metal Festival 2013: New Location!

The most important Heavy Metal Festival in southern Italy moves and enlarges!

The organizers of the Total Metal Open Air Festival announce a new location! The Italian festival, already announced for Saturday July 13, moves to the town of Bitonto, always in the province of Bari to an impressive and huge new outdoor location.

The manager of the TMF Luigi Pisanello says: “Although at first we had confirmed the location of the last edition, for a variety of good reasons this year we had to opt for a change and, in all likelihood, this time it could be the ‘definitive’ one because the way it is structured leaves many possibilities for expansion and development of the festival for future editions.”

In fact the new location not only is wider than the last one, but also offers the possibility to improve some logistics aspects. There will be several news in fact, among these: a wider and organized car park, a camping within the Festival place and an area dedicated to bikers. Of course not even the innovations already included in the last edition will be missed, as the Soft Air area and the medieval village where everybody can engage in historical fencing, archery and crossbow and many other activities.

Everybody is still waiting for the most important news — who will be the “special guest” of this year edition — but the organizers promise that the wait will be short because the Headliner band of TMF2013 will soon be announced!

To stay updated about the Total Metal Festival, connect with its official Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/TotalMetalFestival or visit the official website http://www.totalmetalfestival.com/ where you can also find many interesting photos of previous editions.

-Orange Goblin To Release First Live Set

Orange Goblin
Candlelight Records
Release: 12 March 2013

Track List:
1. Red Tide Rising
2. The Filthy & The Few
3. Ballad Of Solomon Eagle
4. Time Travelling Blues
5. Some You Win, Some You Lose
6. The Fog
7. Round Up The Horses
8. Acid Trial
9. They Come Back
10. Blue Snow
11. Quincy The Pigboy
12. Scorpionica

Candlelight Records today confirms March 12 as the North American release date for A EULOGY FOR THE FANS… ORANGE GOBLIN LIVE 2012. The CD/DVD is the first proper live recording from Orange Goblin and will be released in tandem with the band’s first full stateside tour in over eight years. The special recording kicks off a planned year of non-stop touring and continues the success found in 2012 in which the band appeared/topped countless “Best Of” magazine and fan generated polls.

A EULOGY FOR THE FANS… ORANGE GOBLIN LIVE 2012 includes Orange Goblin’s complete performances professionally recorded at Bloodstock Open Air Festival (England – August 11, 2012) and Hellfest (France – June 15, 2012). The DVD further includes the official Tom Cronin directed videos for “Red Tide Rising” and “Acid Trial,” the latter courtesy of Scion A/V, plus the Matt Chance directed “Red Tide Rising Documentary” and Gaetan Chataigner directed “Highway To Hellfest Documentary.” Art and design was once again provided by Jimbob Isaac under the direction of vocalist Ben Ward.

Discussing the album, Ward says, “for years people have been asking us to release a live album. It’s a warts and all recording to highlight exactly what you get at an Orange Goblin show. It’s not over-produced; you can hear the bum notes and the forgotten lyrics as well as the energy and power emanating from the stage. And the crowd! I think that’s what a good live album is all about. It’s just the sound of us getting up on stage, plugging in and going hell for leather. Crack open a beer, turn it up loud and bang your head.”

England’s Classic Rock Magazine says, “put simply, Orange Goblin are the best metal band in Britain.” A permanent fixture on the metal landscape since their formation in 1995, Orange Goblin recordings have been embraced by fans the world over. Their live performances have been hailed as one of the best. Kerrang! says, “Orange Goblin shows are very predictable… you know they are going to be brilliant before they even hit the stage.” Orange Goblin signed to Candlelight Records late 2008 and immediately began writing new material for the first time in over five years. Teaming with producer Jamie Dodd and two-time Grammy-nominated engineer Andy Jackson (Pink Floyd), the band completed recording of A EULOGY FOR THE DAMNED late September 2011. The record was released February 14, 2012 entering the UK Top 200 at 96 and landed on Billboard’s Heat Seekers chart at 38. The album hit the top of CMJ’s Loud Rock album chart on March 7 and ended the year at position 6 on the Top 50 Year-End Album chart. Decibel Magazine called the album, “maximum riffage, turbo-doom biker rock… awesome!” Hellbound proclaimed, “this dish is one spicy meatball.” Popdose confirmed, “possibly the best record from start to finish that they have released yet.”

A EULOGY FOR THE FANS… ORANGE GOBLIN LIVE 2012 features songs that span the band’s extensive repertoire including fan favorites “Stand For Something,” “Scorpionica,” “Quincy The Pigboy,” “Blue Snow,” “Time Travelling Blues,” and the album’s single “The Filthy & The Few” which is set to impact loud rock radio on February 26.

-Just In Time For Valentine’s Day: Player’s New Video “I Will” Has Exclusive Worldwide Premiere On Ultimate Classic Rock Today

TOO MANY REASONS Due Out In February Via Frontiers Records

Just in time for Valentine’s Day, Player fans worldwide can click here to check out the exclusive worldwide premiere of the video for the romantic track “I Will.”

The song is taken from Player’s forthcoming set, TOO MANY REASONS; the album is due out on February 22 in Europe and February 26 in North America via Frontiers Records. TOO MANY REASONS is Player’s first album in nearly 20 years and is written and produced by Peter Beckett. To pre-order TOO MANY REASONS, please click http://bit.ly/ULnbih (for North America) or http://www.frontiers.it/album/5113/ (for Europe).

Player was formed in 1977 when Englishman Peter Beckett met J.C. Crowley at a Hollywood party. Beckett had come to the United States after the demise of his popular English band Paladin. The band was completed by Ronn Moss and John Friesen and the four became the founding members. After many rehearsals and songwriting sessions, Player was born. In 1978, the band had an international number one hit with first single “Baby Come Back,” which was co-written by Beckett and J.C. Crowley and sung by Beckett. The first album entitled simply PLAYER went platinum and the band toured extensively, including support stints with Boz Scaggs, Eric Clapton, Heart and Kenny Loggins, consistently playing to sold out arena audiences. Four albums followed spawning four more hit singles, including “This Time I’m In It For Love,” which reached number eleven on Billboard’s chart. Player “redux” consists of founding members Peter Beckett (guitars/lead vocals/keyboards) and Ronn Moss (bass/lead vocals).

Peter Beckett has written hit songs for such artists as Heart, Olivia Newton-John, Kenny Rogers, The Temptations, Poco, Janet Jackson, The Commodores, Cliff Richards, Survivor, Grace Slick, and most recently Vanessa Hudgens. He has numerous movie credits as artist, producer and/or writer, including “The Karate Kid,” “Two Of A Kind,” “Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure,” “Major League,” “St. Elmo’s Fire” (Grammy nomination), “Frankie And Johnny,” “Rock Star,” “Terminator 3,” “Basic Instinct,” “Beyond Borders,” “Life Or Something Like It,” “Dirty Dancing 2,” and “Transformers.” From 1989-1997, Peter was a featured member of Little River Band and has written several singles for them.

Since the mid ’80s, Ronn Moss has also gained worldwide stardom with his other career: 25 years as Ridge Forrester, the male lead in the CBS television series “The Bold And The Beautiful,” a role from which Moss recently elected to depart to allow him time to devote to Player and other film and TV roles. “B&B” consistently ranked as the most-watched television series in the world, averaging more than 26 million viewers per day, and garnered more than 500,000 Twitter followers for Moss. He has also appeared in numerous feature films and television commercials, and took second place on the Italian version of “Dancing With The Stars.”

About Raven Black Night:
It was late 1999 when Jim Petkoff, The White Knight (guitar/vox), and Rino Amoriono, The Raven (guitar), met over a cold beer in Adelaide, South Australia: the city of churches and where AC/DC found Bon Scott. This would mark the beginning of Raven Black Night’s campaign to bring their traditional metal sound to a worldwide audience.

After deciding to form a doom/heavy metal band, they enlisted Matt Spencer The Black Knight (bass), and Jeremy The Godfather on drums. They began building a formidable live reputation, with a style of metal that appealed to many varieties of metal heads in their home town. With their stage adorned with swords, shields, and candles, they spent 2003-2006 criss-crossing Australia, performing at various metal festivals and underground clubs. Drummer Joe Toscano was brought into the band and their first album, CHOOSE THE DARK, was recorded and released in 2005.

CHOOSE THE DARK garnered praise throughout Australia and Europe culminating into an invitation in 2007 to perform at the 10th annual Headbangers Open Air in Germany, where they band performed with Candlemass, Rage, and many others.

Several years of touring and festival appearances were to follow: Hard and Heavy summer nights, the Hamburg Ballroom, and more dates throughout Australia. In 2011 Jim, Rino with Chris on bass enlisted Matt Enright to record new material for their long awaited follow-up CD.

Jim and Rino are prepared to take the Raven Black Night sound of true metal/doom rock to a global audience. A new partnership with Metal Blade Records and a new album will firmly place Raven Black Night on the world map of true heavy metal.

This leads into this new album BLACK HAPPY, the title an absolute indication to the atmospheres Conny Ochs is able to create. Deeply rooted in the blackened parts of the human soul he carves a mixture of melancholy and catharsis into the rough edges of songs that come out so natural, so organic and sonically sparkling. While keeping his approach pure to the heart and the creation limited to just him and his guitar Ochs reaches a stark authenticity that can only be worshipped. It draws you in, makes you a part of the music and leads to a deep admiration of the tunes, the pain and beauty relatable to everybody who hears them.

Bound to a tradition and history of great acoustic craftsmanship drawn from but not limited to the American continent, Conny explores the realms of what of your inner self can sonically portray once you are on your own and armed with a guitar and voice. The path has been walked by many before, but that doesn’t make it a worn-out road.

Just like his previous solo album RAW LOVE SONGS and the HEAVY KINGDOM album with Wino, BLACK HAPPY was engineered, mixed and mastered by Thommy Krawallo in Berlin in pure analog fashion. The album is set for official release in Germany on March 1st, throughout the rest of Europe on March 4th, and in North America on April 2nd, on LP, via digital download, and limited wooden box CD. Preorders are available at http://www.mainstreamrecords.de/news/conozzpreorder .

Conny Ochs is currently embarked on a European tour in advance of the album’s release, with many more live excursions to be confirmed in the coming weeks. View the current list of dates at http://connyochs.com/cms/website.php?id=/live.htm .

Following a solid year of relentless stage pollution, Toxic Holocaust will enter the studio later this Winter to record the as-yet-untitled follow-up to their 2011 CONJURE AND COMMAND full-length.

“After taking a much-needed break from touring and finally being able to enjoy life outside the confines of a van,” details band mastermind Joel Grind, “things have come back in full swing and I’ve been working nonstop writing the new Toxic record for Relapse Records. Things are coming along great it’s a bit too early to tell for sure but it seems like this record will encompass all of Toxic’s past recordings while building on that as well and moving forward. I can’t wait to get into the studio to record this!”

Praised for its “nuclear reactive riffage and Repo Man punk attitude,” by Revolver and commended for its “tar-thick riffage, staggering breakdowns, and a corroded dose of self-loathing,” by The Onion’s A.V. Club, CONJURE AND COMMAND continues to reap hails from fans and critics globally. As an added bonus, the band closed the year with the honor of having the song “Bitch” rear its sonic apocalyptic menace in an episode of high-rated FX drama series “Sons Of Anarchy” (season 5; episode 11).

Toxic Holocaust mutated into existence in 1999, when Joel Grind merged his love for classic punk and metal and the flash of L.A. hard rock into his ideal band. Like his influences — Bathory, Venom, English Dogs, Possessed, Broken Bones — Toxic Holocaust offers up blazing riffs, gravel-throated vocals, and a deadly fixation on the evil in man and a post-apocalyptic world wrapped in a DIY attitude.

“If The Exploited and Nuclear Assault had a kid, Toxic Holocaust would take its lunch money and toss it in the dumpster.” – Hails & Horns

-Barbarian Twins Release HOUSE OF ILL FAME

Please find below the text press info for the group’s brand new album HOUSE OF ILL FAME!

Label: Rapid Records
Genre: Rock

Norwegian rockers Barbarian Twins started up in 2005 as a trio. The band soon made its mark in the US, with the single “44,” winning the American music contest “Make A Star” the same year. In the early days, Barbarian Twins made an impact on the underground scene in Oslo with a different show. Their opening number was performed behind a curtain, where the band was soundtracking a car chase from the projected film, “Bullitt,” with their own instrumental “Backstreet Stalker.” The band’s sound gradually developed from cinematic, funky ’70s rock to a more black music-based rock ‘n’ roll, where the band kept its unique sound, whether the song was a blues, a funky tune or a straight rock ‘n’ roll number.

To this day, the band’s influences are heavily drawn from the blues, soul, funk and Caribbean music, albeit dressed in a hard ’70s rock sound. Fans describe the music as “The inevitable encounter between Led Zeppelin and the Rolling Stones.” In 2008, the band signed with the American label D And M Records, releasing the very rootsy rock album WON’T BOW DOWN, that was received extremely well in Norway. The band toured in America shortly after the release in 2009, to stellar reviews. Performing a full live set during the tour, for a million listeners on the WLUW channel in Chicago, helped making a name in America. After the US tour, the band’s sound became harder and more rooted in rock ‘n’ roll. Adding a second guitar player, as well as a very vital Buddy Rich-esque drummer, helped in developing the new sound.

Barbarian Twins started recording their second album HOUSE OF ILL FAME in 2009 in Sunflower Recording Studios in Oslo, Norway. Due to the mentioned personnel changes, the band decided to scrap the finalized album, and chose to re-record it, as well as including a few new songs, to fit the soundscape of the new and bigger sound of the current lineup. In 2012, Barbarian Twins signed with the Norwegian label Rapid Records (well-known in Norway for its comet, Andrea Dahle), and collaborated with the label’s manager Henrik Moy Askildsen, who played on the album as well as co-produced it. In the middle of the recording process, “the Twins” were approached by American glam rockers L.A. Guns, asking if they would tour in Europe with them in February/March the same year.

The famous founder of both Guns N’ Roses and L.A. Guns, Tracii Guns, was impressed by the Norwegian band, stating that it was one of the most authentic rock ‘n’ roll acts he’d ever heard. He even came on stage playing on a rendition of Led Zeppelin’s “Whole Lotta Love” with them in Amsterdam. Barbarian Twins did 15 shows in Europe with L.A. Guns, rapidly growing their fan base in countries like Germany, UK, Holland, Poland, Austria and Switzerland. Going back to the studio in March 2012, to record HOUSE OF ILL FAME, the band was hot after touring, and put down eight tracks in a few weeks. Conceptually, the album is about being on the run, escaping and having trouble dealing with difficulties. The symbol of that destination is “the House Of Ill Fame.” The music spans from creepy gospel with a country flavor (the title track), via rough Texas blues with a sing-along chorus (“Can’t Hide Your Love”), hard, melodic rock (“Heads Or Tails,” “Free Your Mind”), haunting ballads (“Running From The Cold,” “Final Destination”) to long guitar jams (“So Sad You’re Gone,” “Getaway”).

Barbarian Twins will be touring Norway in May this year, with an entourage of four other bands from Norway and the United States. The show is called “The Rock Of Ill Fame Circus.” HOUSE OF ILL FAME and the single “Can’t Hide Your Love”/”Heads Or Tails” are out now.

Band: Unitopia
Label: InsideOut Music
Genre: Progressive Rock/New Art

Based in Adelaide, South Australia, Unitopia endeavors to draw from the heart and soul of the listener thought-provoking topics such as environmental awareness, political and social upheaval and the hectic pace of life and human relationships in a positive and uplifting light. Using progressive themes as a framework, Unitopia’s music includes elements of world, classical, jazz, heavy rock, and groove.

Mark Trueack (composer / lead vocals / producer), Sean Timms (composer / keyboards / backing vocals / producer) and Matt Williams (guitars / backing vocals / producer) form the nucleus of the band. To complete them, they chose the combined drum/percussion batteries of David Hopgood and Tim Irrgang, Craig Kelly on bass and Daniel Burgess (sax, clarinet, flute, piccolo, didgeridoo). They signed their first album deal in 2007 with Canadian Label Unicorn Digital and released MORE THAN A DREAM. In 2008, Unitopia signed a three-album deal with InsideOut Music, Germany. THE GARDEN, an ambitious 15-track double CD released in November 2008, firmly established the band as one of the premiere progressive rock acts in the world. In 2010, Unitopia released their third album, ARTIFICIAL. Based on the themes of artificial intelligence, this new CD consolidates Unitopia’s position as one of the most exciting progressive rock acts to emerge since the 1970s.

Progrock.com has chosen ARTIFICIAL as Best Album and “The Great Reward” as Best Track for their 2010 awards. ARTIFICIAL was proclaimed Album of the Year 2010 by AiiRadio.net, paperlate.nl and nominated by the international Jury of Progawards in Italy for Best Foreign Record and Best Production. Mark Trueack also won the honor of second best voice of 2010 on Classic Rock magazine. Their 2010 European tour brought them to the UK, The Netherlands, Germany and Belgium. The critics were unanimous; “Unitopia has been one of the best live acts on the Progressive Rock scene in the last few years.” They have been invited by TV Limburg to do a television performance and also filmed one of their performances which have been released on October 2011 as an Indie DVD and a live CD production.

On October 31, 2012, Unitopia just released their fifth album, COVERED MIRROR with Musea Records France. Thirteen songs from different bands are revisited with Unitopia’s unique touch and already nominated by Paperlate.nl as best album of 2012! Unitopia is known for supporting worthy causes. “321,” from THE GARDEN, was created as a touching tribute to the courage, ordeal and eventual rescue of the Beaconsfield miners. The track gained nationwide exposure including a segment on “60 Minutes.” In May of 2007, with support and funding from the West Tamar Council, the band launched the single “321” at the one year anniversary memorial in Beaconsfield, Tasmania to an audience of nearly 3,000 people.

Unitopia has also allowed the use of other songs for Charity causes such as “Stomp Out Cancer” in 2008, “Songs For Haiti” in 2010, and “Strengh” for Japan in 2011. They also donated part of the proceeds from ticket sales of one of their concerts in Adelaide to the Childhood Cancer Foundation.

As lead singer Mark Trueack says, “Music is the doctor!”

Track List:
1. Digital Critic
2. What If…
3. Late For An Early Grave
4. Fading Flower
5. Thorn In The Flesh
6. Teacher
7. Love Song For The Dying
8. Never Surrender

In~Graved, the new band led by former Pentagram and Place Of Skulls guitarist Victor Griffin, will release their self-titled debut album in Europe and the UK on Friday, March 22 via Svart Records and in the US on Tuesday, March 26 via Veritas Records.

The debut self-titled album was produced by Travis Wyrick (Place Of Skulls) and founding guitarist/vocalist Victor Griffin (Death Row, Pentagram, Place Of Skulls). The album was recorded at Lakeside Studios in Knoxville, Tennessee and engineered by Travis Wyrick and Mike Dearing (Place Of Skulls) with cover art by Richard Schouten (Place Of Skulls, Massacre).

While closing the books on Pentagram and Place of Skulls in 2012, Victor Griffin invited drummer Pete Campbell (60 Watt Shaman, Place Of Skulls) to join him in the studio to record a new album. With no name, no members, and a batch of unfinished material… they cranked out eight tracks in just under a week and Pete went home. But much was left unfinished. An invitation was then extended to some of the best bass players around with Guy Pinhas (The Obsessed, Acid King, Goatsnake), Ron Holzner (Trouble, Earthen Grave, Debris Inc), Greg Turley (Pentagram), Marty Swaney (Death Row, Pentagram), and Dan Lively (Sweet Cicada) accepting. Meanwhile, keyboardist Mike Puleo (Orodruin) was making his contribution. Then with great enthusiasm… the timing was right for Jeff “Oly” Olson (Trouble) to join and bring the Hammond organ alive on the rest of the album!

In-Graved will play a full Euro tour in April 2013, including appearances at famous festivals such as Roadburn, Doom Shall Rise and Desertfest.

Touring lineup is as follows:

Victor Griffin – Guitar/Vocals (Death Row, Pentagram, Place Of Skulls)
Pete Campbell – Drums (60 Watt Shaman, Place Of Skulls)
Guy Pinhas – Bass (The Obsessed, Acid King, Goatsnake)
Jeff “Oly” Olson (Trouble, Retro Grave)

High Priest of Saturn
Svart Records
22 March 2013

Track List:
1. Protean Towers
2. Kraken Mare
3. Crawling King Snake
4. On Mayda Insula

Stuck up on the icy western coast of Norway, Trondheim might not be the easiest way to embark on intergalactic voyages but it surely does hold an incredibly versatile metal and rock scene whose latest avatar is ready to take you on a hell of a trip.

Self-described as a psychedelic doom act inspired by classic stoner bands and ’60s and ’70s psychedelic rock, High Priest Of Saturn are a three-piece that consists of guitarist Martin Sivertsen and guitarist-drummer Andreas Hagen’s slow-pounding riffs and beats, and Merethe Heggset’s eerie vocals, which seem to resonate from another dimension. The entire opus then is drenched with swirling, menacing vintage organ sounds, played on the album by Ole Kristian Malmedal.

Groovy yet epic (none of the four tracks presented here are below the nine minutes mark!), High Priest Of Saturn’s debut full-length is a trip. Not only does it fulfill the many promises offered by their 2011 demo (whose two songs have been re-recorded here in even heavier and more mesmerizing versions), but it also propels this trio towards the same league as Sleep and Acid King, towards the sky and beyond.

High Priest Of Saturn are:
Merethe Heggset – Bass Guitar and Voice
Martin Sivertsen – Guitar
Andreas Hagen – Guitar and Drums

Recorded by High Priest of Saturn in the Mindmade Moonlit Passage
Keyboards played by Ole Kristian Malmedal

-The Wounded Kings To Be Featured In “Smells Like Sweat” Documentary

England’s The Wounded Kings are one of several artists to be featured in the upcoming documentary “Smells Like Sweat.” Filmed at 2012’s inaugural Heavy Days in Doomtown Festival, the film was compiled by Unknown Factor, a DIY collective of progressive artists. The 30-minute film will be premiered at the Denmark-based festival’s warm-up weekend planned in Stockholm on February 22nd with an encore showing in Copenhagen on February 23rd. The Wounded Kings are set to perform at the premiere in Copenhagen.

Regarding the film, The Wounded Kings guitarist Steve Mills says, “When we were asked to play the festival, we were one of the first bands to be approached and we all really liked the DIY ethos behind it so we signed up immediately. Little did we know it was going to turn into such a beast! Along with the crowd on the 23rd, this will also be the first time we will see the documentary. If the festival was anything to go by then the film will be loud, heavy and f*ckin’ killer.”

A trailer for Smells Like Sweat can be seen at:

Last month it was announced The Wounded Kings had signed with England’s metal powerhouse Candlelight Records. Questioned on the choice of label partner Mills shares, “When we were looking at new labels we were convinced that walking straight into one that focused primarily on doom wasn’t the way to go for us. We all felt it would have been kind of limiting. So we are totally stoked to be able to call a diverse label like Candlelight our new home.” Discussing plans for the band’s still unrecorded fourth album, Mills says, “at the moment we are aiming towards a July recording but nothing is set in stone. We have a working title of SEVEN VEILS. Rehearsals so far are shaping up. Expect this album to be our most expansive and heaviest yet.”

The Dartmoor-based five-piece has released three full-length studio albums and a split album with Richmond, Virginia’s Cough since forming in 2005. The two-time Roadburn Festival performer has been finding a growing American audience since the release of their 2011 album, IN THE CHAPEL OF THE BLACK HAND. The first album to feature new vocalist Sharie Neyland, MetalSucks noted her “voice is like ice water and mercury dripped down the small of your back in a darkened room. She’s like a post-apocalypse metal Grace Jones or Eartha Kitt.” Terrorizer Magazine called the album, “absolutely monstrous and essential.”

The Wounded Kings are guitarist/keyboardist Steve Mills, vocalist Sharie Neyland, guitarist Alex Kearney, bassist Al Eliadis, and drummer Myke Heath.

-The cover art for Avantasia’s upcoming THE MYSTERY OF TIME comes from “highly-acclaimed British fantasy artist Rodney Matthews (Thin Lizzy, Asia, Nazareth, Magnum).” From Avantasia’s Tobias Sammet: “It is a great honor for me to have Rodney create the artwork . . . Since the new album is a conceptual album and its story has a magical and enchanting atmosphere, there was no other painter I could think of to create the artwork. I’ve had several creative conversations with Rodney during the process and I had the feeling that the concept was inspiring to him right from the start. I put a lot of energy into producing a very detailed and fascinating album, and Rodney had that same enthusiasm to create an artwork just as detailed and fascinating. This is a new chapter in Avantasia’s history and I think it didn’t deserve less than a magical painting by my favorite painter and childhood hero: The one and only Rodney Matthews!” Avantasia studio updates are available at http://www.youtube.com/AVANTASIAOFFICIAL . -Singer Todd La Torre has resigned from Crimson Glory. In a detailed statement at http://www.bravewords.com/news/198498 , he maintains his involvement with Queensryche did not contribute towards the lack of progress towards a new Crimson Glory album. Guitarist Ben Jackson released a statement of his own at his Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/ben.jackson.7505 , saying the band members “remain good friends with Todd and support him completely,” and that Crimson Glory “absolutely can go on to make a new record/records and finding a suitable and talented vocalist will not be an impossibility for us. There are many and numerous outstanding vocalists around the world who strongly desire to work with C.G. Recovering from the loss of Todd is not as big an obstacle as some think, after all we never even made a record with him.” The statement ends on an up note: “The next record and chapter of C.G. will be monumental, magical and a masterpiece. Many thanks to all our fans and friends who have supported us and continue to support us throughout our journey. The legend and legacy of Crimson Glory will triumph and continue on.” See http://www.officialcrimsonglory.com/ and http://www.facebook.com/crimsonglory for more.

-Was anyone shocked by the Crimson Glory announcement? Man oh man, I just hope the remaining guys can pull it together. I mean, it sounds like they really want to, but there’s just so much uncertainty. I know they’re all “real people” with lives, families, etc., but as a fan I selfishly want, like, five more awesome albums from those guys. Fingers crossed this all ends up well…

-How is it that Raven Black Night has now released three singles off of BARBARIAN WINTER, and the album isn’t even out yet? Am I the only one that thinks that’s a little odd?

-If anyone wants to sponsor me a trip to the R-Mine Metalfest 2013 in Belgium or the Headbangers Open Air in Germany, I’ll do it. Seriously. 🙂

-I can’t say I spend a lot of time over at MTV.com, but it’s cool to see they are giving Great White some love.

-My new favorite song title is “Quincy The Pigboy” by Orange Goblin. I *must* hear that song.

-In my current playlist: Stratovarius – NEMESIS (Armoury Records), Gypsyhawk – REVELRY & RESILIENCE (Metal Blade), My Soliloquy – THE INTERPRETER (Sensory Records), Paganland – WIND OF FREEDOM (Svarga Music).
