-Saxon Prepare To Deliver Their Latest Album, SACRIFICE, On Tuesday, February 26th, 2013

With a storming new stomp in their boots and a renewed, lithe swagger to their legendary sound, Saxon will release SACRIFICE, on Tuesday, February 26th, 2013 through UDR. Taking a sharper, re-invigorated approach to the production, on this, their 20th album, Saxon have produced 10 of their strongest, heaviest and most inspired songs for many-a-year, and a more than worthy successor to their last album A CALL TO ARMS.

“Less tricks, more power!” roars frontman and founding father Biff Byford, “my brief to the band was to be raw, be real and not be afraid to look back at the old classic material for inspiration.”

The album was recorded at LS Studios in Yorkshire and was produced by Byford with Andy Sneap mixing and engineering by Jacky Lehmann. It fairly bristles with muscular metallic intent, Paul Quinn’s and Doug Scarratt’s guitar work the best it’s ever been, while Biff’s vocals sound fresher and livelier. The songwriting too harks back to a classic era in Saxon’s history, with the likes of “Warriors Of The Road,” “Wheels Of Terror” and “Stand Up And Fight” evoking the halcyon days of yore with a contemporary twist, the classic Saxon sound absorbing the snarl, ferocity and attitude of contemporary bands (and fans) such as Megadeth, as evidenced by the crunching title cut “Sacrifice.”

“It’s certainly been done from a more early ’80s thrashier perspective,” explains Biff, “and it’s not just guitars bashing away willy-nilly, they’ve got a fresh drive, purpose and perspective.”

Besides the new material, Saxon will also be adding some unique recordings of revisited classics to certain formats of the release, also produced by Byford and mastered by Andy Sneap, including an orchestrated version of “Crusader” and an acoustic version of “Frozen Rainbow.”

“From the songs to the production, I wanted to focus on the raw aspects which made us great in the first place,” concludes Biff, “And living in that rawness, combined with some great classic Saxon-songwriting, has in my opinion made Saxon fresher than ever.”

-Black Star Riders: New Band, New Album, Touring Plans!

Featuring: Ricky Warwick, Scott Gorham, Damon Johnson, Marco Mendoza, Jimmy DeGrasso

In October 2012 Thin Lizzy announced that they would not be recording new material under the Thin Lizzy moniker. The last incarnation of the band — Scott Gorham, Brian Downey, Darren Wharton, Ricky Warwick, Damon Johnson and Marco Mendoza — would be looking to form a new project.

Step forward Black Star Riders…

24th December 2012 sees the announcement of the new band formed by Thin Lizzy alumni Ricky Warwick (vocals), Scott Gorham (guitar), Damon Johnson (guitar), Marco Mendoza (bass) with new addition Jimmy DeGrasso on drums (Alice Cooper, Megadeth, David Lee Roth, Suicidal Tendencies). The change in personnel came about as Brian Downey didn’t want to commit to the touring cycle a new album would entail and Darren Wharton wanted to concentrate on Dare and other music and film projects.

Black Star Riders is set to enter the studio in Los Angeles in January 2013 to start recording their debut album with the legendary Kevin Shirley (Led Zeppelin, Iron Maiden, Aerosmith, Rush). The album will feature material the band wrote whilst touring as Thin Lizzy and the sound retains that classic feel but is very much its own as well. The Black Star Riders record is the next step in the evolution of the Thin Lizzy story.

“We are all very excited about the music that we have created for Black Star Riders. The synergy between the five of us has been phenomenal and I can’t wait for the world to hear these songs.” – Ricky Warwick

The new, as yet untitled, album will be released in May 2013 through Nuclear Blast — the label behind acts such as Anthrax, Nightwish and Meshuggah. Black Star Riders are one of the first bands signed by Monte Conner — the former Roadrunner A&R guru who has signed acts such as Slipknot, Machine Head, Sepultura and Rush. Conner recently joined Nuclear Blast as the president of Nuclear Blast Entertainment, a new US partnership he co-founded with Nuclear Blast owner Markus Staiger.

Says Conner: “As a lifelong Thin Lizzy fan, I was floored by this lineup’s new material. Not only do the new songs sound like Thin Lizzy but they sound like CLASSIC Thin Lizzy. Black Star Riders totally captures the essence of what was great about the original band while at the same time adding something totally fresh and modern. Even when I heard the band decided to change their name, my interest in signing them did not waver for one second.”

The band are looking to support their May album release with European festivals shows in the summer of 2013 and follow this up with worldwide touring. The set list will consist of material from the new album and classic Thin Lizzy material.

Black Star Riders are:
Ricky Warwick – Vocals
Scott Gorham – Guitar
Damon Johnson – Guitar
Marco Mendoza – Bass
Jimmy DeGrasso – Drums

-Avantasia: First Samples Of THE MYSTERY OF TIME Online!

Finally! On http://www.tobiassammet.com/ you find the first audio samples, plus a view into the recording studios of Avantasia’s upcoming record THE MYSTERY OF TIME, which will be out in March 2013.

Tobi comments the 2-minute trailer with even more information:

“Hey friends, as you know I am currently working on a new Avantasia album. It’s a lot of work, but I am so proud of what we are creating right now — it’s amazing stuff. As my little Christmas gift to, and to make Christmas even a little more exciting for you, I’ll reveal some secrets today: Of course, Michael Kiske is on board again! I bet you expected this, you can hear him loud and clear, and he is still the number one vocalist in that range — unbelievable! But, what is really new: For the first time in the history of Avantasia, we’re working with a real symphonic orchestra: The German Film Orchestra Babelsberg! You may remember it, they have worked with Rammstein, Bryan Adams, Shania Twain, and also with Edguy on the HELLFIRE CLUB album. It’s an enchanting fairytale we are working on, so we really have no choice but to finally have a real orchestra — after all it’s an epic Rock, or probably Metal Opera! If you click on the clip below, you can check out the orchestra recordings and also, you’ll hear a little sample, a rough mix of what’s to come in March 2013: THE MYSTERY OF TIME! Enjoy… and Merry Christmas! – Tobi”

-Circle II Circle To Release SEASONS WILL FALL On January 29

Armoury Records, in conjunction with Hamburg, Germany-based earMUSIC, will release the sixth studio album from American metallers Circle II Circle this Winter. Led by former Savatage vocalist Zak Stevens, the 12-track SEASONS WILL FALL promises to be the band’s strongest album to date both musically and sonically blending Stevens’ history and unique “Savatage style” with the fresh sounds he’s meticulously developed with CIIC — a commanding fusion of metal and hard rock, powered by his passionate melodic rock vocals. From the howling guitar riffs of “Diamond Blade” and “Killing Death” to the energetic sound of “Never Gonna Stop,” the album contains everything you want from a heavy rock album.

earMUSIC/Edel and Zak Stevens have enjoyed critical acclaim and commercial success together over the years with Savatage’s DEAD WINTER DEAD(1995) and THE WAKE OF MAGELLAN (1997), true milestones of hard rock/heavy metal and some of the highest charting metal success stories of the ’90s.

Comments Stevens of the new label home and forthcoming full-length: “With earMUSIC releasing our sixth album, we are exactly where we need to be at this point in our career. We have the right album along with a fantastic new label. The timing of all this will take the upcoming world tour to an entirely new level. We are very much looking forward to the release of SEASONS WILL FALL. This is an album that will strongly define the identity and place of hard rock and heavy metal music in the world today.”

Formed in 2001, Circle II Circle has released five albums to date consistently progressing into something more powerful with each offering without sacrificing the signature sound fans around the globe have grown to adore. The turning point for CIIC came in 2012 with their monumental performance of THE WAKE OF MAGELLAN in its entirety at Germany’s legendary Wacken Open Air Festival. What followed was a sold-out European club tour with full European jaunt set to follow in 2013.

-Twenty Years In The Making… Roxy Blue Returns With 3 New Releases!!!

In 1992, Hard Rock fans were hit broadside with a momentous hard rock album, entitled WANT SOME?, that seemed to come out of nowhere. The band was Roxy Blue, and while they were relatively unknown outside of their hometown of Memphis, music industry insiders knew that there was something about this band that set them apart from all the pretty boy hair bands that were currently being signed on a daily basis. So much so that everyone wanted to work with Roxy Blue and be a part of their magic! When the smoke cleared, Motley Crue’s management team was chosen to head the ship, Guns N’ Roses Producer (Mike Clink) was chosen to produce their debut album, and Geffen Records was the label that would release it.

Word spread quickly that Roxy Blue was the hottest new band around and they became the darlings of the hard rock media. Management was gearing up to break Roxy Blue as “The Next Big Thing.” With constant comparisons to Van Halen, Warrant, and even Motley Crue everyone was feeling the energy and momentum surrounding this band. The band’s album, WANT SOME?, immediately broke the Top 40 on Billboard’s AOR chart and was even reported to be the “Most Spun Rock Record Of The Summer” by Record and Review Magazine. A tour with Babylon A.D. and Wildside kicked off the summer party while MTV constantly kept the band’s videos in rotation on shows like the “Top Twenty Countdown,” “Most Wanted,” and “Headbanger’s Ball.” The band was on a rocket-ride winning masses of fans in the process.

Just like a summer love affair, Roxy Blue was here and gone in the blink of an eye. It all came and went too quickly and fans were left wanting more! But something funny was going on in the music industry and a whole legion of hard rock hair-band fans were left scratching their heads as a genre they heavily supported was systematically being deconstructed… And the band would be left holding the distinction of “The Last Successful Hair Band Of All Time” according to the novel “The History Of Rock-n-Roll.”

Where did it all go? How could a band with such a huge momentum and powerful live show and tons of fans all of a sudden be gone? The fans were definitely left Wanting Some More; and twenty years later that’s what the fans are getting with the release of WANT SOME MORE, STRIPPED, and LIVE AT NIGHTMOVES all available through FnA Records ( http://www.fnarecords.net/ ).

FnA Records has formed an alliance with Roxy Blue to pick up where they left off. The best way to do this is to raid the vaults and pull out all the unreleased studio recordings, demos, B-sides, rarities, and live tracks recorded before and during the early Roxy Blue days.

FnA Records is proud to bring you these three albums available individually, as a three-pack (at a reduced price), and as autographed fan packs with a limited edition Roxy Blue guitar pic. However, as a present to the die-hard fans, anyone buying a three-pack (all three albums) prior to Christmas will receive a limited edition Roxy Blue guitar pic as well.

The first album WANT SOME MORE can best be described as an extension of the classic WANT SOME? album. Definitely not throw away tracks, the album is comprised of songs that could easily replace any track on the 1992 album. There are eleven solid never-before-heard tracks that will excite and titillate not only fans of Roxy Blue, but fans of good solid ’80s style hard rock. Following the eleven tracks are three demos for “Love’s Got A Hold On Me,” “Times Are Changin’,” and “Rock-A-Bye Baby,” and a live version of “Rob The Cradle” — all of which are fan favorites from the debut album.

The second release is an album called STRIPPED. Anyone who enjoyed the Unplugged Acoustic MTV type of shows will definitely enjoy this album. The majority of the tracks are all acoustic and in most cases in different tempos. Five of the thirteen tracks will be different versions of memorable tunes featured on the 1992 WANT SOME? album, while the remaining tracks will all be unheard tracks (stripped down and electric/wired up) from the band’s vault. Tracks like “Merry Go Down,” “Mississippi Moon,” “Blind By Belief,” “Cruisin'” and many others will fill the long lost desire for more material from this band. Some tracks may even illicit a double take… but you’ll only know that secret if you hear the album.

The last album is a live album called LIVE AT NIGHTMOVES. This show was recorded just prior to the band leaving to Los Angeles to record their debut album. This was a sort of farewell and see you soon with a new album show for the fans that supported the band throughout the years. The cool thing about this live disc besides the energy and onstage banter between songs is that there are a handful of songs (“All Tied Up,” “Outta Control,” and “Way Down In Dixie”) that were played during this show but were never recorded anywhere else period! Additionally, eight of the thirteen tracks were tunes that didn’t even make it to the debut album.

-The New Swedish Melodic Rock Sensation Diamond Dawn To Unleash Their Debut Album OVERDRIVE On The Melodic Rock World, Out On Frontiers In February

Frontiers Records is pleased to announce the release of Diamond Dawn’s debut album OVERDRIVE on February 22nd in Europe and February 26th in North America.

Hailing from Goteborg, Sweden Diamond Dawn are easily one of the most promising Melodic Rock bands to come out from the Scandinavian underground scene. They came to the attention of the fans thanks to the digital release of the song “Standing As One,” which created a very nice buzz around the band’s abilities.

In a world where rock n roll seems to lack a certain positive nerve, the band stands for a vision of conveying energy and excitement through their pompous and melodic, yet hard rocking songs. With a clear vision of how melodic rock is supposed to be delivered, Diamond Dawn is ready to bring back the excitement to the music!

“Our intention is to have a good time, and make people wanna have a good time!” says guitarist Olle Lindahl. “We wanted to write some great music and release a rockin’ debut album; we definitely think that we managed to capture the positive energy that Diamond Dawn is all about. OVERDRIVE is the album that we would want to go out and buy and tell the world about!”

Musically the band has not changed the coordinates that were possible to envision in “Standing As One” (a re-recorded version of the song will also appear on the new album), however, as Olle tells, “We’re not doing what we do or sound like we do for the purpose of keeping something old alive. We’re a bunch of guys that love to play together and when we do, the sound and output comes naturally. Our music is very melodic and pompous rock with a strong positive nerve. Each band member comes from a different musical background and that is what definitely makes the sound what it is. There is no way to control that as long as you do what you feel like!”

So get the party started and enjoy OVERDRIVE which will probably end up being on many people’s best of list of 2013 even if the album will be released almost… at the beginning of the year!

Anticipated by the digital release of the awesome first single “Take Me Higher” on January 17th, OVERDRIVE final track listing will include the following eleven tracks:

1. Into Overdrive
2. Take Me Higher
3. Crying
4. Standing As One
5. California Rush
6. Indestructible
7. Turn It Up
8. The Hunter
9. Give It All
10. Don’t Walk Away
11. Powergames

The band’s sophomore album IMPACT will mark the recording debut of their new singer Göran Edman (Yngwie Malmsteen, John Norum, Madison), and new bass player Andy Loos (Lion’s Share, Glory).

“To hear Göran belt out the vocals made me shiver. It was exactly what I pictured the songs like,” says founding member and drummer Ronny Svanströmer.

Covered Call will prove, once again, that their brand of hook layered rock is a force to be reckoned with.

2. I Don’t Care
3. Upstream
4. Dead Inside
5. Changes
6. Till The End Of Time
7. Rescue Me
8. Gone Too Far

Lion Music are excited to announce the release of CHANGES, the new album from Spain’s leading melodic hard rock act Airless, on 14 February 2013.

Five years after the release of FIGHT album, Airless are once again rocking on all levels, lush vocal melodies combine flawlessly with the stellar guitar work of Robert Rodrigo; all backed up by a hard working rhythm section.

The new album sees keyboard parts now played by a dedicated keyboardist in guest musician Diego Rois, and this has given a stronger aspect to this side of the bands sound. Elsewhere legendary vocalist Danny Vaughn (Tyketto / Waysted / Vaughn) performs guest vocals on the title track.

CHANGES is the sound of a band full of confidence and at the top of their game. Four albums into their career the band have formulated a signature sound, no doubt aided by the first class guitar work of Robert Rodrigo, one of Spain’s best known rock guitarsts and endorser of Ibanez Guitars, Orange amps and DiMarzio pickups.

The band’s sound, whilst based on the classic American melodic hard rock sound, has featured more European hallmarks in certain chord progressions and melodies. If you have a penchant for bands in the mould of Hagar era Van Halen, White Lion and Harem Scarem then Airless are a must hear.

Born in January 2002 Airless soon signed with the company Vinny Records. Their self titled debut album was released in June 2002 and produced by Carlos Creator, it was released worldwide.

Airless’ second album, 2ND ROUND (2005), was also produced by Carlos Creator and released by Lion Music (Mellow Music / Japan). Promoting 2ND ROUND, Airless shared the stage with renowned bands like Riot, Tyketto and Dare.

The band’s third album, FIGHT (2008), was once again released by Lion Music. During the promotion of FIGHT, Airless played on several Hard Rock/AOR Fests, and shared stage with bands like Vega, Serpentine, Houston, and Reckless Love.

The band began work on the composition of new material for their fourth album during 2009 and 2010 before taking a sabbatical in 2011. The band reconvened in 2012 to finish the album CHANGES is set for release on CD and Digital Download on 14 February 2013 once again on Lion Music.

Early Cross are a four piece band comprising of Natasha Vaichuk (Vocals), Hiroaki Kato (6 & 12 String Guitars, Bouzouki, Pianos, Mellotrons, Organs), Yugo Maeda (Bass) and Yushi Soutome (Drums).

With a sound much bigger than the sum of their parts, PATHFINDER is a strong label debut full of carefully crafted music, depth, musical richness and emotion with a dark foreboding presence that will find favor with fans of Opeth, Porcupine Tree, Riverside, Day Six, The Gathering, The Wishing Tree, etc.

Home to a clean and powerful production, Early Cross are set to make a powerful impact on the rock and metal world outside their native Japan and the band are looking to tour in Europe in 2013.

The album’s creation started with the band writing the music at the end of 2010 and worked on it little by little in parallel with playing at several rock festivals. Work on the lyrics, commenced in 2011 under the consultation of Mustumi Tanamura who was in charge of the lyrical and vocal direction for the album, which have been soulfully delivered by the bands vocalist Natasha Vaichuk.

In 2011, Japan was struck by the Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami, which saw the band activities temporarily suspended. Thereafter, the band restarted their activities by joining Lion Music’s benefit album EMBRACE THE SUN which saw all profits go to the Japan Red Cross Appeal.

In summer 2012, recording the album began at Studio NEST. Jan Erik Liljeström from Anekdoten participated as a guest musician. The album was mixed by Christer-André Cederberg (ex-Animal Alpha, ex-In The Woods…) who has been nominated five times in the Norwegian Grammy Awards and is well-known for working with Anathema, Circus Maximus, New Empire, Petter Carlsen, et al.

The mastering of the album was done at Propeller Mastering, Oslo, Norway by Chris Sansom who has been in charge of a number of masterpieces by Anathema, Jaga Jazzist, Motorpsycho, Bernhoft, Enslaved, Bertine Zetlitz, et al. This excellent team, one of the best Norwegian production teams, led the album to its completion.

The artwork was created by Takashi Miyamoto, a truly talented graphic designer who has been involved in the production of “Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn,” Otomo Katsuhiro’s “Farewell To Weapons,” etc.

Early Cross prove that there is a burgeoning metal scene pushing the envelope of styles in their homeland and PATHFINDER will give listeners worldwide the chance to taste metal by one of Japan’s most promising acts.

-Famous Underground Signs With Dust On The Tracks Records

Canadian Metallic Hard Rockers Famous Underground has just inked a worldwide two-album deal with German label Dust On The Tracks Records (DOTT). The debut album which is slated for April 2013, will be released through Sony (Europe), MVD (USA), RSK (UK) and Universal (Canada).

Nicholas Walsh says “It’s great to know that our music can reach many people. We had multiple labels interested in the band, and ultimately went with DOTT due to their understanding of our music and how and where it needs to be exposed.”

Laurie-Anne Green states “Under the stable of Rock ‘n’ Growl Management and DOTT Records we feel that we have a great team to propel us forward into the New Year.”

The lineup is:
Nicholas Walsh – Vocals/Guitars
Laurie-Anne Green – Bass/BG Vocals
Rick Corvese – Guitars
Darren Boyd – Guitars
Desche Sparboom – Drums

Famous Underground’s sound and music is edgy, melodic and hooky bringing a paradigm shift to the arena of rock. It’s been said that they have created something fresh and exciting in an otherwise stagnated genre. With the conclusion that no-one has definitive comparisons, Carl Begai, writer with elite hard rock/metal magazine BW&BK, describes the new recording as “it’s a darker if-Metallica-were-Guns-N’-Roses direction with this brand new album.”

Famous Underground’s self-titled studio release was produced by Nick Walsh and mixed by Darius Szczepaniak (Sum 41, Black Crowes, Big Sugar, Sacrifice) at Rouge Valley Studio in Toronto. The new recording takes Walsh’s writing to a more defined state where the lyrics delve more into the complexities of the real world.

These musicians have independently garnered critical acclaim supporting such acts as Mötley Crüe, Def Leppard, Kid Rock, Black Sabbath, Billy Talent, Yngwie Malmsteen, April Wine and many other international acts.

-Vamp And Brett Walker Reissues Available Now On Divebomb Records

Originally released in 1989, Vamp’s THE RICH DON’T ROCK album should be held in the same regard as other classic hard rock albums of the era. Produced by Tony Platt (AC/DC, Foreigner) and stuffed to the rafters with arena-ready choruses, hooky guitars and Tom Bellini’s ballsy vocals, THE RICH DON’T ROCK was a creative triumph for the German group. But like the other artists we’ve made part of the Divebomb Records family, Vamp were victims of their record label’s shortsightedness and their album went nowhere commercially.

Being the hard rock fiends we are, Divebomb Records has tracked down the members of Vamp and we’ve partnered with the band to bring THE RICH DON’T ROCK back with the love and attention it deserves.

Brett Walker, who was following up his chart success with Alias’ Top 10 smash “Waiting For Love,” delivered 12 tracks of sure fire melodic rock magic.

Besides once again flexing his own masterful writing muscle with single “Lecia” (which would crack the Top 10 in Europe), he found himself teaming up with industry heavyweights Jonathan Cain (Journey, Bad English), Jim Peterik (Survivor), Stan Bush and Carl Dixon (Coney Hatch) hoping to strike commercial gold once again. These partnerships proved extremely successful with tracks like “Bad Time For Goodbye,” “More Than A Memory,” “Hard To Find An Easy Way,” and “Take Me Home” all becoming immediate fan favorites and remaining completely relevant in today’s music market despite the passage of nearly 20 years. NEVERTHELESS is a timeless album for a timeless style of American melodic rock.

“‘Mesmerized By Fire’ is more or less the title track from the DEATH BY FIRE album. I think within four minutes it captures pretty much everything about Enforcer: intensity and power mixed with a touch of melody and melancholy. The B-side is a cover of Nagazaki’s ‘You Can Be.’ It is a track with mega potential from a band that unfortunately never made it in the ’80s.”

For more info on Edge Of Attack please follow the band at these links:

No good could possibly come out of the frigid Northern lands of Alberta, you say? Well, sorry to tell you, there’s an exception to every rule. Enter smoldering power-thrash five-piece Edge Of Attack.

Combining haunting vocals, shredding guitars, complex bass lines, furious drumming and choral and symphonic arrangements with surprising depth, Edge Of Attack has not only taken the metal scene by storm, but also by surprise. Having been featured in Revolver magazine, you’d think the band has surely been around for years, but truth be told, they’ve accomplished all this while releasing no more than two singles.

Representing the changes that have taken place and the reinvention of Edge Of Attack’s sound, the self-titled album, which was produced by guitarist/vocalist Jurekk Whipple himself and is soon to be released with Spread the Metal Records, is, simply put, a reawakening and rebirthing of power metal with thrash creeping its way into the picture.

-Sammal Announce Release Date For Debut On Svart

Today, Svart Records announces January 18th, 2013 as the release date for Sammal’s self-titled debut, to be available on both CD and LP formats. A mesmerizing and often gorgeous amalgamation of Finnish prog and ’70s rock, the first revelation of Sammal’s SAMMAL can be heard/viewed at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I2LPKc5tIpk. Track listing is as follows:

Track listing for Sammal’s SAMMAL:
1. Puolikuu
2. Esox Lucius
3. Jäniksen Vuoksi
4. Kaikki Kortit
5. Näennäiskäännännäinen
6. Lehtipuiden Alle
7. Jokainen Pysyköön Uskossaan
8. Veneenrakentaja
9. Kylmää Usvaa

Sammal is that good old friend you’ve never met. Free from the confines of a scene or part of any genre wave, like the wild moss their name translates to. They have conjured a rare album, quite of its own but nostalgic in only the best way. A band that manages to capture a sense of golden moments in Finnish music, naturally and without pretensions. Vocals that soar confidently and warmly with beautiful lyrics which, though sung entirely in Finnish, are utterly relatable due to the passion in the voice and beauty of the compositions, made more arcane by the sentiments the sound evokes. Lyrics translated inside the booklet are a magic discovery of a band that inspires more about their culture and heart than most well-known Finnish bands today.

“Sammal began when we were staying at our singer’s summer cottage one autumn, listening to classic rock and prog LPs with a barely functioning vintage turntable,” comments guitarist/keyboardist Jura Salmi. “We had played in English language bands for some years, and that night we discussed our common interest to write songs in our native language and to follow the freely flowing creative spirit we heard on these records. We wanted to use music and the Finnish language to paint landscapes that are completely alien to modern-day stress and musical pigeonholing. Free association and freedom of expression are still at the core of Sammal.”

Touching on these deep themes, rarely does a voice emote and sound so ubiquitous or wiser in modern rock. Through their riffs, solos, and vintage keys, you can find traces of everything that made Love Records and Finnish prog so beloved, not only in their home country but abroad. Sammal give the same impression of a band Finns can be proud of, while doing a great service to their musical culture and heritage. They have a masterful natural command of classic rock music that surpasses their age with nods to Thin Lizzy, Camel, Birth Control, Budgie, and the epic guitar journeys of the Allman Brothers, while all along carving their own unique path. Redefining the term “modern classic” in an age of lesser pretenders. One of the greatest modern interpretations of classic Scandinavian progressive rock we have ever come across. Sink into the forest rock moss with Sammal!
