Robert Plant’s journey through the territories that have most acutely informed and inspired his music is perhaps one of the most multi-faceted of any artist from his generation. -Divebomb Records Upcoming Releases: Confessor, Solstice, Cyclone Temple & Ironchrist

We are working on several new releases at this very moment. We wanted to share our upcoming plans and releases with you all. These are not formal press releases, but just some useful information to hopefully get everyone excited about these killer projects we have coming down the line. Release dates are not set yet, but we hope to have several ready by year’s end.

This will be the first time all three Confessor demos will be made available commercially. DVD will be archival footage of all Confessor material we can get our hands on! Liner notes will be loaded with pictures plus a brand new essay by Jeff Wagner (“Mean Deviation” author). We have also been discussing a long overdue and proper FLY MACHINE reissue with the guys as well. Hopefully, we can make that happen!

Cyclone Temple
MY FRIEND LONELY (Deluxe Edition)
Chicago’s favorite sons! This album is one of our personal favorites of the ’90s and we decided it was time to resurrect it. This band and its mixture of various style of metal certainly turned a few heads back in the day. It’s been fully re-mastered by Jamie King and contains the BUILDING ERRORS IN THE MACHINE EP as bonus tracks. AOL Music’s Noisecreep Editor, Carlos Ramirez, conducted new interviews with Greg and Sonny to help round out his essay for the liner notes. Sonny has also tossed around the idea of finally getting his pre-Cyclone Temple band, Enchanter’s unreleased album ready for reissue so keep your fingers crossed he does!

Another one of our favorite bands from the “who the f*** were they?” category. Fusing proggy thrash metal with a punk rock ethos Maryland’s Ironchrist took no prisoners and made no apologies for being so brash. Rapid fire riffs interlaced with social and politically charged lyrics touching on all the hot button issues of that era. This album is one gigantic aggrofest! It features archival photos the band provided plus tracks from the EP and demo tape. The band also plans to chat with Carlos Ramirez for an extended liner note interview.

SOLSTICE (Deluxe Edition)
PRAY (Deluxe Edition)
Yes, the one and the only, Solstice, will get the full Divebomb Records reissue treatment soon. With band involvement we hope to include the band’s first demo tape and a slew of archival photos on the SOLSTICE reissue. The band is also updating the sound of the PRAY material so our deluxe edition will contain both their new version AND the original version (re-mastered) for the fans! Not surprising at all is the fact that Carlos Ramirez is a gigantic Solstice fan and will be handing all essay and interview duties.

-The Yardbirds Tour The States This September

The Yardbirds will be touring the States this September, from Massachusetts to Hawaii, September 1 through the 23. This is rock and roll that influenced musicians from the 1960s to current day.

The Yardbirds are original members: rhythm guitarist Chris Dreja and drummer Jim McCarty, and a new generation of musicians: singer/acoustic guitarist/harpist Andy Mitchell (since 2009), bassist David Smale (since 2009), and lead guitarist Ben King (since 2005). Merchandise will include Chris’ original photographic art, which includes the halo portrait for Jimmy Page from LED ZEPPELIN 1. That photo has been autographed by both Jimmy and Chris, who will sell that work in private.

The Yardbirds innovated 1960s guitar, with fuzz tone, feedback, distortion, backwards echo, improved amplification… and using a bow to play guitar. The group paved the way for the careers of Eric Clapton (1963-’65), Jeff Beck (’65-’66), and Jimmy Page (’66-’68, first as bassist, then guitarist when Beck left). The group drew some repertoire from the blues acts of the day, including Elmore James, Howlin’ Wolf, and Bo Diddley, and the Yardbirds hits were some of the best songs of the British Invasion: “For Your Love,” “Heart Full Of Soul,” “Shapes Of Things,” “I’m A Man,” “Over Under Sideways Down,” “Train Kept A-Rolling,” “Dazed And Confused,” and “Better Man Than I.”

The Yardbirds were inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 1992. Soon after the induction, Jim and Chris reformed the Yardbirds, first playing at London’s Marquee club, on a bill with the newly reformed Animals.

In 2003, Steve Vai’s Favored Nations label released their album BIRDLAND, an album of new songs that featured guest appearances from Vai, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Slash, Brian May, Steve Lukather, Jeff “Skunk” Baxter, and John Rzeznik. In 2005 guitarist Ben King joined the group, who recorded LIVE AT B.B. KING BLUES CLUB on July 19, 2006. That came out in 2007, included a version of “I’m A Man” that played on “The Simpsons” that year.

The Yardbirds have continued to tour. An institution in popular music, blues, rock and roll, the group made an indelible mark on the music and culture of both the 1960s and future generations.

-Johnny Winter: LIVE ROCKPALAST 1979 DVD And Guitar Gods Limited Edition Collectible Figure Arrive July 26

LIVE ROCKPALAST 1979 features Johnny and his three-piece band live on Germany’s famous “Rockpalast” TV show in 1979… Straight up blues like only Johnny can deliver, lean and mean. Johnny and the band also blaze through some killer covers like the Rolling Stones’ “Jumping Jack Flash” and “Suzie Q.”

Of this program, guitar journalist Sean McDevitt writes:

Johnny Winter had nothing to prove by the time April of 1979 arrived. Thirty-five years old, he was an established international star and already a decade removed from his seminal 1969 debut — a groundbreaking record followed by an unforgettable appearance at Woodstock, scores of sold-out arenas, a well documented stint in drug rehabilitation, and a steady stream of celebrated albums.

But as this performance makes clear, Winter’s musical soul wasn’t entirely at peace the night he stepped before a massive audience in Essen, Germany, to record a performance for the popular German television program “Rockpalast” (“Rock Palace”). The Texan, armed with his Gibson Firebird was on a mission to reaffirm for his audience — including millions watching the broadcast across Europe — his devotion to the blues, the music that consumed him as a young man during the 1950s and ’60s but was later cast aside as rock stardom beckoned.

The proof can be found in the night’s set list: “Hideaway,” the guitar workout made famous by Freddie King, kicks things off. It’s followed by “Messin’ With The Kid,” a staple of Chicago harp master Junior Wells. “Walkin’ By Myself,” co-penned by another Chicago great, Jimmy Rogers, follows.

But it’s not just what Winter plays that tells the tale; it’s what he says. “I hope there’s some people out there that get off on blues,” he offers. “I know we’ve got a lot of rock and rollers. But you’ve gotta remember that if it wasn’t for the blues, there wouldn’t be no rock and roll.”

And with that, the master goes deep into the Delta, unleashing a breathtaking, 17-minute reading of Willie Brown’s “Mississippi Blues,” an undeniable highlight of this unforgettable night. Winter follows up with Sleepy John Estes’ “Divin’ Duck” before attacking Dale Hawkins’ “Susie Q.”

Ever gracious, on “I’m Ready,” Johnny picks up a bass as his bassist fires away on guitar. The arrangement continues for “Rockabilly Boogie,” a joyous performance replete with some crowd-pleasing showmanship. But then it’s back to the blues.

“Well I know I’m fighting a losing battle, but I’m gonna to try to do some more blues,” Winter says. “I hope there’s somebody out there that might understand what that is and might want to hear a little bit of it.” And with that, Johnny delivers a master class medley that leads off with Robert Johnson’s “Stones In My Passway.”

The artist finally throws a bone to the rock enthusiasts with a cover of the Rolling Stones’ “Jumpin’ Jack Flash.” But it’s best to think of this offering as a reward, not a concession. Johnny Winter’s statement on this night had long since been made.

-7th Heaven Update

[Note: This is from the Chicago-area band’s July newsletter. – Tim]

Summer has just begun and our summer festival schedule is in full swing. We have a lot of cool things going on in our world, so let’s get started on some quick 7th Heaven news.

7th Heaven – POP MEDIA

Our new CD POP MEDIA is almost finished. We hope to send it to press this week (cross your fingers for us). We have a couple more songs to mix down and then it’s up to how fast the printer can get them back to us. We hope to have them in about 2-3 weeks… look for an email on the release date. This CD is a fun collection of songs we feel fit the band’s current sound and encompass the world we live in as a band. We think you will like the songs we chose for the CD. We have started playing two songs already off the CD live and this week, we add three more to our set. Stay tuned for a exact release date.

7th Heaven LED Screens, Light Show & Glow

We have been working on a bunch of really neat visuals to add to our live shows. Many of you already see the graphic banners on stage we added but over the next week or two, there will be some AMAZING things you will see at certain shows. We will be adding two 8 feet wide x 4 feet tall video screens to our shows. We have a very cool destination of what we will do with these, but phase 1 will be just to get them up and running. Phase 2 will have video sync with some audio we play. We also have new lighted truss that we’ll use on on our night shows that we have room to use. We have a new lighted 7th Heaven banner that is coming and we’ll be adding a cool glow-in-the-dark thing soon as well. The usage of some of these things will be limited on weather, stage size and some factors, but we will try to use these on night shows that we know we have the space to utilize them at. Once we get this going full steam we think this will be a really neat experience to add to the already fun experience of our live shows.

New Merchandise

We have a bunch of brand new merchandise, as well as our new newsletters available at all full band shows all summer long. Look for limited edition POP MEDIA shirts, custom die-cast key chains, cool new guitar pick cards, lighted dog tags, wristbands and more… Make sure to check the merchandise table at every show, as we add new products every week.

7th Heaven Cruise — Next Sailing

If you are looking to join us on the next 7th Heaven cruise, we’ll be finalizing the info within the next month. If you were thinking of going, let us know and we’ll let you know when we are ready to start booking. The time frame will be in February 2012.

7th Heaven About To Go Over 10,000 Fans On Facebook

Help us get over 10,000 fans/friends on our official Facebook page. We utilize that page for last minute updates, new merchandise and other cool info that we want to share with you on a regular basis. So “Like” our band’s Facebook page so we can keep you updated as things happen in the 7th Heaven world. http://www.facebook.com/pages/7th-heaven/38789126903

Sytx – Meat Loaf – 7th Heaven

This week we’ll open for Styx at Naperville Ribfest on Saturday, July 2. We play with Meat Loaf at a fall concert in Joliet outside on September 1.

NTD Management Website Updated

The NTD Management website has been updated here: http://www.NTDManagement.com/

NTD Management welcomes some new bands to the NTD family of bands and we encourage you to check them out and show them some support.

Show Times & Schedule

One thing we are aware of is the times and how sometimes our start or end times are not accurate to what was expected. Please be patient and understand there are some factors that we have no control over. For example, if a festival wants to make a change to the show’s times last minute, they will do so. Sometimes they want us to start later than we had planned. Sometimes the festival hired a sound company that has broken equipment and we are trying to find a solution to get us on and still do a show. Sometimes weather plays a factor. And sometimes we are late as we are trying to play two shows in a day and traffic just doesn’t want to agree with us… needless to say, we try to be on-time as much as possible and we are sorry if some of you are waiting around longer than you planned. When you do 250 shows, it’s difficult to keep all of them on time, but believe me, we are trying to find solutions in all areas to address that. Note — our “Tour” page on our website now has the map & website links to all shows. The PDF of the schedule is updated and the Apple iCal and Google calendars are now updated.

-Amon Amarth: “Destroyer Of The Universe” Video Premiere On Blank TV

Starting June 27, fans can check out the new Amon Amarth music video for the song “Destroyer Of The Universe” off the band’s latest release, SURTUR RISING. The live video, which is premiering exclusively on BlankTV, was shot on the band’s May 6th stop in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at the Theatre Of Living Arts by director David Brodsky of MyGoodEye (The Black Dahlia Murder, The Devin Townsend Project, Suicide Silence, Municipal Waste, Whitechapel, etc.).

Comments guitarist Olavi Mikkonen: “This time around we wanted to catch the energy and atmosphere of a live show, so we simply went for a live video. We look forward to get back to North America in August to continue and fulfill the ‘Evening With’ tour, meanwhile enjoy the video.”

Check out the video here and be sure to leave a comment:

In a recap of the band’s last tour in the US, Concertconfessions.com opined: “What is most beautiful about Amon Amarth’s triumph of America is that it’s as pure as the music itself… Friends sharing with friends the magic of the music, that is a true token of success and judging on the reaction from Southern California on Easter Sunday 2011 — Amon Amarth will have success for a very long time.” The Washington Times applauded the band for leaving, “the sold-out crowd awestruck by [their] mastery of melodic death metal,” About.com boasted, “I was highly impressed by Amon Amarth’s stage presentation, which easily rivals that of bands that normally fill arenas,” while Skullsnbones.com put it simply: “One band came and conquered Atlanta and their name is Amon Amarth!”

Don’t forget to catch Amon Amarth live when the band returns to North America for the second leg of the “An Evening With Amon Amarth” tour.

Scheduled to kick off in Vancouver on August 4, the trek will pillage its way through 21 cities, including several Canadian venues, and come to a close in Boise, Idaho on September 3. The first set will again feature the band performing the SURTUR RISING album in its entirety while the second will offer up mixed bag of tunes from their extensive catalog of Norse-inspired awesomeness.

The eighth studio offering from one of Sweden’s finest death metal exports, SURTER RISING was released in North America on March 29, 2011 via Metal Blade Records and continues to reap praise from fans and critics alike. Amon Amarth nailed a cover spot of the April 2011 issue of Decibel Magazine and earned a 9/10 rating from Outburn who commended the band for delivering “a collection that is brimming with beefy riffs, insidious melodies, and a truly epic sense of scale.” Fearnet.com agreed saying Amon Amarth is now “at the head of the class,” Metal Review gave it a 9.2/10 score calling it “one of the band’s very best releases,” while Metal Army America offered up a grade “A” review noting, “from the Stockholm-bred riff style to frontman Johan Hegg’s Cimmerian-esque performance as growler du jour, Amon Amarth’s SURTUR RISING proves to be an essential and defining listen for band and fans alike.”

-The Pleasures Announce UK Tour!

The (R)Evolution Of Glam Rock Returns To UK Shores

Hailing from Hamburg, Germany The Pleasures are single-handedly reinventing, redefining and revolutionising everything that you used to understand as “glam rock.”

Sure, they take a massive pinch of Bowie, T-Rex and The Sweet, but they also have a disgusting love of all things Toilet Boys, David Bowie, Marilyn Manson, Alice Cooper — this is glam rock 21st century style and it sounds like nothing like you may have ever heard before.

The band are: Dancette Pleasure (Vocals, Keys) / Sensai Pleasure (Bass, Vocals) / Curtis Cheiron Pleasure (Guitar, Vocals) / Neo Patra Pleasure (Guitar, Growls) / Disco Pleasure (Drums, Shouts)

The Pleasures are a passionate, hard-working band, producing and engineering their own recorded material. Their first release came in June 2005; a five track EP entitled CUMING OUT. Succeeded a year later by the 16-track debut album GREATEST HITS, which sold out of its first few thousand copies within just six months. A single release in April 2007, “Some Like It Rock,” preceded their critically acclaimed double album, OH YEAH. The band had a distribution deal with Dockyard 2 for a repackaged version of OH YEAH called OH YEAH REVOLUTION in 2009. This took the band to the online market (Spotify / iTunes and other major retailers) featuring new versions from their back catalogue and a couple of new songs.

Their new album is scheduled for release in late 2011 and their UK tour will showcase the stunning new material.

Watch their most recent video — the decadent, delicious and rock fuelled “Juicy Jacuzzi” http://youtu.be/oi59YV3x2DE

With each performance this band gets stronger, their following gets bigger, and the incandescent haze of glitter, make-up and fake blood that travels with them, infiltrates the hearts of all those in its path.

Catch them at the following dates in the UK — presented by Big Zee Music (support from Velvet Star)

Aug 1. London, Boston Music Rooms (+ special guest Kiria)
Aug 2. York, Stereo
Aug 4. Grimsby, Yardbirds

-James Lee Stanley And Cliff Eberhardt – ALL WOOD AND DOORS To Be Released On July 12

Joined by original Doors members John Densmore (percussion) and Robby Krieger (lead guitar), with Peter Tork (Monkees), Timothy B. Schmit (Eagles), Laurence Juber (Paul McCartney & Wings), Paul Barrere (Little Feat), Scott Breadman (Rippingtons, Lindsay Buckingham), and more…

“James Lee Stanley and Cliff Eberhardt are excellent pickers and what they did to our songs is unique and refreshing. It was a pleasure to be part of the project.”
– John Densmore, The Doors

ALL WOOD AND DOORS is an acoustic guitar album like no other — 12 classic Doors songs sung and played by Cliff Eberhardt and James Lee Stanley; accompanied by: Peter Tork (Monkees), Timothy B. Schmit (Eagles), Laurence Juber (Paul McCartney & Wings), Paul Barrere (Little Feat), Scott Breadman (Rippingtons, Lindsay Buckingham), Chad Watson (David Arkenstone, Janis Ian), and very special guests John Densmore and Robby Krieger.

Fans of The Doors, acoustic guitar aficionados, as well as Crosby Stills & Nash, Buffalo Springfield, Rubber Soul, the Eagles, or classic Beach Boys harmonies are in for a real treat.

Can you imagine what The Doors songs would have sounded like if they had been created with acoustic guitars? Would “Light My Fire,” “Riders On The Storm” or “Touch Me” been as powerful played on acoustic guitars and filled with vocal harmonies?

James Lee Stanley and Cliff Eberhardt have been purveyors of acoustic rock music for decades. They took 12 Doors classics and turned them into something totally unthought of… An amazing collection of Doors tunes played on acoustic guitars and laden with soulful vocals and joyous harmonies.

ALL WOOD AND DOORS is a unique sounding album of classic Doors songs. It takes an acoustic closer look at all of these classic Doors songs in a way that has never been done before. It acts like a time machine… In a single moment you will find yourself hearing these Doors songs from a different world. Familiar and completely brand new.

Track List:

Break On Through
