-German Heavy Metal Pioneers Accept Sign Long-term Record Deal With Nuclear Blast!

All over the world, media has been busy for months, reporting about the comeback of heavy metal pioneers Accept! After resting for many years, the German based musicians started to work on a new album. Mark Tornillo — formerly lead singer of TT Quick — completed the heavy metal formation!

Without a doubt — this is the most important metal reunion of our days!

Born in the eighties, Accept started to conquer the world: Gold status in the U.S.A., top chart positions in Europe and Japan and touring with acts like Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Mötley Crüe, Ozzy Osbourne and Kiss led to a total success all over the world. Accept created their own legend!

In 2010, 14 years later, Accept is about to release their 15th album BLOOD OF THE NATIONS. The record will be pusblished worldwide by the highly respected record label Nuclear Blast.

Quotation by Gaby Hoffmann and Deville Schober / Accept Management:

“We really appreciate the cooperation with Nuclear Blast. Accept finally found a powerful partner to create a big international impact. Nuclear Blast got a lot of experience and the power to push Accept into new dimensions!”

Quotation Andy Siry / Label Manager Nuclear Blast:

“We are very proud to declare the signing of Accept! Like a lot of people out there, employees of Nuclear Blast have grown up with songs like ‘Restless & Wild,’ ‘Breaker’ and ‘Balls To The Wall.’ It’s an honour to us! Accept found a new voice with Mark Tornillo and working togehter with sucessful producer Andy Sneap will cause an amazing record — a gift for the fans out there! This album will become a milestone in the history of Accept!”

The new record BLOOD OF THE NATIONS will be released all over the world in the late summer of 2010. Andy Sneap, the international reowned U.K. producer (Megadeth, Bullet For My Valentine, Machine Head, Exodus, Killswitch Engage) produced BLOOD OF THE NATIONS. 14 songs — proof of a new Accept decade, brutal and melodic at the same time — in a classical style, but with a modern sound!

U.S.-European special tour in May 2010 confirmed!

This tour will be a special “thank you” for the fans — all concerts will be played in a private setting, close to the audience as a reference to the early rock ‘n’ roll shows of Accept. Advance ticket sale has already started, and tickets will be sold out soon for sure!

-Escape Music News

Release: May 21, 2010

Third Eye started as a band back in 2003. Martin Damgaard, Andreas Schumann, Thomas Kuhlmann and Rasmus Kostending had formed the band and was completed by singer Per Johansson (ex Crystal Knight Album CRYSTAL KNIGHT / Fate SCRATCH ‘N SNIFF, Fate V). Spring 2008 the band headed to the studio to start the recording of what was to become the album: RECIPE FOR DISASTER. The recordings stretched for almost a year due to a lot of different setbacks. In the 11th hour the band even had to see keyboard player Rasmus Kostending leave the band, and it seemed that the album would get further delayed. Luckily Finn Zierler, from Beyond Twilight, stepped in and helped with keys on some of the songs. The rest was taken care of by Tommy Hansen at Jailhouse Studios. A year after Third Eye started recording, Tommy Hansen laid the final hand on the mixing and mastering. The album was ready to be revealed to the world. Easier said than done though. One more year should pass, struggling with different labels, before RECIPE FOR DISASTER was finally ready for the world, two years after starting the recordings. During this period Simon Krogh joined the band on keyboards. A long and hard journey was over. By coincidence the album title fitted the recording-process, even though it was created before the recording started.

Release: May 21, 2010

The Norwegian band Wild Side started out in late 2005 and was formed by drummer Ronni Arntzen and ex-Pagan’s Mind guitarist Thorstein Aaby. To complete the lineup, vocalist Paul Martin and bass player Johnny Myren was hired. Myren did not stay in the band for long, and in came a much more competent bassist, Stian Stensrud. In the beginning the band was mainly playing cover tunes, but a couple of original tracks also surfaced.

-Exodus: New Song From EXHIBIT B: THE HUMAN CONDITION Posted Online

San Francisco Bay Area thrashers Exodus have uploaded “Class Dismissed (A Hate Primer)” — a new track off their ninth studio album, EXHIBIT B: THE HUMAN CONDITION — onto their MySpace player. Recorded this past December in Northern California with renowned producer Andy Sneap (Megadeth, Arch Enemy, Kreator), the new release will be available in Europe on May 7th.

Guitarist/songwriter Gary Holt shares the background on the newly uploaded song:

“We decided to give everybody another taste of the new record… and it’s about one of America’s favorite pastimes, the school shooting. This song was primarily inspired by the massacre at Virginia Tech, as well as Columbine and the many other instances of unhinged individuals who decided to take out their wrath on their classmates, going all the way back to [University of Texas at Austin’s 1966 tower sniper] Charles J. Whitman.”

Exodus recently concluded their participation on Megadeth’s Rust In Peace 20th Anniversary Tour. Photo galleries of their live performance in Hollywood at The Palladium on March 31st can be viewed at the following sites: DirtJunior.com, CLoomisFotos.com, SoCalMusicToday.com, and Flickr.

A demo version of “Hammer And Life,” the band’s ode to original Exodus vocalist Paul Baloff (R.I.P.), can also be found on the Exodus MySpace player.

-Sweden’s Pain Of Salvation Gear Up For Their 11th Offering, ROAD SALT ONE, In U.S. Stores On June 8, 2010

In a world governed by increasingly rigid rules and conformist conceptions of art, Sweden’s progressive superstars, Pain Of Salvation, have created their own niche in the international music scene. Their upcoming album, ROAD SALT ONE is the first installment of a double album project which showcases the band’s outstanding emotion and intensity while leaning a little more towards modern rock with a colourful ’70s flare.

Since the band’s inception in 1984 (originally called Reality then renamed Pain Of Salvation in 1991), front man Daniel Gildenlöw has followed his own musical path mixing elements of metal, pop, funk, disco, blues, goth, folk, Arabian and Asian influences and of course, Prog.

“Skills and complexity should be part of the machinery, not the functionality or design,” says the band’s front man Daniel Gildenlöw, “so I try to hide it away where the engine is supposed to be — under the hood of a machine built mainly to process ideas and emotions.”

Pain Of Salvation’s 2009 E.P. release, LINOLEUM was a preview of the new double album concept. The band supported its release with a string of headlining shows throughout Europe and Russia as well as supporting Dream Theater in Australia.

Pain Of Salvation also was featured on Sweden’s “Melodifestivalen” which is a national European song competition. The TV show put the band in the living rooms of millions of European viewers. Although they didn’t win the competition, the exposure helped catapult the digital version of their song “Road Salt” to #12 on the Swedish charts.

ROAD SALT ONE not only includes the aforementioned title track, it also includes the previous E.P. single/title track, “Linoleum,” (which was accompanied by a great energetic video). Other highlights include the captivating opening track, “No Way,” the awe-inspiring, “Sisters” (which will be the second single) and the acute “Where It Hurts” (which will also be put in video form).

“ROAD SALT ONE is twelve tracks of sweaty gravel, asphalt butterflies, untrodden paths and brave decisions,” says Pain Of Salvation mastermind Daniel Gildenlöw. “It will not beg for your liking, it will not make excuses, it will not carry you safely across the dangerous waters. If you don’t pick up its pace it will leave you stranded at the curb of the road. Yes, ROAD SALT ONE might indeed be a harsh lover, but if you have the guts to follow it whole-heartedly and dare to surrender to its voice, it will take you places you need to visit.”

Front man Daniel Gildenlöw will be in the U.S. and Canada touring with the Prog supergroup, Transatlantic, in April. Here are the dates…

Transatlantic U.S. dates:

4/17 – The Downey Theater in Downey, CA

-Icarus Witch Announce New Vocalist, New Live Appearances

Fresh off of their North American tour with Paul Di’Anno in support of their February 9th release, DRAW DOWN THE MOON, Pittsburgh based melodic metal band Icarus Witch have announced a change in their lead vocal department. In a statement from the band’s official site they explained the situation:

“We are excited to announce yet another massive shift in our ranks as we welcome new vocalist Christopher Shaner to the Icarus Witch circle and part ways amicably with original vocalist, Matthew Bizilia. Matthew’s contributions to the band have been immeasurable over the past six years. While this was a serious decision for both parties, professional differences of opinion led to the change. Bizilia is a phenomenal talent who will always be a part of the Witch family as we wish him much success on his future ventures.”

Incoming vocalist and Erie, Pennsylvania native Shaner is a long time friend and collaborator of guitarist Quinn Lukas. Before Quinn moved to Pittsburgh to join Icarus Witch in 2006, he had worked on various musical projects with the singer. Much like the recent acquisition of second guitarist Ed Skero, the choice to add Christopher to the band was based on a combination of what he brings to the lineup personally, musically and professionally. His powerful vocal range, sense of harmony and intense work ethic are a perfect fit for the next phase of this band. Writing for the follow-up to DRAW DOWN THE MOON has already commenced with the new recruits and it promises to be the band’s most diverse, melodic and epic release ever.

Check out updated band photos, live footage and more at this location:

Friends of the ‘Witch can get a taste of the new lineup as Christopher and Ed make their debut at Pittsburgh’s Hard Rock Cafe Friday, May 28th, where the band will be opening for Lizzy Borden. Also on the band’s itinerary are the Warriors Of Metal III Festival in Ohio this June, and some exciting tour news to follow in mere days.

DRAW DOWN THE MOON is now available for a limited time to stream in its entirety at:

Upcoming Icarus Witch live appearances:
5/28/2010 Hard Rock Cafe – Pittsburgh, PA w/ Lizzy Borden
6/24/2010 Blondie’s – Detroit, MI
6/26/2010 Warriors of Metal III Open Air Fest – Chillicothe, OH w/ Cage, Omen, Dantesco, Imagika, + more
8/04/2010 Hard Rock Cafe – Pittsburgh, PA w/ Y&T
9/21/2010 Peabody’s – Cleveland, OH w/ Kamelot, Leaves Eyes

“The latest from U.S.A. traditional metal merchants hits you between the eyes from the start… Easily their best to date.” 8.5/10 – Brave Words & Bloody Knuckles

“In a just world, Icarus Witch would be playing to sold out theaters from coast to coast — they have that dramatic charm and musical skills to keep everyone happy and looking forward to future records.” 8/10 – Blistering

“…a pretty solid album from one of America’s leading up and coming heavy metal bands.” – Metal-Rules

-Legendary Hard Rock Bands FarCry And Harmzway Unite In A Rare And Unique Trenton Performance At The KatManDu

TRENTON, N.J. — FarCry are hot on the heels of their critically-acclaimed Kivel Records debut HIGH GEAR, and are poised to make their triumphant New Jersey debut Sunday, April 25, at the KatManDu nightclub. The band has played several high-profile shows around the U.S., sharing the bill with such rock icons as Bret Michaels, FireHouse, Skid Row, April Wine, Dokken, and Enuff Z’Nuff.

This event represents more than just an amazing rock show, but also the homecoming of Trenton native Mark Giovi, FarCry front man, and a vocalist with a prolific list of accomplishments to his name. Although he has performed around the world in a variety of capacities, Giovi still admits, “there is no place like home.” Currently living in Las Vegas, Giovi is the featured singer in the nightly hit show “Bite,” and is also one of the founding members of the Las Vegas Tenors.

Joining Giovi is guitarist extraordinaire Pete Fry. Both musicians had coincidentally played together in the burgeoning Trenton hard rock scene of the ’80s and ’90s, and were miraculously reunited by producer John Kivel in the interest of forming a rock and roll super group, which became FarCry.

Fry and Giovi are ecstatic to finally be able to play in their hometown, since this is the band’s first area appearance. “This will be our first show in N.J., and it is exciting. I’m looking forward to do the new songs for family, friends, and fans I have not seen for a long time. I can’t wait,” said Giovi. Pete Fry echoes this sentiment and adds, “Not only is it great to play for the home crowd, it’s almost a surreal experience to share the stage with Mark after so many years. Better still, to share the bill with Harmzway is awesome… Like stepping back through time… To ROCK!”

Opening band Harmzway is also celebrating an exultant reunion after a 15-year hiatus, reigning as a hard-working regional band in the late ’80s and early ’90s. Members Carmen “Doug” Bitonti (vocals/bass), Damon Duchai (guitars), and Joe Suarez (drums) plan to hit the ground running and prove that time has not diminished their edge in the slightest.

KatManDu is located at Route 29 – 50 Riverview Executive Park – Mercer County Waterfront Park, Trenton, NJ 08611 (609) 393-7300. Doors at 7:30 p.m., tickets are $10.00 and all 21+ are welcome.

-German Thrashers Fatal Embrace Reveal Track Listing And Front Cover For New Album THE EMPIRES OF INHUMANITY!

Thrash Metallers Fatal Embrace hailing from Berlin, Germany, are ready to release their new album THE EMPIRES OF INHUMANITY!

With Mathias Wendt in charge of the production, Fatal Embrace completed the recording of the new album at Music Lab Studio in Berlin. THE EMPIRES OF INHUMANITY, the band’s strongest album so far, deals with the most extreme and horrible fears and pains of mankind, the deepest depths of the human soul, the eternal struggle between good and evil, the life consuming beast. THE EMPIRES OF INHUMANITY will take every metalhead on a trip to the battlefield of the armies of the undead and the darkness. The war between heaven and hell has finally begun.

01. (Intro) The Last Prayer
02. Wake The Dead
03. Nothing To Regret
04. Haunting Metal
05. Another Rotten Life
06. Empires Of Inhumanity
07. Into Your Face

09. The Prophecy
10. Way To Immortality
11. Ravenous
12. Killers (bonus track)

The CD will include the Iron Maiden cover “Killers” as a bonus track!

Formed in 1993, Fatal Embrace is not a band you would accuse of jumping on a bandwagon because Thrash Metal seems hip again. In fact, these young men started out in the early ’90s (remember that was the time when Thrash was dead) as a hard hitting metal band to praise the glorious days of the ’80s when bands like Slayer, Exodus, Metallica, Venom, Sodom and Kreator ruled the musical extremes. Fatal Embrace never compromised and over the years they released three albums on different labels. THE ULTIMATE AGGRESSION (1999), LEGIONS OF ARMAGEDDON (2002) and DARK POUNDING STEEL (2006). All of them pumped up with adrenaline, energy and power.

THE EMPIRES OF INHUMANITY will be released June 4/7 via Metal Blade Records in Europe and on June, 8 through Metal Blade in North America!

Bullfrog is a band!
Born in Verona, Italy in 1993 from the ashes of other important local rock bands (Great Fish, Capricorn, Highshooter, The Hitchers), Bullfrog started as a hard rocking power trio, in the tradition of bands as Cream, J. Hendrix Experience, Beck, Bogert & Appice, etc. and also playing songs by Free, Mountain, Zeppelin, and Grand Funk Railroad. The approach is clear: jamming, guitar solos, excitement, spontaneusness, fun! Soon the band gains quite a reputation for playing long martathon shows, often playing for more than three hours! The repertoire grows quickly but the band starts to gradually add original compositions, testing them out on stage. In 2001, Bullfrog enter the studio to record their debut CD, FLOWER ON THE MOON, an exciting collection of 10 new songs, including a cover of “Sail On, Sail Away” by the forgotten Canadian cult heroes Moxy. The reviews are very positive and the band is invited to partecipate to the birth of the classic rock magazine Classix! with the song “Stranger To The Danger” being included in CD CLASSIX! – BURN!”

By this time Bullfrog begin to play also special acoustic shows or unplugged sets during their shows. Two acoustic performances (“Trouble In Paradise” and “Flower On The Moon”) are filmed for the TV show “Terremoto,” on the Italian music channel Matchmusic. In December 2003, Bullfrog had the honour of opening a show for the legendary John Lawton (voice of Uriah Heep and Lucifer’s Friend). By April 2004, the guys are ready to release the second CD THE ROAD TO SANTIAGO, a big step forward in terms of production, maturity and originality. This time the CD includes a re-working of the James Jang classic “Walk Away.” The songs “Sundance” and “The Road To Santiago” are included in the compilations MUSICALIVE 2 and TALES, introducing many new local bands.

Always open to jam with other musicians, by this time Bullfrog started playing special sets homaging some of their main influences, playing the whole of the album Free – LIVE (sometimes on the day of Free’s Paul Kossoff’s passing), Mountain – CLIMBING, and (with guests) AC/DC – LIVE IN PARIS 1979 and a special Thin Lizzy set. In April 2005, the band is delighted to play with two other of their heroes: Bernie Marsden and Micky Moody (Whitesnake). Three months later, in Venice, they open the show for the mighty Uriah Heep in front of 2,000 fans! In the summer of 2006 they jam with Italian blues god Tolo Marton. In may 2008, they get to play with Californian stoner sensation Dzjenghis Khan. In March 2009, Bullfrog release their third album, BEGGARS & LOSERS, surely the more focused and balanced of their CDs, showing a maturity and integrity clearly mirrored in the ecstatic reviews that the CD is getting all over the world. The album also includes performances between others, by Matt Filippini (Moonstone Project).

Band: Mark Sweeney
Album Title: ALL IN
Label: Pie Music Records
Street Date: May 28th, 2010

File Under: Rock

Sounds Like: Simple Plan, Bon Jovi, Daughtry a.s.o.

New album ALL IN from Mark Sweeney!!

Mark Sweeney releases his second solo record since 2007. ALL IN impressively reveals the sound of rock for 2010.

The 12 titles on the new record were produced by rock icon Michael Voss and others including, but not limited to: Rosenstolz, Michael Schenker, Udo Lindenberg, Doro Pesch, Casanova. The songs are both modern and rock; the ballads stretch very deep.

Mark Sweeney was able to get some top-class musicians for his new project. American singer Robin Beck (First Time) joins Mark for a duet. Bruce Kulick’s (ex-Kiss) astonishing contribution confirms that he’s one of the world’s greatest guitarists. Living legend Stefan Kaufmann (ex-Accept/U.D.O.) demonstrates with his guitar playing that he is far from being too old to rock and roll! Drummer Jörg Michael’s first-rate performance showcases his talent and flair. Moreover, Offspring singer Pearl is likely to raise comparisons with Mariah Carey — what a great voice!

At the early age of 17, Mark Sweeney was the front man of a band called Stayn. In time, Sweeney realized that just “screaming” lyrics were not what music was all about, so he took classical vocal lessons from an opera singer.

After four years of intensive education, Mark Sweeney switched to the famous vocal teacher from Lucerne, Andy Portmann. After years of hard work and dedication, he became the rock singer he is today.

In 1995, the charismatic shouter joined the band Cherry Pie, and hit the road with cover tunes. Cherry Pie’s repertoire ranged from Bon Jovi to Metallica. Doing countless gigs, national and international, Sweeney gained further attention and established himself as a rock singer. After a TV show on the German channel Pro 7, his band got a record deal in 1998 and Cherry Pie became Crystal Ball. With a new name and the same extraordinary musicians, the band rocked on, dropping cover songs while writing their own original material. Another record followed; it was released in Europe and Asia. Crystal Ball was signed by the world’s leading hard rock/metal label, Nuclear Blast (Nightwish etc.).

Crystal Ball released three albums with this label and performed approximately 500 shows throughout 10 countries. European tours with Pretty Maids, Dokken, Doro, U.D.O., Axxis and Swiss colleagues from Krokus and Gotthard followed. Crystal Ball led their first European headliner tour with label mates, Thunderstone at the end of 2005.

With recognition and merit from good reviews, countless radio and TV appearances, airplay charts in Japan, hitting the charts in Switzerland, top rankings in famous magazines and several “Album of the Month” awards, Mark Sweeney became a demanded producer and executive producer while contributing to several other records as background singer. Mark made himself a name as a guest singer when he toured with the ex-Kiss member Bruce Kulick.

The boys, meanwhile, a four-man band, got the attention from the smashing label AFM, who in 2007 released their successful album SECRETS. That same year, Mark Sweeney released his first solo record SLOW FOOD with Pie Music Records. Mark showed another side of him and surprised the listeners with soothing and emotional songs. The critiques on this album were astonishing, noteworthy and magnificent.

Mark Sweeney does it again for 2010 with ALL IN. This is one album you do not want to miss!

The Dreaming Tree – Biography 2010

A U.K.-based progressive Pop/Rock band with a sound rich in dynamics and wry with an impelling quirkiness. With influences ranging from Led Zeppelin to Spock’s Beard, to Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen, their latest album, PROGRESS HAS NO PATIENCE, has been released…

Recorded at their own Treehouse Studios and at Thin Ice Studios under the watchful eye and ear of producer Karl Groom (Threshold/DragonForce), The Dreaming Tree have honed a new batch of songs, as well as reworked songs that have been live staples but never recorded. The result of a more measured approach to crafting music sees the new album move forward a step in sophistication, yet all the while still retaining the essence of variety that makes the band what it is.

The band began in earnest in 2003/04 when Chris Buckler and Neil Ablard met Dan Jones on a sound engineering course. This led to Dan being invited to join the guitar-less band that Chris and Neil had been playing in, along with Jim Peterson and Steve Barratt. The resultant clash of musical ideals spewed forth a frenzied writing spree, with songs running a gamut of styles emerging from the band’s rehearsal room. A selection of four of these songs made it onto The Dreaming Tree’s first recorded output, the self-titled E.P. that was recorded at Lakeside Studios in Sandwell, Birmingham.

Throughout the rest of 2004 and into 2005, the band played as many shows as they could, all whilst continuing to write new music, with an amassed total of over 30 songs. They concentrated on building a good live platform, and deliberately tested themselves and their material in a variety of settings, from larger, fully electric shows, to unplugged acoustic shows, sometimes stripping the songs down to only guitar and vocals. Any chance to play they took. This led to developing an almost improvisational style live, with sets often featuring jams that could take any twist and turn.

During 2006, the band decided to expand on their rehearsal space by constructing their own studio. After that was complete, the task of recording the album to document the last two years’ worth of songs began. The resultant disc, GRAFTING LINES AND SPREADING RUMOURS features modern pop/rock songs, through longer, more grandiose progressive songs, up to stomping full-force rock, with plenty of other styles sneaking in to leave subtle marks on the songs.

A year later, and the band had played many more shows promoting the new album. With a “play anywhere and with anyone” ethos, many gigs had been in smaller venues prompting acoustic based set-ups, and the music had translated so well from the fully electric sound that the band decided to record songs from the set in a stripped down format. The result was the album UNPLUGGED ONE: HOW TO SOUND GOOD NAKED, and was released in December 2008.

The band are now looking to move into 2010 promoting the new album, and look to increase their profile and fanbase through more live performances.

Featuring: Thurston Moore, Ian MacKaye, Noam Chomksy, Mike Watt, Lenny Kaye and more…

MVD Visual is pleased to announce the release of I NEED THAT RECORD! THE DEATH (OR POSSIBLE SURVIVAL) OF THE INDEPENDENT RECORD STORE for North American distribution on April 17 (Record Store Day). It will be offered exclusively to independent record stores for a period of 90 days. Afterwards, it will be available everywhere on July 27.

Guerilla filmmaker Brendan Toller presents a documentary feature examining why over 3,000 independent record stores have closed across the U.S. in the past decade.

Greedy record labels, media consolidation, homogenized radio, big box stores, E-commerce, shoddy “stars” pushed by big money, and the digital revolution all pose threats on the very well being of our favorite record stores and the music industry at large. Will these stores die? Will they survive?

Featuring discussion and commentary by Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth, Ian MacKaye of Dischord Records’ Fugazi/Minor Threat, activist/author Noam Chomsky, Mike WAtt of the Minutemen, Lenny Kaye (guitarist of the Patti Smith Group), Chris Frants of the Talking Heads/Tom Tom Club, guitar composer Glenn Branca, Patterson Hood of Drive-By Truckers, Pat Carney of the Black Keys, punk author Legs McNeil, rock photographer Bob Gruen, B.P. Helium (guitarist from Of Montreal), and many indie record stores across the United States.

“This film has been a four year labor of love playing at over 25 film festivals worldwide (and continuing),” said Toller. “So when it came time to craft the DVD we packed it with 2+ hours of candid interview extras with: Thurston Moore, Mike Watt, Ian MacKaye, Lenny Kaye, Patterson Hood, Glenn Branca, Pat Carney, and Legs McNeil.”

The film also features amazing animation by Matt Newman. Currently Toller is working with Justin Skrakowski on a collagic film portrait of rock legend Danny Fields.

“An elegy for a vanishing subculture… a lively, bittersweet film that examines — with caustic humor, brutal candor, and, ultimately, great affection — why roughly 3,000 indie record stores have closed across the nation over the past decade…” – Johnathan Perry, Boston Globe

-Sweden’s Outshine: EU Release UNTIL WE ARE DEAD Set On April 16!

After four appreciated U.S. Tours, with 100+ gigs in Scandinavia and the U.S., airtime in Swedish Radio, TV, American radio and various endorsements deals Outshine now release their long awaited new album UNTIL WE ARE DEAD in Europe on April 16th, 2010. This is done in collaboration with Dead Tree Music, Sound Polution (Sweden) and Metal Revelation (The Netherlands).

Outshine, with a melancholy and dark approach to their music, is heading in a darker and heavier direction, with bulldozer-heavy sound and influences from the darkest metal to the best melodic rock. Vocals compared with icons as Billy Idol and Vince Neil makes Outshine’s sound unique and fresh. Beautiful and honest, dark and evil, tough and hard… Outshine – UNTIL WE ARE DEAD.

Outshine has been compared to bands like: Paradise Lost, Kyuss, Mötley Crue, H.I.M., Tool, Entombed, A Perfect Circle, Placebo, Smashing Pumpkins to name a few.

“With their heaviness, their groove & fat riffs, Outshine has all the ingredients needed to scare the hell out of a poodle rocker in the dark back streets in their hometown Gothenburg.” – 7/10 CLOSE-UP Magazine

“Outshine sound like a live band and they really have captured that feeling in the studio. That is an achievement in itself, but this band also have the attitude and the material to become big.” – 9/10 HeavyHell

“Meanwhile, as in the phenomenal track ‘Riot,’ Outshine finds a way to express their music with such a vital & independent touch that they very well could be the ‘next hope in rock n roll music.'” – SLITZ Magazine

“This is comparable to Tool, H.I.M. and Paradise Lost and the singer Erlend Jegstad, with a voice comparable to punk-icon Billy Idol, is a real find.” – 5/5 Agonyzone Magazine

-An Onslaught Of Lair Of The Minoatur Updates

It’s been a hell of a month for Lair Of The Minotaur…

With the release of their fourth full-length EVIL POWER — released on April 13th — the record is killing at radio, being ranked #1 most added at metal radio its first week out (3/30), at both the CMJ Loud Rock charts and FMQB Metal Detector. Check this site for the number to harass in your area: http://www.lairoftheminotaur.com/site/?page_id=64

Last week we premiered Lair Of The Minotaur’s brutal new video for the album’s title track “Evil Power.” Within record time, YouTube removed it completely. The band re-posted it on their own site and moved on. Days later they posted the new track “Let’s Kill These Motherf*ckers” on their MySpace page. Again, within minutes, the track was pulled! So once again, they’re doing it themselves.

You can check out the insane “Evil Power” video, as well as preview FOUR new tracks from the album, both at LOTM’s own Web site ( http://www.lairoftheminotaur.com/ ) and also at the Earsplit Compound ( http://www.earsplitcompound.com/site/?p=446 ).

Comprised of Centurions Steve Rathbone (vocals/bass), Chris Wozniak (drums) and introducing new bassist Nate Olp (Demiricous), LOTM’s patented Greek mythology-inspired brutality continues on EVIL POWER, laying all in its path to waste with a stripped-down approach as heavy as the Kraken, while showing off the band’s punk and crossover influences.

“So primitive is EVIL POWER, in fact, that it’s like moving from a Bronze Age sword to a straightforward mace, and it just might wind up being the band’s masterstroke.” – Decibel Magazine

“…Lair Of The Minotaur is arguably the ultimate catharsis for the vengeful misfit in all of us.” – Sleazegrinder

-I just watched “Dream Deceivers,” the 20-year-old PBS documentary on Judas Priest’s court case in Reno, NV. (Thanks, Bill!) Now, I watched the thing back then, and I was and still am a *huge* Priest fan, but I was shocked to learn that although the band steadfastly denied the infamous “Do it!” stuff, they did admit in court that they indeed put backward-masked messages on record. The doc didn’t go into detail on what song(s) contain the message(s), but still, I was surprised. Here I’ve been thinking this whole time that that never happened.

-Man, why can’t Manowar, Virgin Steele and Kamelot tour the U.S.? I’d be there.

-Can’t wait for that new Accept album!

-In my current playlist: Crown Of Thorns – FAITH (Lost Cathedral), Orianthi – BELIEVE (Geffen), Vince Neil – TATTOOS & TEQUILA (SINGLE) (Frontiers), Adrenaline Factor – s/t (Perris Records).

Here we go with album #3 from Phantom-X, featuring former Omen members Kevin Goocher (vocals) and Glenn Malicki (bass) along with guitarist Bill Engfer and Reece Stanley. “Call To Arms” kicks off as a Manowar-worthy spoken-word “prepare for battle” type of lead-in to the great, punchy riff-filled “This Is War.” Good, classic power metal. Elsewhere, “Forever Midnight” has an excellent bounding vibe, “Whore Of Babylon” drives along aggressively, “The Lord Of The Sword” features Celtic (?) melodic guitar (think Riot’s INISHMORE) and chunky riffage, and closer “Deep Six Down (Chapter 10)” stokes as a wicked, near-thrash up-tempo rocker. On the more melodic side, you have “Into Battle We Ride” and “A Strange World (Chapter 8).” There are a few quieter moments as well, including the classical/acoustic guitar piece “Twilight,” the haunting Queensryche/Dokken balladry of “Discovery II (Chapter 9),” and the partly spooky “Cries In The Night” which mixes more ‘ryche with Dio. Goocher’s vocals are hard to pin down, as at various times he can sound like Helloween’s Andi Deris, Saxon’s Biff Byford, and even a grittier Don Dokken. And get a load of his Dave Mustaine impression in “Blood Of Eden” — between his snarling voice and the mid-tempo music, you’d almost swear this is a COUNTDOWN TO EXTINCTION outtake. Upon first listen I had this album pegged as a combination of Manowar and Megadeth with sprinkles of Iron Maiden and Judas Priest, but over time I’ve been able to appreciate the subtler moments that now have me thinking fans of vintage Queensryche will also take note. And I have to give extra props for the Saga-like practice of including three “chapter” songs that, along with tracks from other albums, fit into an ongoing story by Goocher. There isn’t anything terribly original on THIS IS WAR, but deep down this band’s metal heart is in the right place, and the songs are strong.
